In addition to a microprocessor , it contains an operating system, r andom access memory (RAM), and a D VD-RAM/R/RW driv e.

8 Introduction On DVD-RAM discs Use only DVD-RAM discs that comply with D VD-RAM standard V ersion 2.0 or 2.1. The recorder cannot record on a disc formatted in any other standard. When using such a disc , initialize it by using the disc-f or mat function of this recorder .

10 Introduction Playback side On handling discs Do not touch the playback side of the disc. Do not stick paper or tape to discs . On c leaning discs Fingerpr ints and dust on the disc cause picture and sound deterioration. Wipe the disc from the center outwards with a soft cloth.

From this menu, you can access the desired functions while viewing a current picture.

38 Notes on recording from a connected VCR or camcorder Check the condition of the source equipment before playing. Set the equipment in good condition, e.g. clean the head or adjust the tracking, etc. to obtain optimum pla yback. Bad condition ma y produce noises in playbac k.

It will take less time to prepare, as it provides all necessary information for recording, including estimated disc space remaining.

48 Reservation Disc ( “ Loc k program recor d ” ) This function is conv enient when you wish to record multiple serial related programs on the same disc. The disc on which you write the reservation data is called “ Reservation Disc. ” A Reservation Disc ma y contain only one reser v ation.

Protection is provided f or each title (original). 1) Perform steps 1 and 2 in “ Playing recorded contents (CONTENT MENU) ” ( page 53) to select a title.
50 T echnical inf ormation About recording time The recording time of a typical VCR (Video Cassette Recorder) is determined by the length of a video tape and recording speed (SP , LP , etc.). Video tapes with various recording times are a vailab le in the market.

60 Playing a DVD video disc (Continued) Playback Resuming playback from the location last stopped (Resume Play) Y ou can resume playbac k from the location where you stopped. If you press the PLA Y button after stopping pla yback, playbac k resumes from the location you ha v e stopped.

87 Editing Function setup Others Introduction Library Recording Playback These vir tual titles or chapter s are called “ Title (Playlist) ” or “ Chapter (Playlist) ” respectiv ely .
88 Make the compiled chapters into a title (Original). (Dubbing) If you just want to play the compiled chapters in desired order , you only pla y the Playlist. If you want to delete a title (Original) which contains unnecessary chapters, be sure to dub (copy) the Playlist and make it into a title (Original).
