Please be sure to follow the guidelines and meet the requirements when loading print media in the multi-purpose tray .
3-2 Pr int media handling Chapter 3 Bubble Jet Paper L C-301 Dev eloped f or high quality printing with minimal or no smearing when in contac t with water or damp sur faces. This specially coated paper produces bright and vivid colors and stands up to normal office highlighters.
Chapter 3 Print media handling 3-3 3 Pr int media handling Matte Photo P aper MP-101 A matte , thick paper that produces vivid color output and is waterpr oof. Ideal for many uses such as paper crafts, calendars, and photographs with a matte finish.
3-4 Pr int media handling Chapter 3 High Gloss Photo F ilm HG-201 A bright white finish film that lends striking visual power to charts, graphs, and photographic images. It creates a sharper and more vivid color output than is possible with coated paper .
Chapter 3 Print media handling 3-5 3 Pr int media handling •L oad the paper with the side that does not have green lines facing up . •U se mirror printing to print or copy the image onto the T-shir t transfer . •I f the T-shir t transfer is curled , flatten it by curling it in the opposite direction.
3-6 Pr int media handling Chapter 3 S etting the paper thickness lev er T he paper thickness lever adjusts the gap between the printhead and the print media to suit the print media ’ s thick ness. Before printing , be sure to set the paper thick ness lever .

If the edges of the env elope are inflated or are curling up , place the env elope on a desk and with a pen press down on it mo ving from the ce nt er toward the edges of the en velope.

Chapter 6 Copying 6-3 6 Cop ying Reducing or enlarging a c opy Y ou can reduce or enlarge copies in three different ways: using preset copy ratios, using custom co py ratios, or automatically reducing or enlarging an image to fit on the print media size selected.
6-4 Co pying Chapter 6 Co p ying an image to fit the page If the document to be copied is on paper larger or smaller than the specified print media size ( p. 3-7), you can automatically reduce or enlarge the image to fit the selected print media size.

Chapter 6 Copying 6-9 6 Cop ying Creating a mirr or image T his feature allo ws you to make a mirror co py of a document. Use this feature when copying onto T-shirt transfers so that the image appears the right way when ironed onto fabric. F ollow this procedure to make a mirror copy: 1 L oad the document on the platen glass .
6-10 Co pying Chapter 6 Shrinking an image to fit the page If the image to be copied is larger than the output print media, this feature will automatically r educe the image to fit the print media size on which it will be c opied. 8-2 Photo printing from a memory card Chapter 8 Inser ting/remo ving a memor y card Inser ting a memory card To use a memor y card , you will need to inser t it into a PC card adapter bef ore inser ting it in the card slot. Do not attempt to insert it into the card slot without a PC card adapter .

Pr inting methods T here are diff erent methods for printing photographs from a memory card.
8-4 Photo printing from a memory card Chapter 8 Pr inting an index T his printing method prints thumbnails of the photographs in a memory card. An index is useful to see small versions of all photographs in a memory card without having to print each photograph individually .

Chapter 8 Photo printing from a memory card 8-7 8 P hoto printing from a memory card Pr inting a single frame T his printing method prints a specified single photograph from a memory card. In order to select the photograph you want to print, you will need to print the index and note the number assigned to the photograph.

In order to select the photographs you want to print, you will need to print the index and note the numbers assigned to them.

Chapter 8 Photo printing from a memory card 8-13 8 P hoto printing from a memory card S etting vivid photo printing Enabling this setting will make photographs appear more vibrant, especially blues and greens. I t is also effective for photographs that w ere not taken with the correct exposure.
8-14 Photo printing from a memory card Chapter 8 S etting date printing Enabling this setting will print the date, recorded by the digital camera, below each thumbnail on an index A or on the bottom right of the photograph B . Enable or disable this setting before printing phot ographs from a memor y card.
Chapter 9 Maintenance 9-1 9 M aintenance Maintenanc e Chapter 9 Replacing ink tanks Lo w ink warning When you first installed the ink tanks, you will have reset the ink c ounter function that k eeps track of how much ink is left in the ink tanks.
9-2 M aintenance Chapter 9 •R eplace ink tanks quickly . Once installed , do not remove from the machine and leav e out in the open. Doing so may cause the ink tank not to function when reinstalled in the machine. Replacing an ink tank T his section describes how to replace an ink tank.

9-4 M aintenance Chapter 9 Resetting the ink counter T he ink counter keeps track of how much ink is left in the ink tanks allowing the machine to warn you when ink is running low . I t also allows you to check the current ink level of the ink tanks at any time.

If y ou hav e printed the nozzle check pattern ( p. 9-6) and determined that the printhead needs aligning, align it from the operation panel or from the MultiP ASS Suite software.

10-4 Tr oubleshooting Chapter 10 Pr inting stops in the middle. 1. Has the machine been printing continuously o ver a long period? If so, the printhead will overheat. T o protect the printhead , printing will stop temporarily and resume after a period of time.
Chapter 10 T roubleshooting 10-5 10 Tr oubleshooting Pr intout is rubbed or stained . 1. Is the paper thickness lever set corr ec tly? When you print documents that contain large quantities of ink such as documents with a lot of detail, the paper may curl and rub.
10-6 Tr oubleshooting Chapter 10 3. Is the image quality displayed in the L CD suitable for the document? If not, set an image quality suitable for the document ( p. 6-2). Pr oblems scanning to a computer S ee below if you ha ve problems scanning a document to y our computer from the machine.

While the Alarm light blinks, the machine is initializing and you will not be able to use it.
