8 ■ Run a rinse cycle to keep dishes moi st if you do not p lan to wash them soon. Foods su ch as eggs, rice, pasta, spinach, and cooked cereals may b e hard to remove if they are left to dry over a period of time.
9 Adjustable 2-position top ra ck (on some models) Y ou can raise or lower th e top rack to f it tall items in eith er the top or bottom rack. Raise the top rack to accommodate items u p to 9 in. (22 c m) in the top rack and 13 in . (33 cm) i n the bo ttom rack, or lower t he top rack to accommodate item s up to 11 in .
10 FLIP AW A Y™ plate holders (on some models) Y ou c an fo ld up al l, or p art, of the row of V -shaped fl exible tines at the back of the bottom rack. This is useful when washing a variet y of dishes , pots an d pans , or roasters. Fold-down tines (on some models) Y ou can fold down on e row of tines at the b ack of the botto m rack.
11 ■ Place sm all items su ch as baby b ottle c aps, jar lid s, corn cob holder s, etc., in th e section( s) with hinged cover(s). Close the cover to hold s mall items in place. ■ Mix items in each sect ion of the basket with some poi nting up and some dow n to avoid nes ting.

19 Drain Air Gap Check the drain air gap anytime y our dishwas her isn’t draining well. Some state or loc al plumbing codes require the additi on of a drain air gap bet ween a built-in dishwasher an d the home drai n system. If a drain is clogged, the drain air gap prot ects your dishwasher fr om water b acking up into it.
