7 INTRODUCTION Thank you for choosing the ECAM 23.450 auto- matic coffee and cappuccino maker . We hope you enjoy using your new appliance. T ake a few minutes to read these instructions. This will avoid all risks and damage to the ma- chine. Symbols used in these instructions Important warnings are identified by these symbols.
8 DESIGNA TED USE This appliance is designed and made to prepare coffee and heat drinks. All other use is considered improper . This appliance is not suitable for commercial use. The manufacturer is not liable for damage deri- ving from improper use of the appliance.

11 Auto-start Y ou can set the auto-start time in order to have the appliance ready at a certain time (for example in the morning) so you can make coffee imme- diately . Please note! T o activate this function, the time must already have been set correctly .
12 Activate/deactivate the beep This activates or deactivates the beep emitted by the machine each time the buttons are pressed or an accessory is inserted/removed. The beep is active by default. T o deactivate or reactivate the beep, proceed as follows: 1.
13 Customising the “my coffee” quantity The appliance is set by default to automatically deliver 30 ml of “my coffee”. T o modify this quantity , proceed as follows: 1. Place a cup under the coffee spouts (fig. 9). 2. T urn the selection knob until “MY COFFEE” is displayed.

17 5. Soak the infuser in water for about 5 minu- tes, then rinse under the tap. 6. Use the brush (C2) to remove any coffee residues left in the infuser housing, visible through the infuser door . 7. After cleaning, replace the infuser by sliding it onto the internal support; then push the PUSH symbol fully in until it clicks into place.
18 Please note! Use De’Longhi descaler only . Under no circumstances should you use sulpha- mic or acetic based descalers. Their use invalida- tes the guarantee. Failure to descale the applian- ce as described also invalidates the guarantee. 1. T urn the machine on and wait for the applian- ce to be ready for use.
