36 What are Locks? Chapter 6 W HAT ARE L OCKS ? Locks allow you to password-protect pr ogramming based on ratings, or on a ch annel-by- channel basis. When you have locked the receiver: • If you try to access a locked item or open the Locks men u, the rec eiver displays a message prompting you to ente r the password.

46 What is DVR? Chapter 8 W HAT IS DVR? The Digital Video Recorder (DVR) featu res let you watch TV the way you want. You can pause, reverse, or skip back thro ugh a pr ogram. Then you can continue watching TV. Also, you can record and play back programs w ith full digital audio and video quality, without a VCR.

52 Timers and Recordings Chapter 9 T IMERS AND R ECORDINGS A timer is your instruction tellin g the satellite receiver the programs you w ant to view in the future. For most Digital Video Re corder (DVR) timers, you select a specific program o n a specific channel, and tell the sa tellite receiver how often you wa nt to rec ord that program.
Record Future Programs 53 Using the Timers List • You can override a specific timer's prior ity by skippin g or restoring a specific program. Select a timer in the Daily Schedule , then you'll have a n optio n to Skip or Rest ore for that timer (see page 54).
54 Using the Daily Schedule Chapter 9 U SING THE D AILY S CHEDULE The Daily Schedule lists the timers that are pl anned for toda y, up to nine days in the future, and those that occurred in the re cent past. U se the Da ily Schedule to : • Review today's timers.

Changing the Remote Control Address Because UHF signals travel long distances and go through walls, a ne ighbor’s remote may control your rece iver by mistake.
