CONNECTING A TV 14 En Follo w the procedure below to connect your TV to the D VD player using the supplied video pin cable. Also, you can enjoy high-quality pictures with a S-video connection, a component video connection or a scart connection (U.K. and Europe models only) using a correspond ing commercially av ailable cable.
CONNECTING ANTENNAS 15 En English PREP ARA TION T o enjoy radio on the recei ver , connect the supplied AM and FM antennas to the designate d terminals. If there is a problem of weak radio wa ve reception in your area or you w ant to improv e radio reception, we recommend that you use optional outdoor antenna s.
CONNECTING EXTERNAL COMPONENTS 16 En Y ou can connect v arious audio components, such as an MD player, a tape deck or a Y AMAHA iPod uni versal dock to the receiv er . Also you can connect an MD recorder or a CD recorder to the D VD player using the DIGIT AL OUT jacks.
Connecting External Components 17 En English PREP ARA TION The receiv er (RX-E810) is equipped with the DOCK termin al on the rear panel that allo ws you to connect a Y AMAHA iPod uni versal dock (such as YDS-10 sold separately) where you can station your iPo d and control playback of your iPod using the supplied remote control.
CONNECTING THE POWER CABLES 18 En Once all connections are comp lete, con nect the power cable of the D VD play er to the A C OUTLET(S) terminal on the rear of the recei ve r (or the A C wall outlet if the A C OUTLET(S) terminal is not av ailable), and then plug the po wer cable of the recei ver into the A C wall outlet.
SETTING THE SYSTEM 19 En English PREP ARA TION Before starting playback operati on, follo w the procedure belo w to configure the system settings. 1 T urn on your TV and then press ST ANDBY/ ON to turn on the receiver . If the D VD player is connect ed to the receiv er with the system control cable, the DVD play er turns on automatically .
Setting the System 20 En 5 Press TIME ADJ once again to confirm the cloc k setting. “Adjusted” appears in the front panel display for a few seconds, and then the clock appears. y Y ou can switch between 12-hour (AM /PM) format and 24-hou r format by pressing HOUR or MIN while the clock is displayed in the front panel display .
Setting the System 21 En English PREP ARA TION If you set the default audio, subtitle, and disc menu languages, the D VD player auto matically switches to the selected languag e when a disc is loaded. If the selected language is not av ailable on the disc, the default language of the disc will be u sed inst ead.

Supported Disc Types 24 En Y ou can enjoy movie or music discs with the D VD player . Since some disc operations are limited to specif ic disc types, the supported disc types are indicated using the icons show n belo w . Each means t hat the opera tions is limited to the corresponding disc type.

Basic Disc Playback Operations 26 En Y ou can repeat the playback of the se lected item in a disc. Also, you can set two points to repeat the specif ied section of a chapter (track) with A-B Repeat. • Repeat Play may not work depending on D VD disc types.

Th is unit can memo rize playback order of 10 discs (20 chapters or 20 tracks for each disc). • The PBC menu (see page 31) is not a vailable during Program Play of a VCD or SVCD.

Restricting Disc Pl ayback 35 En English BA S I C OPERA TIONS Y ou can set playback restrictions for certain discs using the pa rental control or disc lock feature. Only users who know the password (see p age 36) can access the lock ed discs. Y ou ca n restrict playback according to a predetermined le vel (paren tal control le vel).

37 En English TUNER OPERA TIONS There are 2 tuning methods: automatic a nd manual. Automatic tuning is effecti v e when station signa ls are strong and there is no interference. If the signal from th e station you want to select is weak, t une into it manually .

43 En English O THER OPERA TIONS The receiv er is equipped with 2 types of timer functions: cloc k timer and sleep timer . The clock time r automaticall y turns the recei v er on or sets it to the standby mod e at the specif ied time. The sl eep timer sets the recei ver to the standb y mode after the specified time elapses.
44 En Setting the Timer The sleep timer se ts the receiv er to the standby mode after the specified time elapses. Press SLEEP repeatedly to select th e desired duratio n. Each time you press the ke y , the duration changes as follow s. The SLEEP indicator lights up in the front panel display .
