ZyXEL AG-200 User’s Guide Getting Started 1-1 Chapter 1 Getting Started This chapter introduces the ZyXEL AG-200 a nd prepares you to use the ZyXEL Utility. 1.1 About Y our Zy XEL AG-200 The ZyXEL AG- 200 is an IEEE 8 02.11a, 8 02.11b, and 802.11g com pliant wireless LAN a d apter.

This information ca nnot be modified in t he Network scree n. The “Current Status” (lower) window shows the signal quality, sign al streng th, channel, etc.

ZyXEL AG-200 User’s Guide 1-10 Getting Started Basic Settings : In this page, y ou can verify the nam e of the current profil e. [Profile Name] Allows you to change the name of the current profile. [Network Mo de] Allows you to chan ge between Infrast ructure and Ad-Hoc net working modes.

Unless you ar e an advanced user and have deep knowledge ab ou t each property on this page, it is recommended that you leave them at the default settings.

The figure below shows the possible wireless security levels on your ZyXEL AG- 200.

ZyXEL AG-200 User’s Guide 2-10 WLAN Networking Open authentication mode is implemented for ease-of-use and when security is not an issue. The wireless station and the AP do not share a secret key. Thus the wi reless sta tions can associate with a ny AP and listen to any data transmitted plaintext.
