10 Using y our Range The Cooktop When y ou cook on a electric cooktop its ver y impor tant to use the right sort of pans... 1 Use only pans that are suitable f or elec tric cooktops . W e recommend stainless steel and enameled steel pans because pots and pans with copper or aluminum bases leave traces on the c ooktop that are diffi cult to remove .
11 Using y our Range 9 Although the cooktop surface is ver y strong , a heavy or sharp falling object (a salt shaker for example) might cause the sur face to crack. If you fi nd a crack in the sur face immedia tely disconnect the appliance from the supply and arrange for its r epair .
12 Using y our Range The Br oiler Before using f or the first time, to dispel manufacturing odors, turn on the broiler and run for 30 minutes with the broiler pan in position. T o clear the smell make sure the room is well v entilated to the outside air , by opening window s for example .
13 Using y our Range The Ovens The clock must be set to the time of day bef ore the ovens will w ork. S ee ‘ The Clock ’ section for instructions on setting the time of day . Before using f or the fi rst time , to dispel manufacturing odors turn the ovens to 400°F (204°C) and run for an hour .

17 Using y our Range M ulti-function ov en The left hand oven of y our range is Multi-func tion. It has many varied uses. W e suggest you keep a careful eye on y our cooking until you are familiar with each function. Remember - not all func tions will be suitable for all f ood types.
18 Using y our Range Conventional ov en (top and base heat) This function combines the heat from the top and base elements. It is par ticularly suitable for roasting and baking pastr y , cakes and biscuits.
19 Using y our Range Oven racks the rack guar d should be at the back pointing upwards As well as the fl at racks some models are supplied with drop racks. The drop racks increase the possibilities for ov en rack spacing. fl at r ack drop rack The ov en racks can be easily removed and refi tted.
20 Using y our Range T o remove the dr awer pull it righ t out Lift up the ends of the plastic clips (one each side) to release the catches holding the dra wer to the side runners and at the same time pull the drawer forward and away fr om the side runners.

23 Using y our Range Cleaning your range Essential information Befor e thorough cleaning isolate the electricity supply . Remember to switch on the electricity supply befor e use. Never use paint solvents , washing soda, caustic cleaners, biologic al powders, bleach, chlorine based bleach cleaners, coarse abr asives or salt.

F or more diffi cult cleaning, follow the appr opriate instruction. Check cleaner manufac turers guidelines for compatibility with the material of your range .
25 Using y our Range C ontrol P anel The control panel and c ontrol knobs should only be cleaned with a soft cloth wrung out in clean hot soapy water - but take care that no surplus water seeps into the appliance . Wipe with a clean dampened cloth then polish with a dr y cloth.
26 Using y our Range T roubleshooting A crack has appeared in the C ooktop sur face Disconnect the range immediately fr om the pow er supply and arrange for its repair . Don ’t use the range until after the repair . See the "Ser vice and spares" section for imformation about service.
27 Using y our Range A dish of water when placed on the rack should be the same depth all over . (For example , if it is deeper at the back, then the back of the range should be raised up or the front low ered). If the range is not level arrange f or your supplier to level it f or you.
