8 EZ-AG Names Of the Parts, Controls, and Connectors ■ Body q V ALUE [+]/[-] Buttons These buttons are used to select sounds and songs as well as adjust tempo, volume, balance, and other parameters. Press the [+] button once to increment the v alue by one, or press the [-] button once to decre- ment the v alue by one.
Names Of the Parts, Controls, and Connectors 9 EZ-AG r [TUNING] Button Allo ws overall tuning of the EZ-A G in semitone increments, as well as selection of one of the EZ- A G’ s alternati ve tunings: in addition to standard gui- tar tuning the EZ-A G provides drop-D, open-D, open-G, and open-E tunings.
10 EZ-AG Setting Up This section contains information about setting up y our EZ-A G f or playing. Make sure to read this section carefully bef ore using the instrument. Although the EZ-A G will run either from an optional A C adaptor or batteries, Y amaha recommends use of an A C adaptor whenev er possible.

12 EZ-AG Playing the EZ-AG When y ou ’ re set up and read y , turn on the power and play! 1 T urn on the power . W ith the A C po wer adaptor connected or with batteries installed, simply press the po wer switch until it locks in the ON position. When the instrument is not in use, be sure to turn the po wer off.
Playing the EZ-AG 13 EZ-AG The EZ-A G includes 20 different guitar , bass, and other instrument sounds. Choose the sound that best suits the song you’ re playing and your playing style. 1 Press the [SOUND] button. 2 Select a sound number . Use the [+] and [-] buttons to select the sound you w ant to play .
Playing the EZ-AG 14 EZ-AG The EZ-A G’ s virtual capo functions in the same way as a normal guitar capo, “stopping” the strings at the spec- ified fret. The EZ-A G CAPO function can be applied up to the sixth fret. Some guitar books include capo indica- tions that can make setting this function easy .
15 EZ-AG Playing the Songs The EZ-A G features a range of internal songs that y ou can play along with. Song number s 1 through 25 are pre-pr ogrammed into the EZ-A G. Additional songs can be downloaded fr om the internet using a computer and loaded into the EZ-A G f or playback.
Playing the Songs 16 EZ-AG 1 Press [SONG] and select a song. After pressing the [SONG] button, use the [+] and [-] b uttons to select the number of the song you want to play . 2 Press the [DEMO] button to start and stop playbac k. Playback tempo of the songs can be adjusted from q =32 through q =280 (quarter notes per minute).
Playing the Songs 17 EZ-AG This function adjusts the volume of the accompaniment playback, thus allo wing you to set the ideal balance between the accompaniment and what you play on the EZ-A G strings. 1 Press the [V OLUME] b utton once or twice so that “ b b b b A A A A L L L L ” appears on the displa y .
18 EZ-AG Play Along With the Songs T ry playing along with the songs using the EZ-A G ’ s three play modes: STR UM (right hand), CHORD (left hand), and BO TH (both hands). Play using only your right hand. Great for rhythm practice. 1 Press the [SONG] button and use the [+] and [-] b uttons to select the song y ou want to play .

20 EZ-AG Connecting To MIDI Devices The EZ-A G features MIDI IN and OUT connector s that can be used to connect to other MIDI devices f or expanded m usical capabilities. It is also possib le to load additional songs down- loaded from the internet (URL pr ovided belo w) into the EZ-A G via these connectors.
Connecting To MIDI Devices 21 EZ-AG The EZ-A G can be connected to a computer via MIDI. ● T o connect the EZ-AG to a computer that is equipped with USB connec- tors use a USB-MIDI interface such as the Y amaha UX16, as shown in the diagram belo w .
Connecting To MIDI Devices 22 EZ-AG In order to perform the operations described in this section you will need to use a computer connected to the internet to do wnload the free Song Filer application from the URL listed below .
Connecting To MIDI Devices 23 EZ-AG Local Control determines whether the EZ-A G plays its own internal tone generator (Local Control = ON), or whether performance data is transmitted via the MIDI OUT connector only , without playing the internal tone generator (Local Control = OFF).
24 EZ-AG Troubleshooting Problem Check No sound. Are the batteries properly installed? Are they run down? Is the volume set to “ 0 ” ? Is a plug plugged into the PHONES/OUTPUT jack? Speaker output is automatically cut off when a plug is inserted into the PHONES/ OUTPUT jack.
