E-4 General Guide I Normally when you pres s a button, it will change the setting or perform the operation marked above the button. Note that there also are secondary parameters (settings ) marked below some buttons that you can select using the TEMPO/SETTING button.
E-5 P o wer Suppl y Your digital piano runs on standard household power. Be sure to turn off power whe never you are not using the digital piano. 1. Make sure that the POWER button is in the OFF position (raised). 2. Connect the power cord that comes with the digital piano to the AC powe r jack on the bottom of the digital piano.
E-6 Connections IMPORT ANT! • Whenever connecting something to the digital piano, fi rst use the VOLUME controller to set the volume to a low level. After connecting, you can adjust the volume to the level you want. Bottom Connect commercially available head phones to the PHONES jack.
Connections E-7 Connecting to Audio Equipment 2 Use commercially availa ble cables to connect the external audio equipment to the piano’s LINE OUT jacks as shown in Fi gure 2 . LINE OUT R jack output is right channel sound, while LINE OUT L/MONO jack output is left channel sound.
E-8 Selecting and Pla ying a T one Your digital piano has the following types of tones built in. 1. Press the POWER button. IMPORT ANT! • When you turn on the digita l piano, it performs a power up operation in order to prepare its system.
Selecting and Playing a Tone E-9 You can use the following procedure to assign one of the 20 Various tones, 128 GM tones, or 2 Drum sets to the VARIOUS/GM TO NES button. After that you can select the assigned tone by pressi ng the VARIOUS / GM TONES button.
E-10 Selecting and Playing a Tone Use the following procedure to layer two tones, so they sound at the same time. The tone you specify first is called the “main tone”, while the tone you specify second is called the “layered tone”.

While holding down the SPLIT button, press the keyboard key where you want the left limit of the high range (right) tone to be. NO TE • The split point also is the boundary between the accompaniment keyboard range (pages E-15 to E-17) and the melody keyboard range.

Selecting and Playing a Tone E-13 To adjust the metronome volume NO TE • You can perform the follow in g procedure at any time , regardless of whether or n ot the metronome is sounding. 1. Press the TEMPO/SETTING button. • This wil l cause the lamp above the button to flash.
E-14 Pla ying a Rh ythm You can select from among 20 built-in rhythms. 1. Press the RHYTHM button so the lamp below it is lit. • Each press of the button toggles between the upper lamp and lower lamp. • This wi ll cause the currently selected rhythm number to appear on the display.
Playing a Rhythm E-15 NO TE • With the rhythms listed below, make sure that CASIO CHORD, FINGERED , or FULL RANGE CHORD is selected before you try play ing chords. The volume of percussion instruments is ve ry low, and percuss ion is inserted in a way that does not interfere with the overall mood of the rhythm.
E-16 Playing a Rhythm How to Play Chords The way you finger chord s depends on the current Auto Accompaniment mode. If you want to play without Auto Accompaniment, use the N ORMAL mode.
Playing a Rhythm E-17 FINGERED In the FINGERED mode, you play standard chord fingerings in the accompaniment keyboard range to play chords. To finger a C chord, for example, you would press the C-E -G keys.
E-18 Pla ying Bac k Built-in Songs IMPORT ANT! • After you select a bui lt-in s ong, it can take a number of seconds for the song data to be loaded. While the data is being loaded, the song number will flash on the displa y, and the keyboard keys and button operation s will be disabled.
Playing Back Built-in Songs E-19 The Music Library incl udes bo th built-in songs (01 to 60), plus u p to 10 song s (61 to 70) th at have been sa ved to digital piano memory from a computer * or SD memory card (page E-33). You can use the procedure below to select one of these songs and p lay it back.
E-20 Playing Back Built-in Songs 1. While playback is in progress, hold down the FF button. • This skips forward through the so ng measure-by- measure. • The m easure number appears on the display while you are skipping forward. 2. When you reach the point you want, release the FF button to resume playback.
E-21 Recor d ing and Pla y Bac k You can store the notes you play in digital piano memory for later playback. You can have up to five songs in memory at one time. A track is a container of re corded data, and each song consists of two tracks: Track 1 and Track 2.
E-22 Recording and Play Back After recording to either of the tracks of a song, you ca n record to the other track while listening to playback what you recorded in the first track. To record to a specifi c track of a specific song 1. Press the RECORDER button so the PLAY lamp is lit.
Recording and Play Back E-23 To record to one track of a song while listening to the pl ayback of the other track 1. Press the RECORDER button so the PLAY lamp is lit. 2. Use the /NO and /YES buttons to display a song number (1 to 5). 3. Press the RECORDER button so the REC lamp is flashing.
E-24 Recording and Play Back The following procedur e deletes a specific track of a song. IMPORT ANT! • The procedure bel ow deletes all of the data of the selected song. Note that the delete operation canno t be undone. Check to ma ke sure you really do not need the data in digital pi ano memory before you pe rform the following steps.

Connecting to a Computer E-31 2. Use a commercially avai lable USB cable (A-B type) to connect the digital piano t o the computer. IMPORT ANT! • Make sure that the digital piano is turned off before connecting or disconnecting the USB cable to it.
E-32 Connecting to a Co mputer z MIDI Mode The above indicator appears for about three seconds after a USB connection termin ated. The MIDI mode is used when sending and r eceiving data over the digital piano’s MIDI terminals.
E-33 Using an SD Memor y Car d Your digital piano’s SD memory card slot makes it possible for you to store song data on a commercially available SD memory card. The digital piano also can read SMF song data and CASIO format song data from an SD memory card.
E-34 Using an SD Memory Card • Never insert an ything besides an SD memory card into the SD memory card slot. Do ing so creates the risk of malfunction. • Inserting an SD memory card tha t carries an electrostatic charge into the SD memory card slot can ca use malfunction of the digital piano.

Use the /NO and /YES buttons to display the number of the user area song (Music Library song number 61 through 7 0) to which you want to tra nsfer the song data.

E-40 Assembling the Stand PREP ARA TION • Before star ting assembly, chec k to make sure that you have all the parts shown belo w. You can find the screws in a plastic bag inside of the polystyrene foam packing material. • This stand does not include any of the tools required for assembly.

First secure the sides of the back panel with the two I screws on the left and right. • At location 4 , slip the G clip onto t o the I screw before installing the screw. • With back panel C resting on top of the feet 5 of side panels A and B , press the back panel against crosspiece D as you install the I screws.
E-42 Assembling the Stand 1. Orienting the pedal plug as shown in the illustration, plug it into the pedal co nnector on the bottom of the piano. • Secure the pedal cord with t he clip. 2. Check to make sure that the POWER button is in the OFF position (raised).

CAUTION • Take care to make sure that the support bar engages securely into one of the two grooves. If you raise the music stand too hastily, the su pport bar may not engage correctly and make the music stand unstead y.
