10 • Before using the product, please ensure that you read the safety precautions described below. Always ensure that the product is used correctly. • The safety precautions noted on the following pages are intended to prevent injuries to yourself and other persons, or damage to the equipment.
Safety Precautions 11 • Use only the recommended battery. • Do not place the battery near or in direct flame. • Unplug the power cord periodically, and using a dry cloth, wipe away any dust and dirt that has collected on the plug, the exterior of the power outlet, and the surrounding area.
Safety Precautions 12 • Viewing images on the camera screen for prolonged periods may cause discomfort. • Take care not to pinch your finger when the flash lowers. This could result in injury. Caution Denotes the possibility of damage to the equipment.
Safety Precautions 13 • When putting the camera in your bag, ensure that hard objects do not come into contact with the screen. • Do not attach any hard objects to the camera.
14 Prepare for shooting as fol lows. Thread the end of the strap thro ugh the str ap hole ( ), and then pul l the other e nd of the strap thro ugh the loop on t he threaded e nd () . Place the st rap around you r wrist. When shooti ng, keep your arms close to y our body and hold the camera secur ely to prevent it fr om moving.
Initial Preparations 15 Charge the battery. For CB-2LY: Fl ip out the plug ( ) and plug the charger int o a power outlet ( ). For CB-2LYE: Plug the power cord into the charger, th en plug the othe r end into a pow er outlet. The charging lamp turns ora nge and charging be gins.
Initial Preparations 16 Open the cover. Slide the co ver ( ) and open it ( ). Insert the battery. While pressin g the battery lock in the directio n of the arrow, insert the ba ttery facing as sho wn and push it in until it cl icks into the loc ked positi on.
Initial Preparations 17 Remove the battery. Open the cov er and press the batter y lock in the direct ion of the arrow. The battery wi ll pop up. Remove the memory ca rd. Push the memory card in until i t clicks, and then slow ly release it .
Initial Preparations 18 Set the local time zone. Press the qr button s or turn th e 5 dial to choose yo ur local time zone. Finish the setu p process. Press the m button when finished . After a confirmation message, th e setting screen is no longer displayed.
Initial Preparations 19 Choose [Date/Time]. Move the zo om lever to c hoose the 3 tab. Press the op buttons or turn the 5 dial to choose [Date/Time ], and then p ress the m button. Change the date and time. Follow step 2 on p. 17 to ad just the setting s.
Initial Preparations 20 The display language can be changed as neede d. Enter Playback mode. Press the 1 button. Access the setting screen. Press and hol d the m button, and then immediately pr ess the n button. Set the disp lay languag e. Press the op qr buttons or turn the 5 dial to choose a l anguage, and then press the m button.

Trying the Camera Out 22 Shoot. Shooting Still Images Focus. Press the shutter but ton lightly, halfway down. The camer a beeps twice af ter focusing, a nd AF frame s are disp layed to indicate im age areas in focu s. The flash au tomatically r ises in low-li ght conditions .

40 Shooting Mode Press the ON/OFF butto n to turn the camera on and prepar e for shootin g. To turn the came ra off, press the ON/OFF button agai n. Playback Mode Press the 1 button to turn the c amera on and view y our shot s. To turn the c amera off, pres s the 1 button again.

Using Face ID 74 Choose [Add to Registry], and then choos e [Add a New Face]. Register face information. Aim the camera s o that the face of the person you want to reg ister is in side the gray fra me at the cent er of the screen. A white fra me on the perso n’s face indi cates that the f ace is reco gnized.
Using Face ID 75 The [Edit Pro file] scre en is displayed . Enter a name. Press the m button. Press the op qr buttons or turn the 5 dial to choose a character, and then pr ess the m button to e nter it. Up to 10 charact ers can be use d.
Using Face ID 76 Continue registering face information. To register u p to 4 more points of fa ce informati on (expressi ons or angles), repeat steps 2 – 3. Registere d faces are more easily reco gnized if you add a variety of face informati on.

You shou ld update fac e information regularly, especially wi th babies and children, as t heir faces chan ge quick ly as the y grow. You can also ad d face informa tion when all 5 face info sl ots have not be en filled.
Using Face ID 80 Register face information. Follow step s 2 – 3 on p. 74 to shoo t, and then register th e new face information. Registere d faces are more easily reco gnized if you add a variety of face informati on. In addition to a head-o n angle, ad d a slight si de angle, a sho t when smiling, and shots ins ide and outsid e.
Using Face ID 81 Choose the face info to erase. Press the m but ton, press th e opqr buttons or turn the 5 dial to c hoose the face info you wa nt to eras e, and then press the m button. Specific Scenes 103 The camera will sho ot about two seco nds after detec ting that the face of another per son (such as th e photographe r) has entere d the shootin g area (p. 133). Th is is useful when including yo urself in gr oup photos or si milar shots.
Specific Scenes 104 Join the subjects in the shooting area and look at the camera. After the came ra detects a new face, t he lamp blinki ng and self-ti mer sound wil l speed up. (When the flash fires , the lamp will re main lit.) About two seco nds later, the camera will shoot.
Specific Scenes 105 Each set of images sho t continu ously is mana ged as a s ingle group , and only the first imag e in that gro up will be display ed.
