6 T urning On th e Pr ojector This section de scribes the procedure fr om turning on the po wer to pr ojecting images. Pr ocedure 1 Check that the power is turn ed off for the proje ctor and all co mpon ents connec ted to th e pr o jecto r . 2 Conne ct the vide o sour ce or comp uter to the projector .

Gently pus h down on the projector wh ile simult aneously pres sing the tw o foot adjus t buttons. 6 Attach the lens cover . Attach the lens cov er to the lens when not using the projector , in or der to stop the lens from getting dusty or dir ty .
11 Basic Operations Adjustin g the S creen I mage Y ou can corr ect and adjust the screen image in order to obtain the bes t possible picture. The size of the projected image is basically determined by th e distance from the projector to the screen.
Adjusti ng the Scr een Imag e 12 The projector shou ld be set up so that it is as perpendicu lar to the screen as possible. If it is not possible to set u p the projector so that it is perpendicular to the screen, it can be set up at a sl ight vertical angle instead.
13 Basic Operations When the projector is tilted, it will cause keystone distortion to appear in the image, but this distortion can be corrected using the keystone correction function as long as the v ertical an g le of tilt is within a range of approximately 15 º.
14 Adjusting the Image Qu ality The quality of the screen images can be adjusted as follows. When the accessory EPSON cinema filter is attached to the projector and the "EPSON Cinema Filter" command is se t to "ON", the images are adjusted to the optimum tint for movie theatre images.
15 Basic Operations The follo wing six preset colour modes are a vailable for use depending on the ch aracteristics of the images that are being pro jected. Y ou can easily obtain the optimum image quality simply by s electing the colour mode that corresponds to the pr oject ed imag es.
Adjusti ng the Image Qua lity 16 Pr ocedure 1 Press the [Me nu] button on the remote contr ol, and the n select "A spect Rat io" from the "Video" m enu. For details on this operation, refer to "Using the Config uratio n M enus".
17 Basic Operations If ver tical stripes appear in the pr ojected images, and this cannot b e fix ed using automatic setup , you will need to adjust the tracking manually using the following procedure. Pr ocedure 1 Press the [ Menu] b utton on t he remote control, and then select "T racking" from the "Video " menu.
Adjusti ng the Image Qua lity 18 If flickering, fuzziness or interfer ence appear in images that are inpu t from the computer , and this cannot be fix ed using automatic setup, you will need to adjust the sy nc manually using the following procedure. 20 Using the Configuration M enu Functions The conf iguratio n menus can be used to carry out a var i ety of settings and adjustm ents. The menus hav e a hierarchical structure, with a main menu that is di v i ded into sub-men us, which are further di vided into other s ub-menus.

32 Using the Help If a problem occurs with the projector , the Help function u ses on-screen displays to assis t you in solving the pro blem. It uses a seri es of menus in a question and an swer format. The questions v ary depending on the type of image sou rce.

When the Indicators Provide No Help 38 Has the co mputer be en set for dual displ a y? (When conn ected t o a comput er) I f dual display has been acti vated in the Display Properties of the connected computer's Contro l Panel, the projector will only display about half of the image on the compute r screen.
39 T roub leshooting Condit ion Images ap pear dar k Probabl e cause Remedy Is the l amp due for replacemen t? When th e lamp is ne arly due for replacement, the image will become darker and the colour quality will become poorer . When this happens, th e lamp should be replaced with a new one.
When the Indicators Provide No Help 40 Has the volume been a djusted to the minimum set ting? Adjust the v olume so that the sound is audible. "Audi o " - "V olume" (p.2 3) Is A/V Mu te mode ac tiv e? Press the [A/V Mute] button on the remote control to cancel the A/V Mute mode.
41 T roub leshooting The c ooling fan does not stop. After the [Power] b utton is pressed to turn off the power , the cool-down perio d starts. After the cool-down period is c omplete, the Power indicator changes to a steady orange, and you can then disconnect the power cable from the electrical outlet.

44 Main tenance This section descr ibes maintenance tasks such as cleaning the projector and replacing consumable parts. Y ou should clean the projector if it becomes d irty or if the quality of p rojected im ages star ts to deteriorate. Clean the projector case by wiping it gently with a soft cloth.
45 Appendices This section describes how to replace the remote control battery , the lamp and the air filter . Therefore, the counter needs to be reset after the lamp has been replaced with a ne w one.
