Introd uction 3 1.0 I NTRODUCTION Congratulations on your choice of the Liebert GXT2-PP20KRT208 parallel POD. It allows parallel connection of input and output up to three Liebert GXT2-10000RT208 UPSs. The Liebert GXT2-PP20KRT208 pa rallel POD features an N+1 redundancy.

Major Compo nents 8 3.5 Parallel Communication Port The Liebert GXT2-PP20KRT208 para llel POD ha s three 15-pin pa ral lel communication ports on the upper right of the parallel POD. Several sign als are provided on this port to communicate with each UPS.

Installation 11 5.0 I NST ALLATION This section includes instructions on how to set up th e connections between the parallel POD and the UPS, connect wiring to the terminal b lock, install the Liebert GXT2-PP20KRT20 8 parallel POD in a rack or on a wall and add an optional distribut ion POD.
Installation 12 5.1.2 Mount the Liebert GXT2-PP20KRT208 on a W all Mounting the parallel POD on a wall requires ei ght field-suppl ied wall inserts and eight field-sup- plied screws. The minimum size for the wall in sert is 5x 30 and for the screw, M5x30.
Installation 13 5.2 Paralleling System Connections The Liebert GXT2-PP20KRT208 is shipped with the input and output slots fo r UPS and the optional output power distribution section covered. Installati on of the pa ralleling sy stem requires: parallel power cables, fixed plates and cable clamps.
Installation 14 If the Liebert GXT2-10000RT-208 UPS was a stand-alone unit but now will be part of a paral- lel system, remove the input and output cables from the rear terminal block and cov er the ter- minal block with the original conduit box. 10. Secure the cables to the housing with two cable clamps, 10mm hex driver required.
Installation 15 5.3 Main Input and Output T erminal Block Connections Conduit entry holes are provided on the front top of the removable cover plate for the parallel POD. Input and output wiring should be run in separate conduit. See the following requir ements and label to connect the wires.
Installation 16 5.4 Add an Output Power Di stribution Module—Optional To add an o ptional output distrib ution module to the Liebert GXT2-PP20KRT208: 1. Disconnect and secure utilit y po wer from the parallel POD and completely power Off all connected UPSs.
Installation 17 5.5 Parallel POD Main Electrical Connection—Must Be Inst alled Electrical connections are made th rough a removable conduit box that attaches to the top of the paral- lel POD. A branch breaker is required for short circuit or overcurrent protec tion.
Initial St artup and Electrical Chec ks 18 6.0 I NITIAL S T ARTUP AND E LECTRICAL C HECKS This section in cludes the procedures on how to install the parallelin g system for the fi rst time and how to perform initial system checks of each UPS individuall y before connecting them in parallel.
Configuration 19 7.0 C ONFIGURATION The Liebert GXT2-PP20KRT208 para llel POD allows connecting a maximum of three UPSs in paral- lel. See the following table for the maximum output power. 7.1 Paralleling for Cap acity When two UPSs are connected to the paralleling sy stem, the maximum output power is 20kVA.
Operation 20 8.0 O PERATION 8.1 Operating Modes 8.1.1 Online Mode NOTICE Verify the operation of each UPS as detailed in 6.0 - Initial Startup and Electrical Checks before pow ering On the parallel system as detailed below. To power On the p aralleling system: 1.
Operation 21 8.1.2 Byp ass Mode NOTICE Risk of loss of power. May cause equipment damage. The UPSs must be switched to B ypass Mode be fore transferring the parallel POD to Bypass Mode. After the UPSs are in bypass, the parall el POD may be switched .
Operation 22 8.1.3 Output Off Mode To transfer the paral leling system to Output Off Mode: 1. Make sure that each UPS is in B ypass Mode. If a UPS is not in Bypass Mode, pre ss the UPS’ Off button once (see 8. 1.2 - Bypass Mode ). 2. Press the Off button on the first UPS twice within four seconds.
Operation 23 8.5 Add a Single UPS to the Online Paralleling System 1. Make sure that breakers on the UPS to be added and the corresponding breakers on the parallel POD are in the Off position. 2. Connect the parallel power cables be tween the UPS and the parallel POD.
Operation 24 8.7 Replacing a Faulty Power M odule or UPS Internal Battery 1. Press the UP S’ Off button twice w ithin four second s to turn off the UPS. The UPS w ill transfer to Output Off Mode. 2. Turn Off the input and output breakers on the UPS and the corresponding input and output breakers on the parallel POD.
Operation 25 8.9 Battery Low V o ltage—Battery Mode See the following conditions wh en the battery low voltage is detected in the paralleling syste m. • If one UPS battery is running low, it will transf er to Output Off Mode. The other UPSs continue to supply power to the load.
Communication 26 9.0 C OMMUNICATION 9.1 Communication Interface The Liebert GXT2-PP20KRT208 para llel POD has three communicati on connectors for communica- tion between the UPSs. Thes e connectors must not be used for any other monitoring applications.
