5 Getting Started Getting Started Step 2 Setting up the r emote commander Inserting the batteries Insert two R6 (size AA) batteries by matching the + and – on the batteries to the diagram inside the battery compartment. Insert the negative (–) end first, then push in and down until the positive (+) end clicks into position.

Refer to your TV manual for tuning instructions. If the pictur e does not appear clearly , see “T o obtain a clear pictur e from the VCR” below .

When no more receivable channels can be found, pr esetting stops and the picture from the lowest number ed channel is displayed on the TV scr een.

16 Getting Started Disabling unwanted pr ogramme positions After tuning the TV channels, you can disable unused pr ogramme positions. The disabled positions will be skipped later when you pr ess the PROG +/– buttons. 1 In step 5 on page 15, press pr ogramme number button “ 0” twice to display the number “ 0” beside CHANNEL SET .

How to connect to use this function Connect the VCR and TV with the audio/video cable (see “T o a TV that has audio/video input jacks” on page 6).

T o select the line input, pr ess INPUT SELECT or PROG +/– so that “L1”, “L2” or “L3” appears in the display window .
Basic Operations 26 SP STOP APC Recor ding TV programmes using the easy timer Y ou can recor d one programme on the same day (within 24 hours) with the easy timer . If the VCR clock has not been set, you can set the clock befor e setting the timer r ecording.
Basic Operations 27 Basic Operations continued 4 Set the r ecor ding stop time in the same way as in step 2, then press the EASY TIMER knob. A programme number flashes. 5 T urn the EASY TIMER knob clockwise or counterclockwise to select the programme you want to r ecord.

42 Additional Information T roubleshooting Symptom The ON/ST ANDBY switch does not function. The power is turned on but the VCR does not operate. The clock has stopped and “–:– –” lights in the display window . The playback picture does not appear on the TV screen.
43 Additional Information Recording Symptom No TV programmes appear on the TV screen. TV r eception is poor . The recor ded pictur e has no colour or unusual colours. The tape starts playing as soon as it is inserted. The tape is ejected when you press r REC.
