4 Safety Precautions O Before using the product, please ensure that you read the safety precautions described below . Always ensure that the product is used correctly . O The safety precautions noted on the following pages are intended to prevent injuries to yourself and other persons, or damage to the equipment.
5 Caution Denotes the possibility of damage to the equipment. O Unplug the product from the power outlet when you are not using it. O Do not place anything, such as cloth, on top of the printer while in use. Leaving the unit plugged in for a long period of time may cause it to overheat and become distorted, resulting in re.

8 Preparing the Paper Cassette Check the paper size. O Check that the prepared ink cassette and the size shown on the paper cassette (POSTCARD (4x6in), CARD SIZE, etc.) match. Open the lid. O There are two layers of lids. Open the outer lid rst, then open the inner lid .
9 O Use only dedicated paper included in the genuine Canon brand Color Ink Cassette/Paper Sets for use in SELPHY CP series printers. Regular printing paper , regular postcards, or dedicated paper for SELPHY ES series printers cannot be used. O Never do the following.
10 Inser ting the Ink and Paper Cassettes Open the covers. O Open the covers for the ink cassette and paper cassette compartments. Insert the ink cassette. O Insert the ink cassette into the printer in the direction indicated by the arrow on the cassette until it clicks and locks into place.
11 Setting the Display Language Y ou can change the language displayed in the LCD monitor menus and messages. The default setting is English. T urn on SELPHY . O Press and hold the q button until the screen shown on the left is displayed. O T o turn the power off, press and hold the q button and release when the screen display changes.

13 Selecting and Printing Images Y ou can select an image and specify the number of copies for printing. In this section, an SD memory card will be used as an example, but you can print from other memory cards using the same steps. T urn on SELPHY . O Press and hold the q button until the screen shown on the left is displayed.
14 Print. O Press the p button to start printing. O During printing, the paper will pass in and out from the back of SELPHY several times. Do not touch the paper until printing has nished and the printed sheets collect on the print output tray (on the outer lid of the paper cassette).
15 Printing F rom USB F lash Memor y Just like images on memory cards, images on commercially available USB ash memory can also be printed. Insert a USB ash memory . O Insert a USB ash memory as shown. O All further steps are the same as those used for printing images from memory cards (pp.
16 Printing All Images Y ou can print all images on a memory card at once. Display the menu. O Press the k button. Display the settings screen. O Press the ud buttons to select [Print All Images], then press the o button. Number of sheets required Number of images on card Number of copies Select the number of copies.
17 Storing the Printed Photos O When both edges of a print have perforations, you can remove the edges by bending them. O Use an oil-based pen to write on prints. O T o prevent discoloration, do not store prints in places subject to temperatures of over 40 °C (104 °F), humid or dusty places, or in direct sunlight.
18 Cropping and Printing Ima ges Y ou can crop and print part of an image. Display the cropping screen. O Select an image as described in Step 4 on p. 13 , press the EDIT button, and then press the o button. X A cropping frame to indicate the range will be displayed.
19 Printing ID Photos Y ou can print your image as an ID photo. Y ou can select the size from [Multi-size], [Standard]*, and [Custom]. Also, you can select up to 2 types of images to be printed on 1 sheet. * The Standard size conforms to the ICAO international standards.
20 Printing a V ariety of Ima ges Y ou can use various printing features, such as imprinting the shooting date or adjusting the color of an image. Y ou do not need to make settings for each image because once the settings are made, they are applied for all images.
21 Printing W ith the Date (Da te) 08/08/2012 O Y ou can print the shooting date recorded by the digital camera. O Off (Default setting) / On O Specify [ Off] for images that already have the date imprinted by the camera to prevent two dates being printed in the image.
22 Selecting a Layout and Printing (P age Layout) O Y ou can set the number of images that you want to print on one sheet. The number of images that you specied (p. 13) will be printed in the selected layout. O Specify [ 8-up] when using Color Ink Cassette/ Label Set KC-18IL (8-label sheet) (p.
23 Making Skin Look Smooth in Prints (Smooth Skin) O Makes skin look smooth and beautiful in prints. O Off (Default setting) / On O Correction may be applied to areas other than skin, producing unexpected results. O This setting is reset to [ Off] when printing nishes, SELPHY is turned of f, or the memory card is removed.
24 Changing the Date Style (Da te F or mat) 08/08/2012 2012/08/08 O Y ou can change the order of the printed date (p. 21) . O mm/dd/yyyy (Default Setting), dd/mm/yyyy , yyyy/ mm/dd O The setting will be retained even if SELPHY is turned off or the memory card is removed from the slot.
25 Printing via W ir eless LAN This chapter describes how to print images stored in wireless LAN compatible smartphones and computers via wireless LANs. This printer is Wi-Fi ® * 1 certied. Y ou can print images stored in Wi-Fi ready smartphones* 2 , tablets* 2 , and computers via wireless LANs.
26 Before Using W ireless LAN O This product is embedded with a wireless device. The model numbers are CD1 100 and CD1 107 (including WLAN module model WM317). O Countries and Regions Permitting WLAN Use - Use of WLAN is restricted in some countries and regions, and illegal use may be punishable under national or local regulations.

28 Selecting Communication Mode The setting procedure of SELPHY varies depending on the communication mode. Select the communication mode according to the device you are using. Y ou can change the communication mode later (p. 41) . Ad Hoc Mode (p. 29) Y ou can connect SELPHY to a wireless LAN and print images without an access point.
29 Printing in Ad Hoc Mode Y ou can send images from a smartphone to SELPHY for printing. Y ou need to install the designated application (free) on your smartphone. Some smartphones may not be able to connect in ad hoc mode. In such a case, use infrastructure mode (p.
30 Select the wireless LAN mode. O Press the ud buttons to select [Ad Hoc], and then press the o button. Connect the smartphone to the network displayed on the printer screen. O Check that the screen on the left is displayed on the printer . O Select the SSID (network name) displayed on the printer from the Wi-Fi setting menu on the smartphone.

39 Printing Images with the Software Y ou can print images saved on the computer using the installed software (SELPHY Photo Print). The [Simple print] feature will be explained in this section. Using this feature, you can view all your images at once and select which ones you want to print.
