5 Printer LED Indicati ons : Blinking : ON : OFF * 1 The LED will blink in a pattern of ON for 2 seconds and th en OFF for 3 seconds. *2 The LED will blink fast. Control Panel 1 Toner LED indicates when the Toner is low or empty. 2D r u m LED indicates when the Dru m is nearing end of life.

7 Sett ing Up Your Print er Do NOT connect the interface cab le. Connecting the interface cable is done when installing the driver. 1 Insert the CD- ROM into your CD-ROM drive. The opening scree n will appear automatically. Follow the o n-screen i nstructi ons.

9 1 Pull the paper tray com pletely out of the printer. 2 While pressing the paper guide release lever, slide the adjusters to fit the paper size. Check that the guides are firmly in the slots. 3 Fan the stack of paper well to avoid paper jams and m isfeeds.
10 Sett ing Up Your Print er Do NOT connect the interface cable. Connecting the interface cable is done when installing the d river. 1 Make sure that the printer power switch is off. Connect th e AC power cord to the printe r. 2 Plug the AC power co rd into an AC ou tlet.

12 Ins talling th e Driver 1. Instal li ng the Dri ver and Conn ecting th e Printer to Yo ur P C 1 Make sure the USB interface cable is NOT connected to the printer, a nd then begin installing the driver. If you ha ve already connected the cable, remove it.
13 6 When this screen appears, m ake sure the printer power switch is on. Connect the USB interface cable to you r PC, and then conne ct it to the printer. Click the Next button. 7 Click the Finish button. For Windows ® 98 / Me users: The Setup is now complete.

21 8 Click the Add Printer. .. button. 9 Select USB . 0 Select HL-5000 series , and then click the Add button. A Select Quit Prin ter Center from the Printer Center menu.
22 ■ Oth er In form ation If for any reason you must ship your Pri nter, care fully package the Printer in the ori ginal packing to avoid any damage during transi t. It is strongly recommended that you save and use the original packaging. The Pri nter should also be adequately insured wi th the carrier.
