3 Introduction Congratulations on purc hasing this Broadband Ro uter . This Broad band R outer is a cost-effective IP Sharing Ro uter that enables multiple users to share the Inte rnet through an ADSL or cable modem.
4 Front Panel On the router ’s front panel there are LED lights that inform you of the r outer ’s cu rrent status. Below is an explanation of each LED and its description.
5 operating systems (Macintosh, Sun, etc.), follo w the manufacturer ’s instructions. The following is a step-by-step illustration on how to configure your PC to obtain an IP address automatically for 2a) Windows 95/98/Me , 2b) Windows XP , 2c) Wind ows 2000 and 2d) Wi ndows NT .
6 5. Click OK to confirm the setting. Y our PC will now obtain an IP address automatically from your Broadband Router ’s DHCP server . Note : Please make sure that the Broadband router ’ s DHCP serv er is the only DHCP server available on your LAN.
7 2d) Windows V ista IP address setup: 1. Click ‘S tart’ button (it should be located at lo wer-left co rner of your computer), t hen click control panel. Click Vi ew Network St atus and T asks , then click Manage Network Connections.. Right-click Loc al Area Netwrok, then select ‘Properties’.

9 6) The HOME page screen belo w will appear . The Home Page is divided into four sec tions, Quick Setup Wizard , General Setup , St atus Infor mation, and T ools. Quick Setup Wizard (Chapter 1) Select your Internet connection type and then input the configurat ions needed to connect to your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
10 7) Click on Quick Setup Wizard (see chapter 1) to start configuring settings required by your ISP so that you can start accessing the Internet. The other secti ons (General Setup, St atus Information and T ools) do not need to be config ured unless you wish to implement /monitor more advance features/information.
11 Chapter 1 Quick Setup The Quick Setup section is d esigned to get you using th e br oadband r outer as quickly as possi ble. In the Quick Setup you are required to fill in onl y the information necessary to access the Internet. Once you click on the Quick Setup Wizard in the HOME page, you should see the screen below .
12 Menu Description 1.1 Dynamic IP Y our ISP will automatically give you an IP address 1.2 S tatic IP Address Y our ISP has given you an IP address already 1.3 PPPoE Y our ISP requires you to use a Point-to-P oint Protocol over Ether net (PPPoE) connection.
13 Parameters De scription Clone MAC Y our ISP may require a particular MAC ad dress in order for you to connec t to the Internet. This MAC address is the PC’s MAC addr ess that your ISP had originally connected your Internet connection to.
14 Click < OK> when you hav e finished the configurati on above. Congratulations ! Y ou have completed the configuration for the S tatic IP Address c onnection. Y ou ca n start using the router no w , if you wish to use some of th e advance features supported by this router see chapter 2, 3, 4.
15 1.4 PPTP Select PPTP if your ISP requires the PPT P protocol to conn ect you to the Internet. Y our ISP should provide all the information required in this section. Parameter Description Obtain an IP address The ISP requires you to obtain an IP address by DHCP server before co nnecting automatically to the PPTP server .
16 Click < OK> when you hav e finished the configurati on above. Congratulations ! Y ou have completed the configuration for the PPTP connection. Y ou can start using t he router now , if you wish to use some of the advance feat ures supported b y this router see chapter 2, 3, 4.
17 Auth T y pe Select P AP or CHAP for the aut hentication type requested by yo ur ISP . Click < OK> when you hav e finished the configurati on above.
18 Chapter 2 General Settings Once you click on the General Setup button at the Home Page, you should see the screen belo w . If you have already configure d the Quick Setup Wizard y ou do NOT need to configure anyt hing thing in the Gener al Setup screen for you to start using the Internet.
19 Parameters Description 2.1.1 T ime Zone Select the time zone of the countr y you are currently in. T he router will set its time based on your selection. 2.1.2 Password Settings Allows you to select a pa ss word in order to access the web-based management website.
20 Parameters Description Account Enter your account name to login to your Broadba nd router . Password Enter your password Retype your Enter your password again for verification purposes Password Not.
21 2.2 W AN Use the W AN Settings screen if you have already configur ed the Quick Setup Wizard section and you would like to change your I nternet connection type. T he W AN Settings screen allows to specify the type of W AN port connect you want to establish with your I SP .

23 Parameters Description IP address This is the router ’s LAN port IP address (Y our LAN clients default gateway IP address) IP Subnet Mask S pecify a Subnet Mask for your LAN segment DHCP Server S tatus Y ou can enab le or disable the DHCP server .
24 2.4.1 Port-based QoS For Application based QoS, user can spec ify a destination port numb er and associate it with an egres s priority (High or Low). For example, if user c onfigures port 7297 with high pr iority , then user w ould experience better service quali ty for such flows.
25 Parameters Description Src/dst If you want to monitor the source IP of the packets, please select src IP . Otherwise, please select dst IP . IP Address S pecify the IP Address that y ou want to limit the transmit/receive rate. IP Mask If you want to limit a subnet, you can specify the subnet mask here.
26 2.5 NA T Network Address T ranslation (NA T) allows multiple users at your local site to access the Internet thro ugh a single Public IP Address or multiple Public IP Addresses.
27 Parameters Description W AN Port Range Enter the service (service/Inte rnet app lication) port number from t he Internet that will be re-directed to the above Priva te IP address host in your LAN Note : Virtual Server function will have priority ov er the DM Z function if there is a conflict between the Virtual Server and the DMZ settings.
28 Example: Virtual Serv er The diagram below demonstrates one of th e ways you can use the Virtual Server function. Use the Virtual Server when you want the web server loc ated in your pri vate LAN to be accessible to Inter net users.
29 Note : Individual port numbers are separated by a comma (e.g. 47624, 5775, 6 541 etc.). T o input a port range us e a “dash” to separate the two port number range (e.g. 2300-2400) T rigger T ype Select whether the outbound por t protocol is “TCP”, “UDP” or both.
30 Parameters Description Enable Y ou can select to enable “Applic ation Layer Gateway”, then the router will let that application correctly pass though the NA T gateway . Click < Apply> at the bottom of the screen to save the above c onfigurations.
31 2.5.5 St atic Routing This router provides S tatic Routing func tion whe n NA T is disabled. With St atic Routing, the rout er can for ward packets according to your routing rules . The IP sharing f unction will not work anymore in S tatic Routing mode.
32 Parameters Description 2.6.1 Access Control List Access Cont rol List allo ws you to specify which hosts users can or cannot have access to certain Internet applications 2.6.2 URL Filter URL Filter allo ws you to s pecify which URLs can’t be accessed by users.
33 Day/T ime Y ou can select a range of da y and time that the specified PCs will not able to access the Internet on these time period. Enable Y ou can Ena ble/Disable some policies by check their ena ble checkbox.
34 2.6.3 Anti-DoS (Denial of Service) The Broadband router's fire wall can block common hacker attacks, in cluding Denial of Service, Ping of Death, Port Scan and Sync Flood, .etc. If Internet attacks occur the router can log the ev ents. Parameters Description DoS Prevention Enable Enables selected Anti-DoS features.
35 Whole system flood System-wide DoS threshold for SYN/FIN/UDP/ICMP flooding. Per-source IP flood SYN/F IN/UDP/ICMP flooding thresh old per host. Offending host would be blocked for 120 seconds (default) if Source IP Blocking is enabled. Whole system FlowCnt Control System-wide Flow Count Control for TCP/UDP or Both protocol.
36 Chapter 3 Stat u s The S tatus section allows you to monitor the current status of your r outer . Y ou can use t he St atus page to monitor: the connection status of the Broadband rout er's W .
37 3.1 St atus and Information The S tatus and Information section allows you to vie w the router ’s system information Parameters Description Information Y ou can se e the router ’s system informati o n such as the router ’s: System Information, LAN Information, W AN Information , and Wireless Information.
38 3.2 Logs This router supports five types of Log messages: System Log, ACL Log, URL filter , DoS Log and New connection Log. Y ou can Enable or Disable e ach of these Logs.
