AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a A ccessing the pr oduct Access from the Internet Once connected, the Axis product is accessible on your local net work (LAN). To access the product from the Internet you must con fi gure your network router to allow incoming data traf fi c to the product.
AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a A ccessing the pr oduct Note • The default administrator user name root is permanent and cannot be deleted. • If the password for root is lost, the product must be reset to the factory default settings. See Reset to factory default settings, on page 49 .
AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a A ccessing the pr oduct Click Snapshot to save a snapshot of the video image. Right-click the video image to save it in JPEG format on your computer. This button is primarily intended for use w hen the AXIS Media Control viewer toolb ar is not available.
AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a A ccessing the pr oduct Click the Emulate joystick mode button and click in the image to move the camera view in the direction of the mouse pointer. Click the Center mode button and click in the image to center the camer a view on that position.
AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a Media str eams Media streams The Axis product provides several audio and video stream form ats. Your requirem ents and the properties of your network will determine the type you use. The Live View page in the product provides access to H.

AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a Media str eams Note • <ip>= IP addess • The Axis product supports QuickTim e 6.5.1 and later. • QuickTime adds latency to the video stream. • It may be possible to use other players to view the H.264 stream using the paths a bove, although Axis does not guarantee this.
AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a Settin g up the pr o duct Setting up the product The Axis product can be con fi gured by users with administrator or opera tor rights. Click Setup in the top right-hand corner of t h eL i v eV i e wp a g e . • Administrators have unrestricted access to all sett ings.
AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a Video and A udio Video and Audio The video and audio settings ca n be used to optimize video an d audio quality. You c an con fi gure the following: • Vide o stream settings. See page 20 . •S t r e a m p r o fi les. See page 21 .
AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a Video and A udio • Video & Audio > Video Stream .U n d e r Preview , click Open and select the Show pixel counter option to enable the rectangle in the image. Use the mouse to move and resi ze the rectangle, or enter the number of pixels in the Width and Height fi elds and click Apply .

AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a Video and A udio Day/Night The IR cut fi lter prevents infrared ( IR) light fro m reaching the image sensor. In poor li ghting conditions, for example at night, or when using an IR lamp, set the I R cut fi lter to Off . This increases light s ensitivity and allo ws the product to “see” infrared light.

Go to Video & Audio > Overlay Image , click Browse to locate the fi le and then click Upload .T h e fi l ec a nt h e nb es e l e c t e df r o mt h e Use overlay image drop-down list .
AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a Video and A udio Half-duplex - Audio can be transmitted in both directions between th e Axis product and the client computer, but only in one direction at a time. You must active ly receive sound using the Talk/Listen button visible in the Live View page (see AXIS Media Control viewer toolbar ).

The output can be used with high impedance headphones or connected to another ampli fi er with speaker s. Con fi gure the audio output settings und er Video & Audio > Audio Settings .

AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a PTZ (P an T ilt Zoom) PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) Preset Positions A preset position is a prede fi ned view that can be used to quickly steer the camera to a speci fi c location. Preset positions can be accessed in several ways: • By selecting the preset from the Preset posi tions drop-down list in the Live View Page.

AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a Detector s Detectors Camera Tampering Camera Tampering can gene rate an alarm whenever the came ra is repositioned, or when the lens is covered, sprayed or severely defocused. To send an alarm, for example an email, an action rule must be set up.

Select the Con fi gure Included Windows option and click New . Select the new window in the list of windows and enter ad e s c r i p t i v en a m e .

AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a Ev e n ts Events The Axis product can be con fi gured to perform actions w hen different events occur, for example, star t a recording when m otion is detected. The set o f conditions that de fi nes how and when the action is triggered is called an Action Rule .
AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a Ev e n ts 5. Set one of the available pre-pr ogrammed time intervals from the Schedule drop-down list. 6. Select Send Noti fi cation from the Type drop-down list. 7. Select where to send the noti fi cation from the Recipient drop-down list.

To use the recurrence in an Action Rule, fi rst select Time fr om the Trigger drop-down list in the Action Rule Setup page and then select the recurrenc e from the second drop-down list. To modify or remove recurrences, sele ct the recurrence in the Recurrences List and click Modify or Remove .

AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a Re c o rd i n gs Note If a new stream pro fi le is selected while a recording is ongoing, the reco rding will be stopped and saved in the recording list and a new recording with the new stream pro fi le will start.
AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a System Options System Options Security Users User access control is enabled by default and can be con fi gured under System Options > Security > Users . An administrator can set up other users by givi ng them user names and passw ords.
AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a System Options IEEE 802.1X IEEE 802.1X is a standard for port-based Network Admission Control p roviding secure authentication of wired and wireless network devices. IEEE 802.1X is based on EAP (Extensible Authentication Protocol).
AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a System Options To change the date and time settings, select the preferred Time mode under Ne w Server Time : • Synchronize w ith computer time sets date and time according to the computer’s clock. With this op tion, date and time are set once and will not be updated automatically.

AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a System Options Link-Local IPv4 Address Link-Local Address is enabled by default and assi gns the Axis product an additional IP address which can be used to access the product from other hosts on the same seg ment on the loca l network.
AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a System Options Note This FTP server has nothing to do with the product’s abil ity to transfer images via FTP to other locations and ser vers. RTSP The RTSP server running in the Axis product allows a connecting client to start an H.
AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a System Options The following traps are available: •C o l d s t a r t •W a r m s t a r t •L i n k u p • Authenticatio n failed SNMP v3 provides encryption and secure passwords. To use traps with SNM P v3, an SNMP v3 management application is required.
AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a System Options If the card’s status shows as failed, click Check disk to see if the problem can be found and then try Repair . To avoid fi lling the card, it is recommended to remove recordings continuously. Under Recording Settings , select Remove recordings older than and select the number of days or weeks.

AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a System Options Advanced Scripting Scripting allows experienced users to customi ze and use their own scripts. Caution Improper use may cause unexpected behavior a nd loss of contact with the Axis product. Axis strongly recommends that you do not use this function unless y ou understand the consequences.
AXIS P1344-E Network Camer a System Options 2. Press and hold the Control button and reconnect power (see Hardware overview, on page 5 ). 3. Keep the Control button pressed for about 15 seconds until the Status indicator fl ashes amber. 4. Release the Control button.
