A second SA T A backplane can be installed or a similar SCSI backplane can be inst alled.
2.3 Installing hard drives 22 Chapter 2: Setting up 4. Fix the storag e backplane to the drive housing u sing six screws. 5. Press the dr ive housing re lease button and lower th e drive housing back into pla ce. 6. Connect power and dat a cables to the backplane.

Remove th e thin, center ra il from each sliding rail set. 2. T ake the remaining rails and att ach the short L sections to them using the two M4L4 -H2.
2.4 Rack mounting Chapter 2: Settin g up 27 3. Bolt the assembl ed rail set s to the rack using M5L8-H3 screws. 4. Remove t he top, bl ack panel from the server to reveal the rail mounting screws beneath. 5. Bolt one of the thin, center sliding rails to ea ch side of the server using M4L6-H2.
2.4 Rack mounting 28 Chapter 2: Setting up 7. Lif t the server up to the level of the rack and slide it between the rails mounte d in the rack. 8. Bolt the ea rs to the rack using M5L15- H3 screws to secure the server in place. Note: When the rails are extended, they will lock.
2.5 Standalone Chapter 2: Settin g up 29 2.5 S t andalone The B4881V50S4H can be used as a st andalone device when fitted with the plast ic feet in the accessory pack. When used as a stand alone device, the feet mu st be fitted to pre- vent the unit from falling over .

Remove th e four screws that ho ld the fan to the cha ssis and remove the fan. 5. Place a ne w fan in position in the chassis and se cure in place with four screws.
