CyberLink Pow erDVD is a sof tware disc player with all the features and controls of a regular living-room disc player . CyberLink Po we rDVD offers feature-rich na vigation controls for an interactive and tailored viewing experience .
CyberLink P owerDVD 2 Main Features CyberLin k Po werDVD supports the playback of Blu-ray 3D Discs*, Blu-ra y Discs*, DVDs, VCD s and a number of video and audio file f ormats. Y ou can also play back A VCHD* and A VCREC* discs in some versions of C yberLink P owerDVD .

CyberLink P owerDVD 4 Upgrading Y our Software Software upgrades and enhancements are periodically available from CyberLink. CyberLink P owerDVD automatically prompts you when either is available. Note: you must connect to the Internet to u se this featur e.

CyberLink P owerDVD 10 Playing Media CyberL ink P owerDV D supports the playback of a variety of different media for your conv enience. F rom high definition content and DVDs , to video files, audio CDs , and music files. C yberLink Pow erDVD pr o vides you with the complete digital media playback experience.
Chapter 2: Using P owerDVD 11 Playing Movie Discs Wh en you in se r t a vi de o d is c (B l u-r ay 3 D Di sc*, Blu-ray Disc*, DV D, V C D, S V C D ) i n t o your disc drive, CyberLink Po werDVD plays it automatically . If the re is a disc already in your disc drive when you opened C yberLink Po werDVD , selec t the Movie tab (BD*, DVD , VCD , etc.
CyberLink P owerDVD 12 Playing Movie R emixes Movie Remixes are par odies or alternate versions of movies. Y ou can create them within the Movie Remix room* of C yberLin k Pow erDVD or download existing ones from the MoovieLive web site. Note: * thi s feature is not a vailable in some versions of CyberLink P owerDVD .

T o upload a non-copyrighted video to Y ouT ube*, do this: Note: you can only upload one video at a time. 1. Click on the Video tab. 2. Select the video you want to upload to Y ouT ube and then click .

Select t he Done button once your video is uploaded. Playing Music Click on the Music tab to play audio CDs and files in CyberLink Po werDVD .
CyberLink P owerDVD 16 4. T o add a music file to the playlist, selec t it, click the Add to Pla ylist button and then select the playlist you just created from the pop-up list. Y ou can also drag and drop the music files on to the pl aylist name in the Playlists pane.
Chapter 2: Using P owerDVD 17 Adjust Pitch Y ou can adjust the pitch of your karaoke titles u sing the Adjust Pitch function. T o adjust pitch, d o the following: 1. Right click on the button within More F unct ions. 2. Select Ad ju st Pi tch and then make your selection.
CyberLink P owerDVD 18 B Media pla yback menu When playing mo vie discs and videos you can select subtitles, set playback language , or choose a viewing angle. When playing movie discs y ou can also access the Chapter Viewer , Shor t Comments, and the Movie Info , Movie Collection and Movie Remix windows.

CyberLink P owerDVD 20 Extra Playback Buttons The following butt ons are av ailable on the playback controls during the playback of videos and music. Media Playback Menu Depending on the media you are playing , the media playback menu provides quick access to a number of useful functions and features in C yberLink Po werDVD .
Chapter 2: Using P owerDVD 21 • Closed Captions : if supported by y our disc title, close captioning is made av ailable by national organizations and is tailored towards the hearing impaired. The captions are f ound in video content and in the form of tex t located somewhere on the picture.
CyberLink P owerDVD 22 • Primary Subtitles : lets you selec t the default subtitles. Primary Subtitl es usually display at the bott om of the screen. • Viewing Angles : when available on some disc title s, select this option to switch among camera angles.
Chapter 2: Using P owerDVD 23 Music Playback Menu When playing back music files or an audi o CD in CyberLink P owerDVD, select the menu to access the equalizer preset s used to enhanc e audio . The audio preset you should select, depends on th e type audio or genre of music you are playing back.

Chapter 2: Using P owerDVD 25 BookMark Viewer In the BookMark V iewer you can view and edit all of the book marked scenes and associated comments for the current DVD or video you are playing .
CyberLink P owerDVD 26 In the BookMark V iewer , you can per form the follo wing tasks: Note: some of these tasks are not ava ilable for video BookMarks. • if required, select a different movie from the a vailable list to view its BookMarks. The DVD f or the movie must be in the driv e to view the book marked scenes.
Chapter 2: Using P owerDVD 27 the right. Click on Exit to hide the BookMarks and comments, or just to hide the comments. More Functions Opening the More F unc tions window giv es you access to some advanced playback features such as See-It-All, Snapshot and Next Angle.
CyberLink P owerDVD 28 AB R epeat AB Repeat is a customizable repeat function that lets you select any part of the movie for repeated pla yback. The starting po int of the repeating playback is call ed A and the end is called B. This is diff eren t from Say I t Aga in, w hich only repea ts t he current dialog.
Chapter 2: Using P owerDVD 29 T o use AB Repeat, do this: 1. During playback, set poi nt A by clic k ing the button at the beginning of the segment you would like to repeat . 2. Click again to set point B , or where you would like the segment to end. The segment will repeat and loop continuously .

Ne xt Angle This feature has not gained prominence as of yet among disc authors, but is availa ble on occasion for music concert di scs.

Chapter 2: Using P owerDVD 33 T rueTheater Video Effects During the playback of DVDs and video files, you can enable T rueTheater video effects to maximize the video playback quality . Note: CyberLink Po werDVD cannot apply certain T rue Theater video effects to some video file formats.
CyberLink P owerDVD 34 High-ISO and T V signal noise. Once enab led , drag the slider to increase or decrease the level of noise red uction on the vi deo. Note: thi s feature is not a vailable for DVD playback. • T rueTheater Stabilizer : select this option to employ motion c ompensation technology when playin g home video files that are shak y .
Chapter 2: Using P owerDVD 35 Note: if you select Use S/PDIF or HDMI as y o ur speaker envir onment, then T rueTheater audio effects are disab led. 2. Select the T rueTheater Surro und option to use the T rueTheater Surround audio effect as the Output mode or special processing that is used on the audio signal.
CyberLink P owerDVD 36 If you did no t set up your 3D display device at first launch, you can do so at any time in the 3D Display Configur ation window . See "3D Displ ay C onfiguration" on pa ge 3 6 fo r m ore in form at ion . Note: a number of features are disabled during 3D play back.
Chapter 2: Using P owerDVD 37 selecting the opposite eye view. This switches the way the 3D content is displa yed on your displa y device, and ma y reduce the disc omfort. CyberLink P owerDVD 38 Express Menu The Express Menu provides quick access to many of CyberLink P owerDVD’ s controls and options during playback. T o access it, simply right-click the mouse button on the video content windo w .
Chapter 2: Using P owerDVD 39 Express Menu Preferences Select Show/Hide C o ntrols to select which set s of controls you would like to display in the Express menu. T o hide a set of controls , just deselect it from the list. Basic Control s Playback Controls Includes basic playback contr ols (Play , Stop, P ause, etc.

CyberLink P owerDVD 46 Extra Hotk eys for Special Keyboards CyberLin k Po werDVD also pro vides hotk eys for computers using keyboards that contain extra keys. Accessing Disc Menus in Po w e r DV D When playing media with CyberLink Po werDVD you can con veniently access the disc menus in a variety of ways.
Chapter 2: Using P owerDVD 47 Menus on Commercial Discs During the playback of most commercial discs with CyberLink P owerDVD , you can access the Titl e Me nu , Root Menu (for special f eatures), Subtitles Menu , Aud io Menu , Angle Menu or the Chapter Menu from v arious locations.
CyberLink P owerDVD 48 Blu-ray Disc Mouse Solution Some Blu-ray Disc titles do not allo w yo u to use a mouse to navigate through the pop-up menu. If this is the case when yo u are playing a Blu-ray D.
Chapter 2: Using P owerDVD 49 1. Right-click on the naviga tional slider . The Time Search dialog box displays. 2. Enter the time code (in hours, mi nutes and seconds) and then click OK .
CyberLink P owerDVD 50 CyberLin k Po werDVD supports the following subtitle fo rmats: SMI, ASS, SAA, PSB, SRT , SUB. C ybe rLink P owerDVD also pro v ides support for different languages if there is a language identifier i n the file name, e.g . xxxx.

CyberLink P owerDVD 52 Adding a Movie to MoovieLive If the movie you are watching is not currently found on MoovieLive, you can add the information yourself and then upload it. Note: it is recommended that y ou first click and use the sear ch function to try and find the movie on MoovieLive bef ore tr ying to add it.

Editing Chapter Titles CyberLin k Po werDVD lets you ent er titles fo r all of the chapters on a disc.

CyberLink P owerDVD 56 Adding Movies to My Movies Y ou can add more movies to your C ollection at any time, even if you ha ve not yet watched them with CyberLink P owerDVD. T o add more movies, do this: 1. Click on the Add Movie button. 2. In the Search F or Movie window , enter in the name of movie you want t o add and then click OK .

CyberLink P owerDVD 58 M o v i e Re m i x Ro o m Y ou can create your own versions and parodies of your favorite mo vies in the Movie Remix room*. Y ou can then upload your Movie Remixes to the Moo vieLive web site and share them with other fans of a movie.
Chapter 3: Pow erDVD Movie Extras 59 Selecting Scenes The first step in creating a Movie Remix is to select the scenes that you want to use. Y ou may select as many scenes as you want fr om a particular movie. T o select a new scene , do this: 1. In the Movie Remix window , ensure that the original movie is displayed b y clicking on the button.
CyberLink P owerDVD 60 Adding Effects Adding effects to your scenes can bring attention to a par ticular moment or add humor through the use of objects, images, custom subtitles, background music, and more. T o add an effect to a scene, do this: 1. Double-click on the scene in the scene/ effect panel that you want to add the effect to .

Click on the added effect (if applicable) and then drag it to the de sired position. 5. Resize the effect to the desired size b y click ing and dragging a corner or an edge.
CyberLink P owerDVD 62 6. Click on the button to stop re cording and add the audio to y our scene. T he added audio icon will display indicating that audio was added to the scene. Note: the duration the ef fect is displayed depend s on the default settings specified on the Movie Remix tab .

Edit the propertie s as follows: • Start time : if required, select a new start time for the effect to appear in your Movie Remix.

CyberLink P owerDVD 78 Audio Settings The Au di o tab lets you optimize the sound for media play ed in CyberLink Powe r DV D. Speaker environment Note: these settings are disabled in versions of Cybe rLink P owerDVD that use Dolb y PCEE to op timize sound f or media playba ck.

Chapter 4: Settings 81 S/PDIF Output M odes The following output modes ar e av ailable during the pl ayback of Bl u-ray Disc titles when S/PDIF is selected as the speaker environment. The mode that you should select depends on the external decoder (A V Receiver) connected to your computer .
CyberLink P owerDVD 82 option if your amplifier/receiver suppor ts D olby Digital or DTS to enable either during playback, when available. • Non-decoded high-definition audio to external de vice (HDMI 1.3 only) : this mode passes lossless audio through to yo ur external decoder (A V receiver).

Chapter 4: Settings 91 Data language The Data language option lets you select the language of the movie inf ormation that is impor ted from the MoovieLive web site into C yberLink PowerDVD . • Select Same as UI language to use the same language as specified on the User Interface Settings tab.
