12 Setting Up the Pr ojector Instal ling Batter ies in the Remot e Cont rol The rem ote control opera tes the projecto r a nd lets you access its Eff ects f eatures. You can also run your presen tation with the remote and use it as a wireless mouse. Follow these steps to install th e ba tteries: 1.

The lo cation you choo se dep ends o n the si ze of the au dience (and room) and you r pr esentation style. ■ Place the proj ector o n a stur dy, level surface , betw een 3 and 48 feet from the scree n.
14 Setting Up the Pr ojector Wh en p rojecting fro m a ta bl e, the ideal a rrangement is to s et th e proj ector fla t on i ts sur face. Th i s way, yo u c an use t he lens shift kno b (instead of ra ising th e p rojector’s feet) to position the im age o n-screen.

Setting U p the Pr ojector 17 Connecting to a PC Desktop Co mputer To connect the projector to your PC desktop comp uter, you need to: ■ Connect th e co mputer video cable and com puter moni tor cab.

20 Setting Up the Pr ojector Con necting the Au dio Cable 1. If y ou ’ll be usi n g au d i o, co nnect one end of th e 3.5-mm au dio cable to the Audio po rt on the projector . 2. Conne ct the other end of the aud io ca ble to th e sp eaker or aud io ou t port o n th e com puter’s sound ca rd.

Make sure the DVI/V GA switch on the back panel is flipped to th e right, a s sho wn. If nece ssary, us e the tip of a ballpoint pen to slide it over.

To use the EMP Link V softwa re, or to program new effe cts for the Effe cts buttons on the remot e control, connect one end of th e PC seria l cable to the SERI AL term inal on the m ain cable. 5. Connect th e oth er end of the serial cable to the serial port on the bac k of yo ur co mp u ter.

Since 1280 × 1024 pixels is the d efault resolutio n for most l eading workst a ti o ns , your projec tor is ideal for displaying wor kstation vi deo outpu t.

44 Using the Projector Adju sting the Im age On ce you see your image, you’ll need to make certain adjustm ents: ■ To focus or zoom you r im age, see below. ■ If only part of a comp uter im age is di splayed , yo u may need to pres s th e Re size button.
Using the Projecto r 45 Rotate the zoo m ring to enlarge or reduce the imag e. If the i mage still isn’t large enough, you may need to move the projecto r farth er awa y from the screen. You can a lso u se the E-Zoo m button on the remot e co ntrol to zoom in on a portion of the im age.
46 Using the Projector Adjusting the Height of the Image You ca n adjust the heigh t of the image u s i ng the lens shift kno b on the side of the pro jector and the projector’s fe et. Using th e Lens Shif t Knob Use the lens shi ft knob on the si de of the project or to raise or lower the p rojected imag e.
Using the Projecto r 47 2. Rai se or l ow er the projecto r until the im age is positi oned where you wa nt it. 3. Release the levers to l ock the fee t in the n ew p osition and set the projecto r d own gently. 4. To fine-tune the height of the projector , turn the feet.

Using the Projecto r 51 Co ntrolli ng the Projector While giving your pres entation, you ma y want to switch betw een video sour ces, a djust the v olume, pa use the a ction or sound, or d isplay a picture wi thin your curr ent video di splay.
52 Using the Projector Stopping Action You can use the remote control to stop the a c tion in your video or com puter. ■ Pres s the Free ze button to stop the action and keep the c urrent ima ge on th e screen. The sou nd will conti nue. ■ Pres s the Free ze button again to re-start it.

4 Maintaining a nd Transporting the Pr ojector 77 Main tain ing an d Transp orting the Proje cto r Y our projector needs little maintenance. All you need to do on a regular basis is keep the lens c lean. Any dirt or sm ears on the lens will show up on you r proje cted im age.
78 Maintaining and Transporting th e Projector Cle aning the Projector Case Befo re yo u clea n the c ase, firs t turn off the pr ojector and u nplu g the pow er cord.

80 Maintaining and Transporting th e Projector Replacing the Lamp The pro jection lamp typicall y l asts f o r abou t 2000 hours of use. It is time to replace the lamp w hen: ■ The proj ection imag e g ets darker or starts to deteriora te. ■ The proj ection lamp light is flashing red or orange.
Maintaining a nd Transporting the Pr ojector 81 4. Use a screwdriv er to l oosen the thr ee screws holding the l amp in place. (You cannot remov e these screws.) 5. Lift up the handl e and p ull ou t the lamp . 6. Gently insert the new l amp as shown bel ow .
82 Maintaining and Transporting th e Projector Resetting the Lamp T imer After you i nstall a new lam p, you need to reset the ti mer so the proj ector ca n kee p track of ho w ma ny hour s it has b een u sed. Fo llow these s teps: 1. Press the Help butto n a nd hold it down for at least 5 seconds.

84 Solvi ng Pr oble ms Problem s with th e Proje ctor If t he proj ector i s no t workin g corre ctly, f irst turn it o ff and unpl ug it. Then plu g t he power cord back in and turn on the p rojector . If this does not solve the problem , ch eck the warning l ights on t op o f the proj ector.
