5 Oper ating Instructions 1 Safety The safety aspects of this appliance c omply with accepted technical standards and the German Appliance Safety Law . How ever , as manuf ac- turer s we also believe it is our responsibility to familiarise you with the following safety instructions.
6 Safety During Use • This appliance may only be used fo r normal cooking and frying in the home. It is not designed for commercial or industrial purposes. • Do not use the hob to heat the r oom. • Take car e when plugging electric appliances into mains sockets near the hob .
7 How to avoid damage to the appliance • Do not use the cooking area as a worktop or stor age space. • The frameless edge of the glass ce r amic surface is susceptible to knocks. Please be careful when moving pots and pans ar ound. • Do not have the cook zones on with empty pans, or with no pots or pans on them.
8 2 Disposal Disposing of the packagin g material All materials used can be fully r ecycled. Plastics are marked as follows: • >PE< for polyethylene, as used fo r the outer wrapping and the bags inside. • >PS< for polystyrene foam, e.g.
9 The K ey Featur es of Y our Appliance • Induction cooking zones: The appliance is fitted with a ceramic glass hob and induction cooking zones. Induction heats the base of the pan immediately and does not heat the ceramic glass hob fir st. • Sensor fields: Y our appliance is operated using Touch-Contr ol sensor fields.

11 The Digital Displays Digits 1 to 9 and four differ ent letters can appear in the display . • The digits show the heat settin g selected. 1 = Lowest cap acity 9 = Highest capacity p = Pow er l ev .
12 1 Cooking Zone Safety Cut-out If one of th e cooking z ones is not s wit ched off after a certain time or if the heat setting is not chan ged, the corresponding cooking zone switches itself off automatically . h appears in the ring display for al l rings that wer e switched on, and _ after they have cooled down.
13 Function and the Way the In duction Cooking Zone W orks A copper wire induction coil is beneath the ceramic glass cooking sur- face. This generates electr omagnetic fields, which act dir ectly on the base of the pots and pans and not, as with other heating up m ethods, first heating the ceramic glass.
14 Suitable Kitchenwar e for Induction Cooking Zones Po ts an d Pa ns • In principle all pots and pans with magnetic bases ar e suitable. These are steel, steel-enamel as well as cast-iron pots and pans. • High grade steel pans with a mixed metal base (sandwich base, e.
15 Note: Please note the diameter of the pan base when buying new pans, since the manufacturer s usually specif y the top edge diameter of their pans. Automatic Pan Sensing The induction cooking zone does not function when unsuitable pans are used.
16 Befor e using for the first time Initial Cleaning Wipe the ceramic glass surface with a damp cloth. 1 Important: Do not use any caustic, abrasive cleaner s! The surface could be damaged.
17 Switching Off the Appliance To switch off the appliance completely activate the “On/Off” I sensor field. To uch the “On/Off” sensor field for appr ox.
18 Heat Setting Selection For setting and adjusting the heat setting ( 1 to 9 ) for the selected cooking zone. Use sensor field + to increase the heat setting.
19 Activating the P ower Function Using the power function you can incr ease the power of both front cooking zones for 1 0 minutes. With this function you can, for exa mple, bring a lar ge quantity of wa- ter rapidly to the boil or br own meat. To switch on the power function, th e cooking zone must be selected (decimal point in the display).
20 Switching off a cooking zone 1. Select the requir ed cooking zone wi th the cooking zone sensor fields. 2. Touch sensor fields + and - simultaneously to switch off or turn sen- sor field - back to zero. 3 A cooking zone may only be switched off when the decimal point is on in the cooking zone display .
21 Cooking with the Automa tic Heating-Up Function All four cooking zones of the cooking field can be contr olled in nine stages and have an automatic heating-up function: – 1 , Lowest h eat setting – 9 , Highest heat setting – a , Heating-up function.

23 Cooking without the Automa tic Heating-Up Function 1. For heating up/browning, select a high power . 2. As soon as steam forms or the fat is hot, switch back to the r equired heat setting for the remain der of the cooking time. 3. Reset to zer o in order to end cooking.
24 Locking/Unlocking the Contr ol P anel With the exception of the “On/Off” sensor field the control panel can be locked at any requir ed time during cooking in or der to prevent ad- justing the settings such as when wiping over with a cloth. This function is also su itable as a child safety feature.
25 Timer A cooking duration can be set with the integr ated timer for all cooking zones. When the end of the cooking duration is reached, the cooking zone switches itself off automatically . 1. Using the cooking zone sensor field, select the requir ed cooking zone and set the r equired heat sett ing.
26 3 To set the timer more quickly , leave your finger on the + or - sensor field until the r equired time is r eached. If the - sensor field is operated fir st, the time setting will begin at 99 minutes; if the + sensor field is operated fir st, the time setting will begin at 1 minute.
27 Uses , tables and tips Advice on cooking with an d without automa tic warm up The automa tic warm up f unction is suitable for: • dishes that start off cold, ar e heat ed up at high power and do not need to be continually watched when cooking on the selected heat setting, • dishes that ar e put in a hot frying pan.
28 Ta bl es Note: The figures given in the following tables are for guidance. The switch setting requir ed for cooking depends on the quality of the pots and pans and on the type and quantity of the foodstuffs.

30 Cleaning and car e Advantages for Cleaning an d Caring for the Induction Cooking Zone 2 The cleaning effort for induction ce ra mic glass cooking surfaces is con- siderably less than for cooking surfaces with radiant heating: – The induction cooking zone reacts fa st er to switching dow n and off.
31 Stubborn Soiling 1. To r emove food that has boiled over or stubborn splashes, use a glass scraper . 2. Place the glass scraper at an a ngle to the cer amic glass surface. 3. 32 What to do if … Rectifying faults It is possible that faults have been caused by a minor error , which you can correct yourself with the help of the following instructions. Do not attempt any further repair s if the following instructions do not help in each specific case.
33 … the residual heat indicator sudd enly fails to operate except for _ or h . Check whether – the “On/Off” switch was activated by mi stake. – the sensor fields may be partially covered by a damp cloth, liquid or similar . – the safety shut-down was activated.
34 … the power function cannot be switched on? – Switch off the cooking zone for approx. 1 0 m inutes. If this fault occur s re peatedly , check – whether the r equis ite ventilat ion gap between the work surface and the cabinet panel underneath it has been covered over .
35 Installation Instructions 1 Important! The new appliance may only be installed and connected by a register ed specialist . Please observe this instruction, otherwise the warranty will not cover any damage that may occur .
36 Regulations , Standards , Dir ectives This appliance meets the following standards: • EN 60 335-1 and EN 60 335-2-6 relating to the safety of electric al appliances for household use and similar .
37 1 Safety Instructions for the Installer • A device must be pr ovided in the el ectrical installation which allows the appliance to be disconnected fr om the mains at all poles with a contact open.
38 Electrical Connection Before connecting, check that the nominal voltage of the appliance, that is the voltage stated on the ra ting plate, corr esponds to the avail- able supply voltage. The rating plate is located on the lower casing of the hob . The heating element voltage is AC 230 V ~.
