AXIS 212 PTZ - Accessing the Camera 9 AXIS Media Control The AXIS Media Control (AMC) is inst alled automatically the first time th e camera is accessed from Microsoft Internet Explorer. The AMC control pa nel can be opened by right-clicking on the video image in the Live View web page.
AXIS 212 PTZ - The Live View Page 10 The Live View Page Depending on whether or not the Live View page has be en customize d, the buttons described below may or may not be visible. The Video Format drop-down list allows the video format on the Live View page to be temporarily changed.
AXIS 212 PTZ - The Live View Page 11 Pan/Tilt/Zoom controls The AXIS 212 PTZ can be controlled by clicki ng in the image, or by clicking on the Pan/Tilt/Zoom bars on the Live View page. These are enabled/di sabled for specified users by the administrator under System Options > Security > Users > User List .
AXIS 212 PTZ - Video Streams 12 Video Streams The AXIS 212 PTZ provides several different image and vide o stream formats. The type to use depends on your requirements and on the pr operties of your network. The Live View page in the AXIS 212 PT Z provides access to Motion JPEG and MPEG-4 video streams, as well as to single JPEG images.
AXIS 212 PTZ - Video Streams 13 MPEG-4 protocols and communication methods To deliver live streaming video over IP networks, various combinations of transport protocols and broadcast methods are employed.
AXIS 212 PTZ - Video Streams 14 MPEG-4 clients AXIS Media Co ntrol (AMC) The recommended method of accessin g live video (MPEG-4 and Motion JPEG) from the AXIS 212 PTZ is to use the AX IS Media Control (AMC) in Microsoft Internet Explorer in Windows. The AMC control panel can be used to configure various video and audio settings.

AXIS 212 PTZ - Con figuration 16 Video and Image settings Image Appearance Use these settings to change the image as requir ed. The video image can be fine-tuned by adjusting the resolution, compression level, and the white balance.

Setting the length to a high value saves considerably on bandwidth. The Cyclic refresh parameter gives a smoother bit rate and can be useful if bandwidth is limited.
AXIS 212 PTZ - Audio Settings 19 Audio Settings The AXIS 212 PTZ can transmit audio to clients using either the built-in microphone or a connected external microphone and can play audio received from clients via a connect ed speaker. Note: The speaker connected to the audio output must have a built-in amplifier, e.
AXIS 212 PTZ - Audio Settings 20 Audio Input Audio from an external microphone or a line s ource can be connected to the Audio in connector of th e AXIS 212 PTZ. The audio sour ce must be set to Microphone or Line depending on the connected device. The Enable microphone power option provides DC power for an external microphone.
AXIS 212 PTZ - Live View Config 21 Live View Config Layout These are the tools for de ciding the layout of the Live View page. The layout can be set in 3 ways: • Use Axis look - the layout is unchanged. • Use custom settings - modify the default page with your own colors, images etc.
AXIS 212 PTZ - Live View Config 22 Own Home Page To use a previously uploaded web page as the default page, check the checkbox, select the page fr om the drop-down list and click OK . User-defined Links Enter a descriptive name and enter the URL in the provided field.

The camera will attempt to show the video images in th e selected video format and viewer. If this is not possible, the camera will override the settings and select the best available combination.
