DANGER Temperature setting should not exceed safe te m perature at fixtures. See Approxim ate Time/Temperature Scald Chart in “Section V: Water Connections”. If highe r preheat tem p eratures are necessary to obtain adequa te booster output, add an anti-scald valve for hot water supplied to fixtu res.
3. If the water heater is installed as a direct ve nt (outside air piped directly to t he water heat er), then ad ditional o pening, ot her than the opening for the air intak e, are not required. However, adequate ventilation air must be prov ided in all cases to prevent increased room temperature.

NOTICE Position termination where vent vapors will not damage plants/shrubs or air conditioning equipment . Position termination where vent vapors will not be adversely affected by wind condition. Position termination where it will not be damaged or be subjected to foreign objects.
It is acceptable to install a 90 degree elbow on IPEX concentric vent terminations use with this power direct vent water heater (see Figure 23B). A short length of appropriate diameter vent pipe should be used to transition from the vent terminal to the 90 degree el bow.
INITIAL PREPARATION 1. Make sure the solvent cem ent you are planning to use is de signed for the speci fic applicat ion you are at tempting. 2. Know the physical and chem ical char acteristics and limitations of th e PVC, PVC cellular core, ABS or CPVC pip ing materials that you are about to use.
CAUTION The water heater an d individual sh utoff valve m ust be disconnected fr om the gas supply piping system during any pressure testing of the system at test pressures in e xcess of ½ psi (3.
SECTION VIII: ELEC TRICAL CONNECTIONS WARNING Turn off or disconnect the electr ical power supp ly to the water heater before servicing. Label all wires prior to disconnectio n when servic ing controls. Wiring er rors can cause i mproper and dangero us operatio n.
SECTION IX: OPER ATING INSTRUCTIONS WARNING Water heaters are heat-produ cing appli ances. To a void dam age or injury there must be no m aterials stored against the water heater or direct vent system , and proper care m ust be taken to avoi d unnecessary contact (especi ally by chi ldren) with the wate r heater and di rect vent sy stem.

Condensation do es not mean your tank is leaking. Most of reported tank leaks on installatio n are proven to be co ndensation. T o avoid unnecessary in convenience and e xpense, m ake sure the tank is l eaking before call ing an indepe ndent servicing contract or or qual ified service professional.
SECTION X: MAINTENANCE DANGER DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR GAS VALVE. DO NOT ATTEM PT TO REPAIR I GNITION MO DULE. DO NOT ATTEM PT TO REPAIR VE NTURI. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THERMOSTAT BOARD. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR TRANSFORMER. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR PRESSURE SWITCH.
DRAINING WATER HE ATER The water heater m ust be drained if it is to be shut down and exposed to freezing tem peratures. Maintenance and service proced ures may also require draining the water heater. 1. Turn off the water heate r electrical disconnect switch.
ANODE INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT This water heater is equipped with multiple sacrificial anod es. Anodes protect the gl ass-lin ed tank from corrosion by sacrific ing themselves through el ectrolysis. When the anode m aterial is consumed, th er e is no more protection and corrosion of the tank accelerates.
