37 Setting Up Y our Favorites List s Favorites List s One of the benefit s of DISH Network is that you have access to many channels. However , the number of channels can make it difficul t to find something to watch. When you read this chapter , you’ll learn how to set up and use Fav orites Lists.
Chapter 5 38 What are Favorit es Lists? W HAT ARE F AVORITES L IST S ? Favorites Lists are list s of your favorite channels. Y ou can create and change the list s yourself, adding and re moving channels as you wish. Y our favorite channels can be grouped into up to four list s for TV1 and four lists for TV2 (in Dual Mode).

Chapter 5 40 Tips T IP S • T wo lists cannot have the same name . Fo r example, on TV1, you cannot have two lists name d “Dad’s List.” However , TV1 and T V 2 can have list s with the same names. • Pressing GUIDE to switch Favorites Lists works only if you have added channels to the Favorites List.
41 Setting Up Locks Parent al Controls An important concern to pa rents is the ability to protect their children. With high tech television comes greater poten tial for unwa nted programming beamed into your home. Use the safeguards described in this chapter to set up and use locks.
Chapter 6 42 What are Locks? W HAT ARE L OCKS ? Locks (Parental Controls) allo w you to password-prote ct programming based on ratings, or on a chann el-by-channel basis. When you have locked the receiver: • If you try to access a locked item or open the Locks men u, the rec eiver displays a message prompting you to ente r the password.

For example, use TV1’ s password to unlock TV1’s locks and TV2’s p a ssword for TV2’s locks.

51 Setting Up and Using T imers T imers Have you found yourself having to make a choice betwe en watching your favorite shows and living your life away from television? This chapte r shows you how to set up to recor d future programs on a VCR so that yo u’ll never miss your favorite shows.
Chapter 8 52 Tim er s T IMERS A timer is your instruction telling the satellite receiver the programs you want to view in the future. For most VCR timers, you select a specific progr am on a specific channe l, and tell the satellite receiver how often you want to record th at program.
Timers 53 Timers When a T imer St art s a Recording For two minutes before a timer start s a recording, the receiver ma y display a digital count down on the TV screen. This symbol disappears when the program begins. While the symbol is displayed, you may do on e of the following: • Press CANCEL to clear the symbol from the TV screen.
Chapter 8 54 Using the Timers List S pecial Considerations When Using Timers • For Locked Programs - Y ou must enter the rece iver password before you can create an automatic t imer . Y ou can create a manual timer for a locked prog ram without entering t he password.
