In the United States, the M7200 mobile radio must be operated in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

MM23016, Rev. C 18 7 OPENSKY OPERATION 7.1 CH721 FRONT PANEL COMPONENTS The front panel of the control head includes a dot matrix display, controls for menu navigation, an emergency button, three pre-set buttons, a Po wer On-Off/Volume Control knob, and a microphone connector.
MM23016, Rev. C 19 The buttons on the front panel are backlit for operati on in a low ambient light level such as nighttime operation. Some buttons also flash to provide feedback of various o perating conditions.

MM23016, Rev. C 27 7.13 DUAL-TONE MULTI-FREQUENCY Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) is the system used by touch-tone telephones. DTMF assigns a specific tone frequency to each key so a microprocessor can easily identify its activation. The radio supports DTMF with a system model control head ( Figure 7-1).
MM23016, Rev. C 28 7.14.2 DTMF Overdial Using the keypad on a System Model, the ra dio can transmit DTMF tones corresponding to numbers/characters 0 — 9, * and # on the keypad. To overdial numbers/characters, trans mit by pressing and holding the PTT butto n and then, press the corre sponding ke ys (one at a time) on the keypad.

If a talk group is locked out and is subsequently changed to the currently selected talk group, it will automatically be unlocked by the radio so the user can hear calls on the talk group.

MM23016, Rev. C 63 9.8 EMERGENCY OPERATION The radio's ability to declare an emergency, clear an emergency, remain lo cked on an emergency and group, and the emergency audio and display fr eeze can each be enabled or disabled through programming.

When the radio receives a call (and the correct enco ding is decoded, if programmed and ena bled), it unmutes on the channel and the BSY indicator comes on. 10.6 SENDING A CALL 1. Turn ON the radio and set the POWER ON-OFF/VOLUME knob to the desired volume level.
MM23016, Rev. C 81 10.7.2 Tone Encode Transmission In conventional mode, two keys can be defined to be tone encode tr iggers. If either one of the pre- programmed tone encode triggers is pressed, a pr e-programmed tone sequence will be transmitted on the current system and channel.
MM23016, Rev. C 82 5. A third press of ( + ) sets the channel for Priority 1 (P 1) scanning and is displayed on line 1. If the P1 or P2 channels are already set and a new channel is then as signed as the P1 or P2 channel, the previously assigned priority channel will change to non-priority scanni ng.

C 83 10.11 SQUELCH ADJUST In the conventional mode of operation, the squelch can be re-adjusted in the MENU selection mode or from a front panel key on the keypad that has been pre-programmed. A default value of 9, or any user level between 1 and 16, can be selected using progr amming software.

MM23016, Rev. C 91 11.6 INDIVIDUAL CALLS IN P25 MODE 11.6.1 Transmitting an Individual Call 1. Select the desired P25 system. 2. Select the radio unit to call (callee source ID) fro m the pre-programmed individual call list or enter the ID number on the radio keypad.
MM23016, Rev. C 92 11.7.2 Receiving an Emergency Group Call 1. Select the desired P25 System and Talk Group/Channel. 2. When the radio detects an incoming Emergency Group Call, the radio will sound an alert tone and “ RXEMER ” will appear in the display.
