4 Intr oduction This document describes the CASIO LCD digital camera image loading softw are, Photo Loader (hereafter called Photo Loader in this document). Photo Loader is a software application that runs on Macintosh. This document does not describe how to use Macintosh.
5 Impor tant! • Recording images that can be loaded using Photo Loader are images sa v ed in JPEG format and animation files sav ed in A VI f or mat. Handling high-v olume image data as a library Loaded image files will be managed in a f older by date , which is handled as a library .
6 ■ How to read this instruction manual Operation conventions The description assumes that a mouse is used. In this document, the buttons in dialog boxes are described as follows.
7 Star ting Photo Loader Photo Loader must be installed on y our Macintosh bef ore star ting. If not yet installed, install Photo Loader on y our Macintosh. 1. Switch on y our Macintosh. 2. Open the destination f older and double-c lic k “Photo Loader 1.
8 ■ Chec king comm unication status between digital camera and Photo Loader (f or Serial connection) Impor tant! • A ser ial connection ma y not be possible depending on the digital camera model. For details , ref er to the digital camera's user's guide.
9 3. Clic k the [Setting] b utton. Clic k the [Cancel] button to cancel the operation. • Check that the serial por t on the Macintosh to which the cab le is connected is the same as the serial por t (modem por t or printer por t) displa yed in the configuration dialog bo x.
10 Using Photo Loader This section describes how to use Photo Loader . ■ Loading an image This sub-section describes how to load image data onto your Macintosh using Photo Loader . Y ou can choose from “Loading images automatically” and “Loading images manually”.
11 Note • It is recommended that the peripheral de vices listed abov e be used to automatically load images recorded with digital cameras . T o load images not from a digital camera, see “ Loading images other than those recorded by digital camer as ” on page 22.
12 2. Clic k the <Load images in camera> tab. 3. Select “Automatic loading ON” fr om “Set up automatic loading”. • “ A utomatic loading ON ” is specified as the default. • Select “ A utomatic loading OFF ” to disab le automatic loading.
13 4. Restart Photo Loader (Restar ting is not necessar y unless the settings have been c hanged.). This completes the automatic loading settings . Images will be automatically loaded, when y ou connect the digital camera to the USB por t of your Macintosh, or when y ou mount the memor y card used to record pictures with the digital camera.
14 When the screen abov e is displa yed, highlight “ P ausing loading ” and click with the mouse . “ P ausing loading ” will be unchec ked. If the icon with the camera only ( ) is displa yed, the monitoring progr am is not r unning.
15 7. Select the f older containing the image data to be loaded and clic k the [Add] b utton. T o reselect an image to be loaded, select the folder from the f older list and clic k [Delete]. Then reselect the image to be loaded. F older names to be loaded will be displa y ed in the folder list.
16 • If the f ollowing message appears when loading with “ Sor t by recording date ” , see “ Handling image loading errors ” on page 25. 9. Enter a library name for the loaded ima g es. • Only v alid when loading with “ Sor t by date ” selected.
17 10. Clic k the [OK] b utton. This completes image loading. The W eb browser is launched and the libraries created are displa y ed in calendar f or mat. • See “ Vie wing a librar y ” on page 27 f or details of viewing a libr ar y . • Change the setting if y ou do not want to displa y a librar y after loading images.
18 Manuall y loading images (f or Card/USB connection) Image data recorded using a digital camera will be loaded into Photo Loader . When serial connection is selected, read “ Man ually loading images (for Serial connection) ” on page 19. 1. Clic k the [Load image] b utton from the function b uttons.
19 3. Clic k the [Load image in camera...] b utton. 4. Subsequent operations are the same as those f or operation 7 on page 15. Note If the digital camera (or memory card) has only one image folder , subsequent operations are the same as those f or operation 9 on page 16.
20 2. Select the “ Load image in camera ” option based on the connection between the digital camera (or memory card) and y our Macintosh. • Select “ Ser ial connection ” . 3. Clic k the [Load image in camera...] b utton. 4. Select either “ Batch ” or “ Specified f older ” from “ T ransfer unit ” .
21 6. Clic k the [OK] b utton. • Images will be loaded from the digital camera connected. • Clic k the [Cancel] button to cancel image loading. • When “ Sor t by date ” is selected, the loading date confir mation dialog bo x will be display ed.
22 Loading images other than those recor ded by digital cameras Loads image data other than that tak en with a digital camera into Photo Loader . Image data sa v ed in JPEG f or mat or video data sav ed in A VI f or mat can be loaded from the hard disk of y our Macintosh or peripheral de vices connected via a network.
23 3. Select the f older containing the image data to be loaded into Photo Loader and c lick the [Ad d] b utton. T o reselect an image to be loaded, select the image data from the f older list and click the [Delete] b utton. Then, reselect an image to be loaded.
24 5. Clic k the [Load] b utton. • Images will be loaded from the f older selected. • Click the [Cancel] b utton to cancel image loading. • When “ Sor t b y date ” is selected, the loading date confir mation dialog bo x will be display ed. Specify a date with the pull-down button and clic k [OK].
25 Important! ● About movie images recorded using a digital camera Movie recording QuickT ime 4.0 or later is required to play back movie images (A VI files) recorded in Movie recording mode with a CASIO LCD digital camera.
26 1 Select “ Sor t b y date inf ormation of a file ” . • Sor t images on the file date inf or mation (update date) and create a librar y . • T o load images by specifying a date instead of using the file date inf or mation, proceed to step 3.
27 ■ V iewing a library Photo Loader handles the folder saving image files as “Library”. This section describes how to list images in a library on the Macintosh screen. * A browser is required to display a library . * The browser software to be used by Photo Loader must be specified after installing the browser software.

29 ■ Deleting a library This sub-section describes how to delete a Photo Loader library . 1. Clic k the [Delete] b utton from the function b uttons..
30 2. Select the library to be deleted. • Clicking the [Select all] b utton selects all the libraries. • Checking “ Displa y pre view images ” displa ys the images in the librar y selected. 3. Clic k the [Delete ...] b utton. The librar y selected is deleted.
31 ■ Cop ying a librar y This sub-section describes how to cop y a Photo Loader librar y . Y ou can cop y the librar y ref erenced b y “ F older to sa v e a librar y ” to another f older . The copied libr ar y will be hidden from Photo Loader . 1 .
32 The capacity of the library selected is displayed. 3. Clic k the [Cop y ...] button. 4. Specify the target f older . 5. Clic k the [OK] b utton. • The librar y selected is copied to the specified f older . • Click the [Cancel] b utton to cancel cop ying.
33 ■ Mo ving a librar y This sub-section describes how to mov e a Photo Loader librar y . “ Librar y sa ving f older ” allows the libr ar y to be mov ed from the active driv e to a diff erent dr iv e. The librar y mov ed will not be visible in Photo Loader .

35 ■ Editing a library This sub-section describes how to modify a Photo Loader librar y . The f ollowing tw o operations are suppor ted. ● Changing the title of a library ● Reb uilding a library Changing the title of a library 1. Clic k the [Edit] b utton from the function b uttons.
36 Images within the library selected are displayed. 2 . Select the library to change the title . • Titles cannot be changed if multiple libraries are selected. • Checking “ Displa y pre view images ” displa ys the images in the librar y selected.
37 Reb uilding a librar y Reb uild a library in the follo wing cases. ● T o reflect templates selected f or each librar y by selecting [Pref erences] → <General> → “ Select b uilt-in template ” . ● When a browser is used to vie w a librar y , b ut an error is display ed and no image appears.
38 2. Select the library to be rebuilt. • Clicking the [Select all] b utton selects all the libraries. • Checking “ Displa y pre view images ” displa ys the images in the librar y selected. 3. Clic k the [Reb uild...] button. 4. Clic k the [OK] b utton.
39 Changing Photo Loader pref erences This sub-section describes the various Photo Loader pref erences. Photo Loader pref erences are broadly divided into f ollowing three types. ● General ● Loading images in a camera ● V er sion ■ General 1. Clic k the [Preferences] b utton from the function b uttons.
40 Folder to sa ve library Specify a f older to load images. Clic k the [Browse ...] button to change the do wnload destination. If it is changed, all libr ar ies previously loaded will be mov ed to the ne w destination. Enter title after loading Y ou can choose to enter a librar y title after loading images.
41 ■ Loading ima g es in camera 1. Clic k the [Preferences] b utton from the function b uttons. 2. Clic k the <Load images in camera> tab. 3. Set the pref erences as required. <Load images in camera> includes the f ollo wing pref erences.
42 Convert image aspect based on rotation information Sets whether or not to convert the image aspect when loading images. If “Convert aspect” is selected, a portrait image will be loaded as portrait image based on the rotation information, where applicable.
