1 Introduction 4 About the AcoustiFX The first thi ng you ’ll probabl y notic e about the Acousti FX is its size—it’s not much large r or smaller than most other effect pedals. But don ’t let that fool yo u. Th e A coustiFX does much mo re th an most p edals you’ll find on th e m arket today (and for a n unbeatable price too ).

1 Introduction 6 Programs A program is a combinati on of ef fects module s and their respective s ettings. In PLAY m o de, yo u have quick access to the Aco us t iFX ’s 40 prog ram s via the foot pedal s and the VALUE knob. The programs a re divided up into banks A – D and a re identified by a bank letter and a program numbe r on the display.

A Tour of the AcoustiFX 4 19 Rear Panel The rear panel is where you’ll co nnect th e po wer so urce, optional con trol pedal and your guitar and amplifier. It’s importan t th at you us e th e right types of plugs in thes e jacks . Be sure to follow th ese guidelin es.
5 Selecting Programs 20 After you’ve plug ged ev erything in , yo u’ll probab ly want to check out the facto ry p resets we programm ed into th e AcoustiF X. This chapter s hows you how to do th at. To Select Programs 1. Make sure the AcoustiFX is hooked u p prope rly and turned on, as ou tlined in chapter 3.
6 Editing Programs 21 To Edit a Selected Program 1. Select a program to edit using the foot pedal s or VALUE k nob. 2. Turn the EFF ECT knob t o the effect mo dule o r parameter you wish to modify. 3. Turn the VALUE knob to select an effect typ e o r value for the module.
7 Using the Tuner 22 To Tune Your Guitar 1. In PLAY mode, enter BYPASS mode by pressin g both f oot pedals at t he same time once , or enter MUTE mode by holding the m both d own for more than hal f a se cond. The display will now sh o w tuning information.
Using the Tuner 7 23 Changing Pitch Reference If you turn the VALUE knob while using the tuner, the display shows yo u the setting for t he AcoustiFX’s pi tch reference, wh ich is set to 440Hz (shown as ) for the A note ab o ve middle C. The poss ible range o f values fo r this setting is 35 to 45, which represents 435Hz to 445Hz.
8 Storing & Copying Programs 24 To Store a Program 1. In PLAY or E DIT mode, press the VALUE knob . Th e display will flash the current p rogram number. 2. Use the VALUE kno b o r the foot pedal s to sele ct the program numb er wh ere the current program will be stor ed.
9 Deferred Program Change 25 When you s w itch p rograms, th e Aco ustiFX n orma lly chan ges immediately to the p r o g ram sh o wn on the disp lay. However, in some situations—especial ly wh en playing live— yo u may want the ab ility to scro ll through pro gram n umbers while remaining in the current program setting.

10 EFFECT Knob Settings 27 Following are descriptions of each of the eff ect module s (and other setting s of the EFFE CT knob), along wi th their e ffect types and para meters. PLAY In this setti ng, the di splay shows y ou the cu rrent program number.
10 EFFECT Knob Settings 28 Bright Accentuates th e h igh er frequenci e s fo r a crisp sound us ually fo und in acoustics with smaller bodies. Rhythm A full, warm sound th at’s grea t for strumming rhythm parts. Jumbo Provides a little more lo w-end for that soun d associated with large- body acousti cs.
EFFECT Knob Settings 10 29 This range corresponds to -12dB to +12dB in 1dB steps. Turns off the LO W EQ band. LO MID This EQ band is a parametric band at 700Hz with a Q of 1.5. This type of EQ works by boosting or cutting at 700Hz, alon g with a band of frequencies above and below 700Hz.
10 EFFECT Knob Settings 30 HUM CANCEL The hum cancell er eliminates un wan t ed lo w-end hum by elimin atin g the frequency th at con tains the hum (60Hz). Unlike the high -p ass filter, this mode allows you to co ntro l ho w much noise you wan t to eliminate.
EFFECT Knob Settings 10 31 Flanger Shifts the pitch of the sign al up and do wn, creatin g a swirling effect. Higher values res ult in m o re feedback. Pedal Flanger A flanger wh ose delay is controlle d by the contr ol pedal . Tremolo Varies the volume o f th e signal, creatin g a risin g and falling effect.
10 EFFECT Knob Settings 32 Pedal Wah A wah soun d cont rolled by mo ving the co nt ro l pedal up and down as you play. Rotary Speaker Emulates the so und of the class ic rotary, creating a Doppler effe ct similar to that achi eved by an org an’s rota ting speake r.
EFFECT Knob Settings 10 33 For Cry and Auto Wah, indicates th e attack/releas e rate. Indicates that the contr ol pedal controls the parame ter. Indicates that the effect ass ign ed to the FX1 mo dule do es not have a direct-control parameter (for e xample, 12 -String, Pedal Wah or Pedal Cry) or that FX1 is off.
10 EFFECT Knob Settings 34 Pedal Reverse Reverb A Reverse Reverb effe ct whose wet/dry m ix is co ntrolled by the control pedal . Doubling Doubles th e signal with a s ligh t delay, creating the effect of two instrumen t s playin g at on ce. High er valu es indicate h igher intensity.
EFFECT Knob Settings 10 35 Off Indicates FX2 is off. P ARAM (Dir ect-Contr ol P arameter f or FX2) This direct-control parameter works in a similar fashion as th e on e for FX1.
