19 Connection English Connecting a HDMI sourc e de vice The project or provides a HDMI input socket that allows y ou to connect it to a HDMI source dev ice like a DVD play er , a DTV tuner or a display .

24 Operation English U sing the On-Screen Displa y (OSD) menus The projector is equipped with On-Screen Displa y (O SD) menus for making various adjustment s and settings. Below is the ov er view of the OSD menu. T o use the OSD men us, please set the OSD menu to your familiar language first.

30 Operation English Selectin g the as pect ratio The 'aspect ratio' is the r atio of the image width to th e image height. Most analog TV and computers ar e in 4:3 ratio, and digital TV and DVDs are usually in 16:9 ratio .
31 Operation English Optimizing the i mage Us i n g W a l l C o l o r In the situation where y ou are projectin g onto a colored surface suc h as a painted wall which may not be whit e, the W all Color feature can help correct the project ed picture’ s color to preven t possible color differe nce between the source and projected pictures.
32 Operation English Setting the User 1/User 2 mode There ar e two user-d efinable modes if the current availabl e picture modes are not suitab le for your need. Y ou can use one of the pictur e modes (ex cept the User 1/2 ) as a start ing point and customize the settings.

This feature utilizes a new color -proc essin g algorit hm and sy stem level en hancements to enabl e hig her br ight ness while providing truer , more v ibrant colors in picture.

For e xample, if you select R ed and set its range at 0, onl y pure red in the pr ojected picture will be selected. Incr easing its range will include red close to y ellow and red close to magenta.

37 Operation English Locking control k eys W ith the control k eys on the projector locked, y ou ca n prevent your pr ojector setting s from being changed accidentally (by children, for e xample). When the Panel Key Lock is on, no control k eys on the projector will opera te except Power .
38 Operation English Cr eating your o w n star tup screen In addition to selecting the projecto r preset star tup sc reen fr om among BenQ logo, Black or Blue screen, y ou can make y our own star tup screen that is a picture projected fr om your computer or video sourc e.

40 Operation English Shutting down the projector 1. Pr ess Po w e r and a confirmation mess age displays prompting yo u. If yo u don't respond in a few seconds, the message w ill disappear . If you want to cancel the message, press any k ey except PAGE / a n d LA SER on the re mote cont rol.
41 Operation English On-Screen Displa y (OSD) M enus Me n u s t r u c t u re Please note that the on-screen displa y (OSD) menus vary accor ding to the signal typ e selected. Some function s are a vailable only when certain input signals are in use. The menu items are a vailable when the projector detects at least one valid signal.

46 Maintenance English M aintenanc e Care of the pr ojector Y o ur project or needs little maintenanc e. The only thing you n eed t o do on a r egular basis is to keep the lens cl ean. Nev er remov e any parts of the pr ojector exc ept the lamp. C ontact your dealer if other parts need replacing.
47 Maintenance English Extending lamp life The projection lamp is a consumable it em that norma lly can last up to 2000-3000 hours with proper usage. T o keep the lamp life as long as possible, y ou can do the following settings via the OSD me nus.
48 Maintenance English Re p l a c i n g th e la m p • T o reduce th e risk of electrical shock, always turn the p rojector off and disconn ect the power cord before changing the l amp. • T o reduce th e risk of severe burns, allow the projector t o cool for at least 45 minutes b efore replacing the lamp.
49 Maintenance English 7. Lift the handle so that it stands up. U se the handle to slowly pull the lamp out of the projector . Pulling it too quickly may cause the lamp to break and scatter broken glass in th e projector . Do not place the lamp in loca tions where water might splash on it, ch ildren can reach it, or near flammable materials.
