3 [ Cleaning Unplug the set from the wall outlet before cleaning or polishing it. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Us e a clot h lightly dampened with water for cleaning the exteri or of the set.

8 Notes on using your camera [ Internal me mory and “Memory Stick Duo” back up Do not turn off the camera or remove the battery pack or “Memory Stick Duo” while the access lamp is lighted, a s the internal memory data or “Memory Stick Duo” data may be destroyed.

10 1 Preparing the battery pack 1 Insert the batter y pack into the battery charger . 2 Connect the battery charger to the wall outlet (wall socket). The CHARGE lamp lights on, an d charging starts. When the CHARGE lamp turns off, charging is finished (Practical charge).
11 2 Inserting the battery pack/a “Memor y Stick Duo” (not supplied) 1 Open the battery/“Mem ory Stick Duo” cover . 2 Insert th e “Memory Stick Duo” (not supplied) al l the way in until it clicks. 3 Insert the batter y pack. 4 Close the battery/“Mem ory Stick Duo” cover .
12 [ T o remove the battery pac k/“Memory Stick Duo” Open the battery/“Memo ry S tick Duo” cover . • Never remove the battery pack/“Memory Stick Duo” wh en the access lamp is lit. This may ca use damage to data in the “Memory Stick Duo”.
13 3 T urning the camera on/setting the clock 1 Press the PO WER button or press (Playbac k) button. 2 Set the clock with the control button. 1 Select the date display format with v / V , then press z . 2 Select each item with b / B and set the nume ric value with v / V , then press z .
14 Shooting images easily 1 Select the desired function from the mode dial. When shooting still images (Auto Adjustment mode): Select . When shooting movies: Select . 2 Hold the camera steady , keeping your arm at y our side . 3 Shoot with the shu tter button.
15 Mode dial/ Zoom/Flash/Ma cro/Self-timer /Display [ Using the mode dial Set the mode dial to the desired function. Auto Adju stment Allows easy shooting with the set tings adjusted a utomatically . Program Aut o Allows you to shoot with the exposure adjusted automaticall y (both the shutter speed and the aperture val ue).
16 Viewing/deleting images 1 Press (Playback) b utton. If you press when the camera is powered off, the camer a is turned on autom atically and set to playback mode. T o switch to the sh ooting mode, press again. 2 Select an image with b / B on the c ontrol b u tton.
17 [ Viewing an in dex screen Press (Index) button to display the inde x screen while a still ima ge is displayed. Then, select an image with v / V / b / B . T o return to the single image screen, press z . • You can al so access the index sc reen by selecting [ Index Displa y] i n (View Imag es) on the HOME screen.
18 Learning the various functions – HOME/Menu Using the HOME screen The HOME screen is the gatew ay scre en for all the functions of your camera. Y ou can select the shooting mode or playback mode, or chan ge the settings from the HOME screen. 1 Press HOME to display the HOME screen.

20 Using menu items 1 Press M ENU to disp lay the menu. • The menu will be di splayed only during sh ooting and playback mode. • Different items wi ll become visi ble depending on the selected mode. 2 Select the desired item with v / V on the control button.
21 For details on the operation 1 page 20 Menu items The av ailable menu items vary depending on the camera mode. The shooting menu is a vailable only in th e s hooting mode, and the vi ewing menu is a vailable only in th e playback mode. Also, the menu items av ailable vary depending on the mode dial position.
22 Enjoying your computer Y ou can display images shot w ith the camera on the computer. Also, you can use still images and movies from th e camera more than ev er by taking advantage of the software.
23 Viewing “Cyber -sho t Handbook” and “Cyber -shot Step-up Gu ide” [ For Windows users 1 T urn on your compu ter , an d insert the CD- R OM (supplied) into the CD-R OM driv e. The screen belo w appears. When you click the [Cyber-shot Handbook] button, th e screen for copying “Cyber-shot Handbook” appears.

26 Batter y life and memory capacity Batter y life and number of imag es that can be recorded/vi ewed The tables sho w the approximate number of images that can be r ecorded/viewed and the battery life when yo u shoot images in [Normal] mode with the ba ttery pack (supplied) at full capac ity and at an ambient temperature of 25°C (77°F).
27 Number of still images and reco rding time of movies The number of still images and the length of time for mo vies may var y depending on the shooting conditions. • You can select the image size to be used when s hooting from the menu (pag es 20, 21).
28 T roubleshooting If you experi ence trouble with your camera, try the following solutions. Please understand that you give your consent that the contents of the internal memory , Music files may be checked when you se nd your camera to be repaired.
29 The battery remain ing indicator is incorrect. • This phenom enon occurs when you use the camera i n an extremely hot or cold lo cation. • The display ed battery remai ning differs from the c urrent one. Fu lly discharge and the n charge the batter y pack to c orrect the display .
30 Precautions [ Do not use/store the c amera in the foll owing places • In an extremely ho t, cold or humid place In places such as in a car parked in the sun, the camera body may become deformed and thi s may cause a malfunction.
