5 RANGE SAFETY • Utensil Handles Should Be Turned Inward and Not Extend Over Adjacent Surface Units – To reduce the risk of burns, ignition of flammable materials, and spillage due to unintentional contact with the utensil, the handle of a utensil should be positioned so that it is turned inward, and does not extend over adjacent surface units.

7 U SING Y OUR R ANGE To get the best cooking results, you should use your range the correct way. This section tells you what you need to know to use your range safely and efficiently. U SING THE SURF ACE BURNERS w W ARNING Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Hazard Do not operate with a yellow flame.
8 USING Y OUR RANGE Using the right cookware makes a big difference • The pan should have a flat bottom, straight sides, and a well-fitting lid. • Choose medium to heavy gauge (thick- ness) cookware. • The pan material (metal or glass) affects how quickly and evenly the pan heats.
9 General guidelines Follow this section carefully to get the best cooking results. • Before turning on the oven, place oven racks where you need them. • To move a rack, pull it out to the stop, raise the front edge, and lift it out. • Be sure the rack(s) is level.
10 USING Y OUR RANGE F OR BEST AIR CIRCULA TION Hot air must circulate around the pans in the oven for even heat to reach all parts of the oven. This results in better baking. • Place the pans so that one is not directly over the other. • For best results, allow 1 1 ⁄ 2 -2 inches of space around each pan and between pans and oven walls.
11 B AKING / RO ASTING Rear Front 2. Push in and tur n the oven temperature contr ol knob counterclockwise to the baking/roasting temperature you want. The oven burner will light by itself in 50-60 seconds. IMPORTANT: Do not attempt to light the oven burner during a power failure.

13 B ROILING ( MODEL SF 3020 EE ) The broiler is located below the oven door. Always broil with the broiler and oven doors closed. NOTES: • Do not step on or apply weight to the broiler door when it is open. This could damage the door. • Do not preheat the broiler before using it, unless your recipe recommends it.
14 USING YOUR RANGE B ROILING ( MODELS SF 304 PEE AND SF 305 PEE ) The broiler is located below the oven door. The broiler pan and grid roll out for easy access. Always broil with the broiler and oven doors closed. NOTES: • Do not step on or apply weight to the broiler door when it is open.
15 Recommended pan positions are numbered from bottom (0) to top (2) (see “Broiling” earlier in this section.) For best results, turn your meat after about 2 ⁄ 3 of the broiling time. Turn chicken pieces after about 1 ⁄ 2 of the broiling time.
16 USING YOUR RANGE Making sure the anti-tip bracket is installed: • Slide range forward. • Look for the anti-tip bracket securely attached to floor. • Slide range back so rear range foot is under anti-tip bracket. T HE ANTI - TIP BRACKET The range will not tip during normal use.
17 C ARING FOR Y OUR R ANGE Your range is designed so you can care for it easily. You can do most cleaning with items found around your home. Lift the fr ont of cooktop at both front corners until the support rods lock into place. NOTE: Do not dr op the cooktop. Damage could r esult to the porcelain and the cooktop frame.

21 CARING FOR YOUR RANGE CARING FOR YOUR RANGE Cleaning the surface burners • You should routinely remove and clean the burner cap. Always clean the burner cap after a spillover. Keeping the burner cap clean pre- vents improper ignition and an uneven flame.
22 5. After cleaning the gas tube opening and ports, r eplace the bur ner cap. T o replace the burner cap, make sur e the alignment pins on the cap are pr operly aligned with the burner base.
23 CARING FOR Y OUR RANGE R EMOVING THE OVEN DOOR ( CONT . ) To remove: 1. Open the door about halfway. Insert door removal pins into both hinge hangers. Do not remove them while the door is removed from the range. 3. Rotate the door toward the range.
24 R EMO VING THE OVEN BOTTOM You can remove the panel in the oven bottom for cleaning. To remove: 1. Let oven cool. 2. Remove the oven racks. 3. Remove the 2 hold-down screws at the rear of the oven. If the screws are too tight to remove by hand, use a screwdriver.
25 CARING FOR Y OUR RANGE T HE OVEN LIGHT ( MODELS SF 304 PEE AND SF 305 PEE ) The oven light will come on when you open the oven door. To turn the light on or off when the oven door is closed: • Push the oven light switch on the backguard. To replace the oven light: 1.
26 PROBLEM Nothing works CAUSE • The range is not properly connected to the gas supply. Contact an authorized service technician to reconnect the range to the gas supply. (See the Installation Instructions.) • You have blown a household fuse or tripped a circuit breaker.
