40 Timer Reco rding Before Recording Before you start recording … • Check t hat t he di sc ha s enou gh a vail able space for t he record ing (p age 33) . For the HDD, DVD+RWs, and DVD-RWs, you can free up disc spac e by erasin g titles (page 6 3).
41 Timer Rec ording The re corder autom atically receiv es and record s stere o and bilin gual pr ogram mes based on the ZWEITO N system or the NIC AM sy stem . The HDD and a DVD-RW (VR mode) or DVD-R (VR mode) can record both main and sub soun ds. You ca n switch between main and sub when p laying the disc .
42 Time r Record ing (Sta ndard/ VIDEO Plus+ ) You can set the timer for a total o f 40 progr amme s (8 prog rammes when us ing the PDC/V PS func tion ), up to 30 days in advan ce. There are two methods to s et the time r: the standard me thod and VIDEO Plus + (RDR- HX520 /HX72 0 only) meth od.

The TI MER REC indicator lights up on the fr ont pane l and the record er is r eady t o start record ing. Unlike a VCR, there is no need to turn off the record er bef ore t he tim er reco rding star ts.

63 Erasing an d Editing To open u p disc s pace To open up disc space on a DVD+RW or DVD-RW (Video mode), erase the ti tle with the larg est number in the title list . For the HDD and D VD-RWs (VR m ode), you can er ase any t itle. For DVD-Rs and DVD+Rs, the a vailable d isc space do es not in crease even if you er ase titles.
