10 Getting Started Notes • If a video signal is input to the VCR (via the line input, tuner , or playback), the on- scr een menus will appear on your TV regardless of the NTSC PB switch setting. • If your TV is compatible with the SECAM system, the on-scr een menus may be displayed in black and white.

W ith this function, you can set the language for the on-screen display , TV channels, guide channels for G-CODE, and the VCR clock, guided by the sequence indicated on the TV screen.

23 Getting Started Getting Started If the pictur e is not clear Normally , the Auto Fine T uning (AFT) function automatically tunes in channels clearly . If, however , the picture is not clear , you may also use the manual tuning function. 1 Press PROG +/– to select the programme number for which you cannot obtain a clear picture.

32 Getting Started Manual setup — Setting up G-CODE G-CODE is a feature in Sony VCRs that simplifies pr ogramming the VCR to make timer recor dings. T o use G-CODE, each pr ogramme position needs to be matched with its G-CODE guide channel.

34 Getting Started Setting up G-CODE for satellite br oadcasts When your satellite tuner is connected via the AERIAL IN connector , first you have to set the pr ogramme position for each satellite channel using the TUNER PRESET menu. Then set the guide channel number for each satellite channel using the SET UP CH AND G-CODE menu.
35 Getting Started Getting Started Manual setup –– Changing/ disabling pr ogramme positions After setting the channels and G-CODE guide channels, you can change the programme positions as you like. If any programme positions ar e unused or contain unwanted channels, you can disable them.
