WARNING: Before installing in a solid fuel burning fireplace, the chimney flue and firebox must be cleaned of soot, creosote, ashes and loose paint by a quali- fied chimney cleaner.
8 104340 VENT -FREE NA TURAL GAS LOG HEA TER If Using Mantel You must have noncombustible material(s) above the fireplace opening. Noncombus- tible materials (such as slate, marble, tile, etc.) must be at least 1/2 inch thick. With sheet metal, you must have noncombustible material behind it.

If you do not meet the clear- ances listed in Figure 7, you will need a hood.
