[ iii ] Installing the battery pack 1) Press down on th e battery cover release and sli de th e cover down un til it comes off. 2) Connect the battery plug to th e socket at the r ear of th e battery compartmen t. The RED and BLA CK battery wires must m atch the RED and BLA CK dots on the phon e case for the plug to fit pr operly .
[ iv ] Charging the handset 1) Place the handset in th e base unit with the keypad facin g forward . 2) Make sur e the charge LED illumin ates. If th e LED does not illumin ate, check to see that the A C adapter is plugged in an d that the handset mak es good contact with th e base chargin g contacts.

[ 4 ] CHECKING THE P ACKAGE CONTENTS Mak e sure you have received th e following items in th e package . If any of these item s are missing or d amaged , contact your r etailer .
[ 5 ] MOUNTING THE BASE UNIT ON A W ALL Y ou can moun t your base directly to the wall. Bef ore d oing this, con sider the f ollowing: • Avoi d electrical cables, pipes , or other items behind th e mountin g location that could cause a hazard wh en insertin g screws into th e wall.
[ 6 ] BA TTER Y MAINTENANCE Cleaning the battery charging contacts T o maintain a good charge , it is important to clean the charging contacts on the handset once a month. Use a dry cloth or pencil eraser to clean. Battery use time (per charge) Fully charg ed • Up to 7 hours con tinuous use .
[ 7 ] Battery replacement and handling When th e operating tim e becomes short, even after a battery is rechar ged, please r eplace the battery . With norm al usage , your battery should last about one year . Please contact your place o f purchase or the Uni den P arts Department f or a replacem ent battery .
[ 8 ] Y our phon e may be used with an option al headset, th e Unid en HS910. T o use this feature , insert th e headset plug into th e headset jack. Y our phone is r eady for han ds-free conversation s. Headset is available thr ough Unid en authorized retailers.
[ 9 ] Ther e are 3 main m enu options , ( Handset Setup, Global Setup and System Reset ) and subm enu option s. Summary of the Main Menu and Submenu ABOUT THE MENU OPTIONS • During Global Setup and System Reset, mak e sure your cordless ph one is in standby m ode (not in use), and th e handset is within range of t he ma in base unit.

Selecting a Ringer T one 1) Enter the H andset Setup men u, and th en the Ring er T ones subm enu (see “ Entering th e Menu ” on pag e 11). Ther e are 10 ring er tones or 10 Polyph onic T ones to choose fr om.
[ 13 ] Setting the Anyk ey Answer 1) Enter the H andset Setup men u, and th en the Anyk ey Answer subm enu (see “ Enterin g the M enu ” on page 11).

[ 15 ] System Reset De-register the Handset 1) Enter the System Reset m enu, and th en the Deregister HS subm enu (see “ Enterin g the Menu ” on pag e 11). 2) Press . Deregister HS? appears. 3) Press /vol/ or /vol/ to select Yes . 4) Press . Y ou will hear a confirm ation tone .
BASICS This handset has a built-in speak erphone that allows you to have a han ds-free conversation. This featur e allows you to communicate easily while perf orming other tasks, su ch as cooking. appears durin g hands-free conversati ons. Y ou can easily switch a call from n ormal conversation to han ds-free conversati on.
The K eypad Lock prevent user fr om pressing the k eypad acciden tally . Y ou can still answer calls , and receive pag e and ph onebook location s, and th e keypad lock is reactivated after th e operation. T o lock the keypad Press an d hold un til you hear a confirmati on tone .
The last thr ee phone n umbers dialed can be quickly redi aled. Redialing from Standb y Mode 1) Press r edial/pause in standby mode . 2) Press redial/pause again. Each press o f redial/pause will display on e of the last thr ee number r edialed. 3) Press or speaker .
[ 19 ] ADJUSTING THE HANDSET RINGER, EARPIECE AND SPEAKER VOLUME Handset ringer volume Press th e volume up key or volum e down key (labeled as /vol/ or /vol/ in standby m ode to select one of thr ee ringer volum e (off, low , or high).
[ 20 ] TRA VELING OUT -OF-RANGE During a call, as you begin to m ove your handset too far fr om your base unit, noise may in crease . If you pass the ran ge limits o f the base unit, you will hear a beep an d see Out of Range on th e display , and th en the han dset returns to stan dby mode .
If you encoun ter interferen ce while using your phone , you can man ually improve th e sound by setting the Clarity Booster to on. This work s only when the phone is in use . 1) Press /del durin g talk time (while phon e is in use). 2) Press /vol/ or /vol/ to m ove the pointer to Clarity Boost , and then .
[ 22 ] FIND HANDSET T o locate the han dset, press on the base when th e base is in standby mod e. The han dset beeps for 60 seconds , and “ Paging ” appears on the han dset display . T o cancel paging, pr ess any key on th e handset or on the base .
[ 23 ] USING ONE TOUCH VOICE MAIL ACCESS If you subscribe to voice m ail service , you can use your phone to access your voice mailbo x. The new m essage LED flashes when ever you have messages waitin g in your voice m ailbox.
PHONEBOOK [ 24 ] The Ph onebook allows you to dial a n umber using just a few key presses . Y our phone stores n ames/numbers in th e phonebook mem ory location, and you can sear ch names in alphabetical or der .

[ 26 ] STEPS FOR ENTERING NAMES AND SPECIAL CHARACTERS Refer to the letters on th e number keys to select th e desired characters . With each press of a n umber key ( - ), the displayed char acter appears in the followin g order: upper case letters first, lower case letters ne xt and finally th e number correspondin g to the k ey .
[ 27 ] If the n ext character uses the sam e number key , you must press to move th e cursor over . Otherwise the n ext time you press th e number key , it chang es the character that was previ ously set. If you mak e a mistake while entering a name Use or to move the cursor to th e incorrect char acter .

[ 29 ] MAKING CALLS USING THE PHONEBOOK From Standb y Mode 1) When the ph one is in standby m ode , view th e phon ebook location to dial (see “ Vi ewing th e Phon ebook ” on page 28). 2) Press or speaker . The displayed n umber is dialed . 3) T o hang up press .

[ 31 ] CHAIN DIALING The m emory location s in the handset are n ot limited to phone n umbers. Y ou can also store a gr oup of numbers (up to 20 di gits), that you need to enter once your call connects . This is referred to as Chain Di aling. An ex ample of this is a bank account n umber .
[ 32 ] Y ou must subscribe to Caller ID services through y our local telephone provider to use these features . When th e telephone rin gs, the Caller ID feature allows you to vi ew the caller ’ s nam e, an d phon e number along with th e date and time o f call.
[ 33 ] VIEWING THE CALLER ID LIST The Caller ID list stor es informati on for incoming calls - even un answered calls . Y ou can store 100 o f the Caller ID messag es (up to 50 location s) and Phon ebook location s (includin g SpeedDials) in total. Y ou can view the Caller ID list d uring a call or when th e phone is in stan dby mode .
[ 34 ] Deleting Information fr om the Caller ID List 1) When the ph one is in standby m ode , view th e Caller ID inform ation to be deleted (see “ Vi ewing th e Caller ID List ” on page 33). 2) Press /del . Delete Caller ID appears. 3) Press /vol/ or /vol/ to ch oose Yes .

[ 36 ] The di gital security code is an id entificati on code used to connect the han dset and the base unit. Norm ally , setting th e code is not necessary . In th e rare situ ation that you suspect anoth er cordless telephon e is using the sam e security code, you can chan ge the cod e.
