4 P R E P AR A T I O N F O R U S E UN PA CKING AND SET UP • This system consists of the following components: Tuner/CD Player unit, Amplifier/Subwoofer unit, 2 “ Thinovation ™ ” Flat Panel Speakers, and Remote Control.
5 POWER SOURCE This system is designed to operate on 120V AC 60Hz house current onl y. Connecting this system to any other power source may cause damage to the system and such damage is not covered by your warranty. N O T E : T he sys t e m ha s po l a r i z ed A C p l ug w i t h one w i de b l ade and one na rr o w b l ade .
6 BATTERY BACK UP This system includes a battery back up circuit that will maintain the Tuner preset station memories and the correct time in the event of a power interruption. The battery back up circuit requires 4 “ AAA ” batteries, not included.
7 SYSTEM CONNECTION Place the Tuner/CD Player unit on top of the Amplifier/Subwoofer unit. Note that there is a multi-pin ribbon cable permanently attached to the back of the Tuner/CD Player unit. The multi-pin plug at the end of this ribbon cable must be connected to the multi-pin socket on the back of the Amplifier/Subwoofer unit.
8 AUXILIARY SOURCE CONNECTIONS You can listen to the sound from external audio sources through the speakers of this system. Connect the Aux/Line/Audio Output Jacks of the external audio source to the AUX Input Jacks on the back panel of this system. Note: Connection cables are not included.

1 3 O PE R A T I N G I N S T RUC T I O N S • Make sure the Tuner/CD Player unit is connected to the Amplifier/ Subwoofer unit with the built in ribbon cable. • Make sure that the 2 “Thinovation ™ ” Flat Panel speakers are connected to the Amplifier/Subwoofer unit.
1 4 SETTING THE CLOCK When the system is connected to the AC outlet for the first time the S TANDBY LED indicator on the front panel glows red and “ 0:00 ” appears on the displa y . This is your indication that the time display is incorrect and needs to be reset.
1 5 6.) Press the TUNING/SKIP-SEARCH UP or DO WN buttons on the front panel of the main unit or on the remote control to set the display to the correct Hou r, AM or PM. 7.) Press the MEMORY/TIME ADJ. button again. The Minute digits will begin flashing.
1 6 MAIN VOLUME AND VARIABLE BASS VOLUME CONTROLS Volume Adjustments Press the MAIN VOLUME + or – buttons on the front panel or the remote control to increase or decrease the volume. The volume level indicator appears in the main displa y . The range is from “ 00 db ” (Minimum) to “ 80 db ” (Maximum).
1 7 LISTENING TO THE RADIO 1.) Press the S TANDBY/ON button on the main unit or the remote control. The main display turns on. 2.) If necessar y , press the TUNER button on the front panel of the main unit or the CD/TUNER button on the remote control to select the Tuner function.
1 8 ANTENN A INFORM ATION FM Make sure the FM lead wire antenna is unwound and extended to its full length. It may be necessary to vary the direction of this wire antenna until you find the position that provides the best reception for your favorite FM stations.
1 9 PRE-SETTING S TA TIONS IN THE TUNER MEMORY This system includes a 20 station preset memor y . You can store up to 10 FM stations and 10 AM stations in the tuner memory for immediate recall. The procedure for storing stations in memory is as follows: 1.
2 0 RECALLING PRESET S TA TIONS Turn the system ‘ On ’ and select the desired band. Press the REPE AT/PRESET button repeatedly to scroll through the preset memories until the display shows the desired station. CHANGING PRESET S TA TIONS To change any preset station memory select the desired band and tune to the new station you wish to memorize.
2 1 PL AYING COMPACT DISCS IMPOR TANT: This CD player can play normal CDs plus CD Recordable (CD-R) and CD Rewriteable (CD-RW) discs. However the playability of CD-R and CD-RW discs may be affected by the type of software that was used in ‘ ripping ’ the tracks from the original discs and ‘ burning ’ the tracks onto the blank media.
2 2 5.) Close the CD doo r. The disc will spin and zeros will flash in the track number and time display. W ithin a few seconds the disc will stop spinning and the display will show the total playing time and total tracks on the disc.
2 3 PAUSE CONTROL To pause momentarily during CD playback press the PL AY/PAUSE button on the front panel of the main unit or the remote control again. The sound stops and the elapsed time display flashes but the disc continues to spin. Press the PL AY/PAUSE button once more to cancel Pause mode and resume playback.
2 4 REPE AT PLAYBACK Y ou can program the player to continuously repeat a single track or the entire disc. The Repeat function can be activated while a disc is playing or while the disc is stopped.
2 5 INTRO SCAN PL AYBACK (Remote Control Only) This feature allows you to play just the first 10 seconds of each track on the disc. This may be useful when you are trying to locate a specific song but you do not remember the title. Load the disc as usual and wait until the display shows the total playing time and number of tracks.
2 6 PROGRAMMED PL AYBACK This system has a 20 track programmable memor y . You can program up to 20 tracks on a disc to play back in any desired order. Note: You cannot program the player while a disc is playing. You must press the STOP button first to stop playback before beginning the programming steps below.
2 7 After you have programmed up to 20 tracks, press the PL AY/PAUSE button to begin programmed playback. The MEMORY indicator remains in the display and the tracks you selected will be played in the desired orde r.
2 8 OTHER FUNCTIONS MUTE Button (Remote Control Only) To temporarily shut off the sound from the speakers press the MUTE button on the remote control. The MUTE indicator will appear in the display and the sound will stop. Press the MUTE button again to cancel Mute and restore the sound.
2 9 4.) Press the SKIP/SEARCH CONTROLS ( / ) on the front panel of the main unit or the remote control to set the display to the desired turn on minute.
3 0 LISTENING TO AUXILIARY SOUND SOURCES (Main Unit Only) 1.) Connect the Audio Output jacks of your auxiliary sound source (T V , VCR, DVD Playe r , Cassette Deck, Mini Disc playe r, etc., etc,,) to the Aux Input jacks on the back of the Amplifier/Subwoofer unit.
3 1 SLEEP TIMER (Front Panel Only) This system includes a programmable Sleep Timer that allows you to fall asleep to between 10 and 90 minutes of music and then shuts the power ‘ Off ’ automaticall y. To Operate The Sleep Timer: 1.) Turn the system ‘ On ’ and operate either the Tuner or CD function as usual.
3 2 RESET BUTTON This unit includes a special protective device to prevent permanent damage to the internal computer in the event of a sudden power surge.
