6 ASSEMBL Y STEP 1 Attach the T -Rail to the Motor Unit To av oid installation difficulties, do not run the garage door opener until instructed to do so. •R emov e the two washered bolts mounted in top of motor unit. • Align T -rail and styrof oam over sproc ket.
7 ASSEMBL Y STEP 3 Attach the Belt Cap Retainer •P osition the belt cap retainer ov er the motor unit sprock et so the two holes in cap align with the two holes in mounting plate. Attach with #8x3/8" hex screws pro vided. Y ou have no w finished assembling y our garage door opener .
8 INST ALLA TION STEP 1 Determine the Header Bracket Location Installation procedures va r y according to garage door types. Follo w the instructions which apply to your door . 10 INST ALLA TION STEP 2 Install the Header Bracket Y ou can attach the header brack et either to the wall abov e the garage door , or to the ceiling. F ollow the instructions which will work best for y our par ticular requirements. Do not install the header brac ket o ver drywall.

12 ONE-PIECE DOOR WITHOUT TRA CK •W ith the door fully open and parallel to the floor , measure the distance from the floor to the top of the door . • Using a stepladder as a suppor t, raise the top of the opener to this height. • The top of the door should be le vel with the top of the motor unit.
13 INST ALLA TION STEP 5 Hang the Opener Tw o representative installations are sho wn. Y ours ma y be different. Hanging brack ets should be angled (Figure 1) to provide rigid suppor t. On finished ceilings (Figure 2), attach a sturdy metal brac ket to structural suppor ts before installing the opener .

15 INST ALLA TION STEP 7 Install the Lights • Press the release tabs on both sides of lens. Gently rotate lens back and do wnward until the lens hinge is in the fully open position. Do not remov e the lens. • Install up to a 100 watt maximum light b ulb in each sock et.
16 INST ALLA TION STEP 9 Electrical Requirements To av oid installation difficulties, do not run the opener at this time. To reduce the r isk of electr ic shock, y our garage door opener has a grounding type plug with a third g rounding pin. This plug will only fit into a grounding type outlet.

19 Carriage bolt 1/4"-20x1/2" Lens Wing nut Figure 4 MOUNTING AND WIRING THE SAFETY SENSORS • Slide a 1/4"-20x1/2" carriage bolt head into the slot on each sensor . Use wing nuts to fasten sensors to brac kets , with lenses pointing toward each other across the door .
20 INST ALLA TION STEP 11 Fasten the Door Bracket F ollow instructions which apply to your door type as illustrated below or on the f ollowing page. A horizontal reinfor cement brace should be long enough to be secured to two or three vertical supports.

22 INST ALLA TION STEP 12 Connect Door Arm to T rolley F ollow instructions which apply to your door type as illustrated below and on the f ollowing page. SECTIONAL DOORS ONL Y •M ake sure gar age door is fully closed. Pull the emergency release handle to disconnect the outer trolley from the inner trolle y .
23 ALL ONE-PIECE DOORS 1. Assemble the door arm, Figure 4: • F asten the straight and cur ved door arm sections together to the longest possible length (with a 2 or 3 hole ov er lap). • With the door closed, connect the straight door arm section to the door bracket with the 5/16"x1-1/4" cle vis pin.
24 ADJUSTMENT STEP 1 Adjust the UP and DOWN T ravel Limits Limit adjustment settings regulate the points at which the door will stop when moving up or do wn. To operate the opener , press the Door Control push bar . Run the opener through a complete trav el cycle.
ADJUSTMENT STEP 2 Adjust the Force F orce adjustment controls are located on the right panel of the motor unit. Force adjustment settings regulate the amount of power required to open and close the door . If the f orces are set too light, door trav el may be interrupted by nuisance re versals in the down direction and stops in the up direction.
Without a properly installed safety reversal system, persons (particularly small children) could be SERIOUSL Y INJURED or KILLED by a closing garage door . • Safety reversal system MUST be tested every month. • If one control (for ce or travel limits) is adjusted, the other control may also need adjustment.
OPERA TION 27 IMPOR T ANT SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS 1. READ AND FOLLOW ALL WARNINGS AND INSTRUCTIONS. 2. AL WA YS keep remote controls out of reach of children. NEVER permit children to operate or play with garage door control push buttons or remote controls.
Additional feature when used with the 3-function hand-held remote To control the opener lights: In addition to operating the door , you ma y program the remote to operate the lights. 1. With the door closed, press and hold a small remote button that y ou want to control the light.
CARE OF YOUR OPENER LIMIT AND FORCE ADJUSTMENTS: W eather conditions may cause some minor changes in door operation requiring some re- adjustments, par ticularly dur ing the first year of oper ation. P ages 24 and 25 refer to the limit and f orce adjustments.
