16 Chapter 2: Connecting your TV Connecting an HDMI ® or DVI device to the HDMI input The HDMI input on your TV recei ves digital audio and uncompressed digital video from an HDMI source device, or uncompressed digital video from a D VI (Digital V isual Interface) source device.
17 Chapter 2: Connecting your TV REGZA-LINK ® connection Y ou can control the basic functions of connected audio/video devices using the TV’ s remote control if you connect a REGZA-LINK compatible audio receiv er or playback device. For an e xplanation of setup and operations, see page 49.
18 Chapter 2: Connecting your TV Connecting a digital audio system The TV’ s DIGITAL AUDIO OUT te rminal outpu ts a *Dolby ® Digital or 2-channel down-mixed PCM (pulse-code modulation) signal for use with an external Dolby ® Digital decoder or other external audio system with optical audio input.
19 Chapter 2: Connecting your TV The HDMI input can accept and display VGA, SVGA, XGA, WXGA, SXGA, 480i (60Hz), 480p (60Hz), 720p (60Hz), 1080i (60Hz), and 1080p (24Hz/60Hz) signal formats. For detailed signal specif ications, see page 58. Note: • The edges of th e imag es may be hi dden.
20 Installing the remote control batteries 1無 Remove the battery cov er from the back of the remote control. Squeeze tab and lift cover . 2無 Install two “ AAA” size batteries, maki ng sure to match the + and – signs on the batteries to the signs on the battery compartment.

Chapter 6: Using the TV’ s features 40 Using the Dolby ® Digital Dynamic Range Control feature This dynamic range control feature causes the A TSC dynamic range to be further compressed, allowing you to switch from A TSC to analog broadcasts at the same dynamic range.
Chapter 6: Using the TV’ s features 41 Blocking TV programs and movies by rating (V-Chip) Some TV programs and mo vies include signals that classify the content of the program (violence, sex, dialog, language). The V -Chip feature in this TV detects the signal s and blocks the programs according to the ratings you select.

Chapter 6: Using the TV’ s features 43 Unlocking programs temporarily If you try to tune the TV to a program that e xceeds the rating limits you set, the TV will enter program lock mode and the following message will appear on- screen: This pro gram exceeds the rating limit you set.
Chapter 6: Using the TV’ s features 44 5無 Press to select On . When the control panel is locked and any b utton on the control panel (except POWER ) is pressed, the message “NO T A V AILABLE” appears.

Chapter 7: Using the TV’ s advanced features 54 Using MPEG noise reduction The MPEG noise reduction feature allows you to reduce visible interference caused by MPEG compression. Choices for MPEG noise reduction are Off , Low , Middle , and High . Off is automatically selected when this feature is disabled (“grayed out”).
