5 Chapter 2 Working with Discs This chapter describes how the DiscPainter printer works with in kjet -print able discs. About Printable CDs/DVDs Inkjet-printable CDs and DVDs are available in two basic sizes (diameters): Standard size (120 mm) and Mini size (80 mm).
Working with Discs 6 Drying Time Drying times will vary based on the disc ty pe and ink density used. Most discs should dry within seconds; however , depending on ink density , so me discs may require much longer to dry . In general, do not touch th e printed surface until you are sure it is dry and only handle the disc by holding the edge.

9 Chapter 3 Printing from Mac OS The chapter describes how to print on a DYMO Di scPainter printer from Mac OS and covers the following t opics: • Controlling printer features • Printing fr om other sof tware Note See "Using Printer Services" on page 23 for in formation about using print er services from Mac OS or W indows.
Printing from Mac OS 10 4 Make any necessary adjustments to the settings. The settings are described in detail in this chapter . 5 When you are finished select ing printer features, click Print . Controlling Print Quality Y ou can choose from several print quality options.
Controlling Printer Features 11 The Ink Density control on th e Di scPainter Properties dialog box has nine setti ngs. Experiment with the settings to see what works best for your inkjet-printable media. To select the ink density ♦ From the Print dialog box, select the setting that you want to use from the Ink Density drop- down list.

However , if you change the print options from wi thi n an appl ication (such as Adobe Photoshop), the settings you define are n ot saved.
Printing From Windows 18 Controlling Ink Density Y ou can easily adjust the ink density (amou nt of i nk) printed on discs. Less ink results in images that are less dense; more in k results in denser im ages. In general, the disc’ s finish (matte, glossy , color , and so on) determines the ink density you should use.
Printing to the DiscPainter Printer 19 The calipers correspond to the values displayed in the Inner Diameter (mm ) and Outer Diameter (mm) fields. The values (in millimeters) in these fiel ds control the printable area on the disc.

Caring for Your Printer 24 To access printer services from Mac OS 1 From the Finder, select Applications>Utilities >Printer Setup Utility . The Printer List dialog box is displayed. 2 Select DiscPainter from the Printer List . 3 Click . The Printer Services dialog box is displayed .
Replacing the Inkjet Cartridge 25 Cleaning the Inkjet Cart rid ge Y ou can clean the inkjet cartridge to help elimin ate print output problems related to the inkjet nozzles. If you see white li nes (blank lines where ink should appe ar), this could mean one or more of the small nozzles that deli ver th e ink are clogged.
Caring for Your Printer 26 To replace the inkjet cartridge 1 Open the top cover . 2 Push the blue cartridge release lever to unlock the purple cartridge latch. 3 Remove the old cartridge. 4 Carefully remove the new inkjet cartridge from the packag ing.
Cleaning the Printer 27 6 Insert the inkjet cartridge into the cartrid ge bay wit h the label facing up and the gold contacts towards the front of th e prin ter . 7 Press the purple cartridge la tch down until it locks in place. 8 Close the top cover .

Printing Over a Network 32 2 Double-click Print & Fax . The Print & Fax dialog box is displayed. 3 Select the printer you want to share and then click Sharing . The Sharing pane is disp layed. 4 Select the Share these printers with other computers check box and then sele ct the check box in front of each printer you wish to share.

Printing Problems 41 Printer Status Lights The Power and Ink LED status lights on top of the printer indicate the current status of the printer .
