3 3. LED De finitions LED Indicator Color Stat us Description PWR Red On Power is on. Green On The device runs normally . - Off Power is off or the device is down. WLAN Green On Radio switch is turned on. Green Blink Data is being transmitted. - Off Radio switch is shut off.
4 - Off Wi-Fi Protected Setup is disabled. PLC Green On/Blink When PLC rate ﹥ 100Mbps, see note 1 Orange On/Blink When PLC rate in 80-100Mbps, see note 1 Red On/Blink When PLC rate ﹤ 100Mbps, see note 1 LAN Green On Connection succeeds. Green Blink Data is being transmitted.

Software Inst allation Procedure The Configuration Utility for Windows 98 SE/Me/2000/XP/Vista ena bles the users to identify HomePlug devices within the powerline network , measures data rate performance, ensures privacy and performs diagnostics by setting user defined secure powerline networks.
7 2. The following screen will be displayed. Click “Next”. 3. Click “Next” to install the utility in the default folder or assign the destination folder where you would like to install the HomePlug utility.
8 4. Click “Finish” to complete the installation..
9 6. Edimax PowerLine Utility Click “S tart” and select “All ProgramsEd imax PowerLine Utility” in your computer , you will find the HomePlug ut ility . Please refer to the following sections for the descriptions of how to use the utility . Note : The Utility can help you to find all ( 14Mbps / 85Mbp s / 200Mbps) Powerline devies.
10 Upper Panel The upper panel shows all local HomePlug devices connected to the computer ’s NIC (Network Interface Card ). In most cases, only one device will be seen.
11 The “DAK” code is the password. Quality: the st atus of the connecti on quality will be shown here. Rate (Mbp s): show the current dat a rate of the HomePlug device. MAC Address: the device’s MAC address will be shown here. Add Button: it is used to add a remote device to the existing network by entering the device password of the device.
12 Scan Button : the button is used to perform an immediate search of the HomePlug devices connected to the Powe rline network. By default, the utility automatically scans every few sec onds and updates the display screen.
13 Private Network Name: All HomePlug devices are shipped using a default logical network (network name), which is normally “ HomePlug ”. If you wan to set a privacy network, change the network name.
14 6.3 Diagnostics The Diagnostics screen shows System information and a history of all remote devices seen over a period of time. Upper Panel The Upper panel shows technical dat a concerning software and hardware present on the host computer which were used to communicate over HomePlug on the Powerline network.

16 7. Wireless Access Point Configuration 7.1 IP Setting You can configure the HP-2002APn wi reless setting by running the Setup Wizard in the CD-ROM provided in th e package. The wizard provides quick setup for the SSID, wireless security of WPA-PSK and c hanging password of HP-2002APn.
17 2. Select ‘Use the following IP ad dress ’ and you can assign “192.168.2.XXX” (where XXX=10~253), then click ‘OK’. Note : If your original setting of computer is “Obtain an IP address.
18 7.2 Wireless configuration via EZmax CD W izard After you finish IP address configurati on of computer, you can start the Setup of EZmax Wizard, and you will get t he following Welcome screen. Please choose the language to start with and follow the easy steps in the Wizard.
19 7.3 Wireless configuration via W eb Setup If you prefer the traditional web setup, please follow the procedures in this Manual to configure the HP-2002APn.
20 Device Info – This page shows you “Firmware V ersion / MAC address / IP address and Wireless information” LAN For you to setup HP-2002APn’ s IP address, enable/disable DHCP , IGMP and IP address pool. Wireless Y ou can setup SSID, wirele ss security and ACL here.
21 7.3.1 LAN configuration The default IP address of HP-2002APn is “192.168.2.8”, if you would like change the default settings. Y ou can assign a new one here. Please note if new IP address is not in same segment with current IP address of your desktop, you will not configure HP-2002APn unless you change computer ’ s IP address again.
22 Field Description interface. The default setting is Disable. LAN 2 IP Address The second IP address of the LAN interface. This IP address should not collide wit h the IP address of the interior network. LAN 2 Subnet Mask The subnet mask of the sec ond IP address of the LAN interface.
23 7.3.1 Wireless Settings This page is for you to setup wireless settings. The parameters of W ireless Network are described as follows: Field Description Radio On/Off Enable or disable wireless LAN interface. Network Mode Y ou may select a proper netwo rk mode in the drop down list.
24 Field Description Name (SSID) characters. The legal characters include letter , number underline or the combination of these characters. Multiple SSID1~7 Accessional network SSID. Each SSID can use wireless security setting independently . Broadcast Network Name (SSID) Whether to broadcast SSID.
25 Step 1 On the Basic Wireless Settings p age, set the WDS mode to be Lazy Mode , set the same phy mode and encryp type with the peer AP, and then enter the MAC address of the peer AP. After finishing the settings, click the Apply button to apply the settings.
26 Field Description Encryp Ty p e The encryption types you can select include NONE, WEP , TKIP , and AES. If selecting WEP , TKIP , or AES, you need to set the encryption key . Encryp Key Set the encryption key . AP MAC Address The MAC address of another AP that connects to the HP-2002APN by WDS.
27 Set the Frequency(channel) according wit h the peer AP (An AP that wants to connect to the HP-2002APN by WDS). On the Basic Wireless Settings page, set the WDS mode to be Repeater Mode, set the same physical mode and encrypt ion type with the peer AP, and then enter the MAC address of t he peer AP.
28 Click Wireless Settings --> Security to di splay the Wireless Security/Encryption Settings page. On this page, set the security mode of the HP-2002APN to accord with the peer AP. Note: In the WDS mode, don’t set any mixed modes, for example, WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK.
29 HT Physical Mode The parameters of HT Physical Mode are described as follows: Field Description Operation Mode Y ou may select Mixed Mode or Green Field. The default operation mode is Mixed Mode. Channel BandWidth Y ou may select 20 or 20/40. The default channel bandwidth is 20/40.
30 Field Description secondary bandwidth. When dat a is being transmitted, it can act as 40MHz bandwidth, and it can also act s as 20 MHz bandwidth independently . In this way , the data rate is doubled. Aggregation MSDU (A-MSDU) Enable or disable A-MSDU.
31 7.3.1 Advanced Wireless Settings On this page, you may configure advanced wireless p arameters, such as beacon interval, data beacon rate, and Tx power . Note: The advanced wireless setting is only for advanced user . For the common user , do not change any setting on this page.
32 Field Description BG Protection Mode Y ou may select On, Off, or Auto. The default BG protection mode is Auto. Beacon Interval By default, wireless beacon signal sends data to station every other 100 ms. The range is 20~999. Data Beacon Rate (DTIM) The default DTIM is 1ms.
33 1) WMM Access Categories At present, WMM defines traffi c into 4 access categories. AC_VO: V o ice (highest priority) AC_VI: V ideo (high priority) AC_BE: Best effort (medium priority) AC_BK: Background (low priority) 802.
34 2) Set WMM Parameters Click the WMM Configuration button, the follo wing page appears. On this page, you can configure W MM p arameters of access point and station.The p arameters are described as follows: Field Description Aifsn Aifsn (Arbitrary Inter-F rame S pace Number).
35 Field Description If this value is 1, it means the client is in the charge of the access commands. Ackpolicy When WMM packets are transmi tting, AP will receive an echo request. If you set this value is 0, it means AP does not send back an echo request, which will brings positive effect for WMM.
36 Step 4 If DLS succeeds, you can view the MA C address of wireless card A on the WMM page of wireless card B, and vice versa. Multicast-to-Unicast Converter Enable or disable Multicast-to-Unica st. After enabling this function, the transmission quality of wireless mult icast stream can be improved.
37 This page allows you to configure wireless security modes and set the encryption keys, to prevent unauthorized access and monitoring. Select SSID SSID choice: select SSID that you want to configure.

41 Field Description Session T imeout If this value is 0, it indicate s that there is no session time limit. Idle T imeout Set the idle timeout. 5) WP A-PSK The parameters of WPA-PSK mode are described as follows: Field Description Security Mode Select WP A-PSK.
42 6) WP A2 The parameters of WPA2 are described as follows: Field Description Security Mode Select WP A2. WP A Alg orithms Y ou may select TKIP , AES, or TKIP AES Key Renewal Interval Set the key renewal interval. PMK Cache Period Set the PMK (Pairwise Master Key) cache period.
43 Field Description IP Address The IP address of RADIUS server . Port The default port number is 1812. Y ou may change it according to the server setting. Shared Secret The shared key that RADIUS server needs to authenticate. Session T imeout If this value is 0, it indicates that there is no session time limit.

45 9) WP A1WP A2 The par ameters of WP A1WP A2 are described as follows: Field Description Security Mode Select WP A1WP A2. WP A Algorithms Y ou may select TKIP , AES, or TKIP AES. Key Renewal Interval Set the key renewal interval. IP Address The IP address of RADIUS server .
46 10) 802.1X The parameters of 802.1X mode are described as follows: Field Description Security Mode Select 802.1X. IP Address The IP address of RADIUS server . Port The default port number is 1812. Y ou may change it according to the server setting.
47 Access Policy The parameters of Access Policy are described as follows: Field Description Policy Disable: S top the access cont rol to the wireless devices in the MAC list. Allow: Allow the access control to the wireless devices in the MAC list. Reject: Reject the access control to the wireless devices in the MAC list.
48 On this page, you can modify the WPS settings. WPS can make your client automatically synchronize with the AP setting, and establish connection. WPS Config.
49 WPS: enable or disable WPS. After enabling WPS, you can configur e the parameters re lated to WPS. WPS summary displays the preset WPS information, such as WPS current status, WPS authentication m ode, and WPS encryption type. Click the Reset OOB button to display the WPS default settings.
