7 Before using the ap pliance Rating plate This is situated on the lower fron t fra me of the ap pliance and can b e seen u pon opening the door. Al ternativel y the rating plate may a lso be fo und on th e ba ck or top of some mo dels (where applicable) .
8 The hob Using the hob The gas hob h as diffe rent burner sizes to suit different t ypes of cooking: To ensure maximum b urner efficiency only use pots and pans w ith flat bases appropr iate to the burn er size used. Larger burner (Rapid) - use a large p an for food such as chips.
9 To turn off any b urner 1. Turn the control knob to t he off p osition. This is shown by a large dot. When light ing any burner, ensu re that it is l it b efore y ou leave t he appliance. When turning off a burne r, en sure the flam e has gone o ut b efore leaving the appliance.
10 The grill CAUTION – A ccessibl e parts m ay be hot when the grill is in us e. Young children should be kept away. When you first opera te the grill you m ay hear some sounds as t he bur ner heats up, this i s quite normal and is n ot a fa ult on the appliance.
11 Hints and tips • Most food s should be placed on the g rid in the grill pan to allow maximu m circulation of air to lift the food ou t of the fats and juices. • Adjust the grid to allow for different thicknesses of foo d. • Food should be thorough ly dried befo re grilling to minim ise splashing.

13 The main ove n Heat zones There are zones of heat within t he o ven. Th e temperat ure in the middle i s the gas mark you have c hosen. Th e top of the oven is slightly hotter and the lower s helf slightly cooler. Th e base of the o ven is quite a lot cooler.
14 Hints and tips • Arrange the she lves in the r equired positions before sw itching the o ven o n. Shelf position s ar e number ed from the top downwar ds. • Ensure that f ood is placed cent rally on the shelf and t here is suffi cien t room around th e baking tray/d ish to allow fo r maximum circulation.
15 Cooking cha rt The ov en temperat ures are intended a s a guide only. It may be necess ary to incre ase or d ecrease the temper atures to su it individual p references and requir ements.

17 Slow cook The slow cook setting gives a ver y low heat in th e ov en. It is pa rticularly useful when you are cooking soups, stews an d cassero les because th e long slow cooking will make cheaper, tougher cuts o f meat m ore tender . Some foo ds such as pastry and biscuits are not suitable fo r slow cooking b ecause the temperat ure is too low.
18 Soups, casser oles and stews • Do not cook casser oles over 2.7 kg (6lb). • Bring to the bo il on the hotplat e then cook on slow cook. • Cook on th e midd le she lf of the oven o r above. • Cover food with a tight fitting lid or tin foil. Vegetables • Cut into sma ll pieces.
19 Care and clea ning Before cleaning alw ays allo w th e appliance to cool down . Cleaning material s Before u sing any cl eaning materi als o n your appliance, c heck that the y are s uitable a nd that their u se is recomm ended by the manufact urer.
20 Cleaning the hob Clean the hot plate top using a mi ld abrasive. Take care not to damage the spark electrode s. If the spark elec trod es are damaged t he burner s will not light. You can remove the pan supports, bur ner caps and burner crowns to clean them.
21 Cleaning the s helves and grill/oven furnitur e All remo vable par ts, can be wa shed in the dishwasher. The grill pa n, grill pan grid and o ven shelves may be clea ned using a soap impr egnated steel woo l pad . Soaking first in hot soapy water will make clean ing eas ier.
22 Somethin g not working Maintena nce mu st onl y be carri ed out by a compe tent/qualified p erson. Do not try to alte r/modify the applian ce yourself, as thi s co uld be dangero us. We recomm end that your appliance has an annual gas safe ty check carried out by our appr oved service org anisation.
23 Somethin g not working continued Problem Possible solu tion The bur ner is not igniting or only partially lighting. Check that the burner i s d ry and tha t food spillage or clea ning fluids a re no t pre sent on the burner. This can be d ried w ith a cloth and stubborn m arks cleaned away with a dr y nylon brush (old toot hbrush etc.

29 To move the appliance, ope n the grill door. Raise th e a ppliance o ff its front feet by lifting it from inside th e oven. Pull the appliance forward . When you replace the appliance push it ba ck to the stop and mak e sure t here is the same gap at each rea r corner .
30 Levelling the app liance Adjustment to suit floor con ditio ns or he ight is obtained by rotat ing cl ockwise or anti clockwise the feet at the fro nt an d r ear of th e appliance. A sp irit level should be placed on one of the shelves to confirm the appliance is correctly levelled.
31 Connecting to g as supply This app liance is designe d to be insta lled with an ap pliance flexible conn ection only. Supply p iping sh ould n ot b e les s than R 3 /8 . Connection is mad e to the Rc ½ ( ½” B.S.P.) female t hreaded entry pipe located just below the hot plate le vel on the re ar left hand side of the app liance.
32 3. Draw a line 100 mm from t he front edge of the feet ( see F ig.3a) and rem ove appliance fro m its po sition. M ark off dimension ' B' (see Fig.4a) back from this line on the centr e line of the bracket to locate the front edge of the lower bra cket.
33 2. Connect the pressure gauge to the oven injector. 3. Check the supply pressure b y turni ng the th ermostat o n and one h otplat e tap full on and light the approp riate burner. The pre ssure should be either:- (i) For Nat ural Gas 20mb ar (ii) F or LP.
