Overview of ChemWeb Server 1 The ChemWeb Server is used for central r ecording, monitoring and logging of the process data in potable and swimming pool water treatment plants. It is es pecially suitable for smaller installations without process display but which are to be insta lled with a data recording system with simple display.
Description of ChemWeb Server 2 The ChemWeb Server is a compact standalone PC w hich is fitted with an integrated analog, ISDN modem in addition to the main memory, an internal flash drive for programs and data, a clock module and a number of hardware interf aces.
Overview of ChemWeb Server 3 Ext. Reset If the reset input is connected more than 3 seconds to ground GND or the RESE T key is pressed at least 3 seconds, a reset is carried out at th e webserver as well as at the mo de m module.
Description of ChemWeb Server 4 COM 1 - RS23 2 null m od em This RS232 port is used for m odem parameterization and null modem operation without having to disconnect the device from its applicati on environment.
Overview of ChemWeb Server 5 CompactFlash slot (CF) The CompactFlash slot is used as me mory for progra ms and data a nd can oper ate co mme rcial CompactFlash cards with corresponding driver s oftware as external drive. For this purpose, the card should be formatted with the FAT file system.
Connecting more than one ChemWeb Server 6 RS485 bus system The serial RS485 bus is designed as balanced two- wire bus line according to EI A RS485 (DIN 66259, Part 4 or ISO 8482), which is suitable for long transmission routes (up to 4000 ft) at a high transmission rate (19200 baud).

Setting the IP address of the ChemWeb Server 11 In this window all network connect i ons ca n be contr ol l ed and adapted. Select the menu item “Create new connection” from th e left window to start the “New Connection Wizard”. Click “Next” Select “Connect to t he Internet” and click “Next”.
Setting the IP address of the ChemWeb Server 12 Select “Connect using a dial-up modem” and click “Next”. Select the installed modem and click “Next”. In this window y ou assign a name for this connection. Type this name in the entry box and click “Next”.
Setting the IP address of the ChemWeb Server 13 Select whether this connection is to be available for all u sers of this computer or only for the user currently logged on, and click “Next”. Type the access code (login / password) in the entry boxes.
Setting the IP address of the ChemWeb Server 14 Null modem connection via serial interface Via the integrated RS232 interface “COM1 Null mode m” of the ChemWeb Ser ver, a serial connection can be set up to a laptop computer or PC, using a modem cable.
Setting the IP address of the ChemWeb Server 15 Click the box “Don’t detect my modem; I will select it from a list”, and click “Next”. Select “Standard Modem Ty pes” under Manufacturer and “Communications cab le between two computers” under Models.
Setting the IP address of the ChemWeb Server 16 Select the “Modem” you have just installed and select “Properties“. In the selection menu, t he maxi mum port speed must be set to 57600 bits/s. Confirm by clicking “OK”. Leave the “Phone and Modem Options” by clicking “OK”.
Setting the IP address of the ChemWeb Server 17 Select “Set up an advanced connection” and click “Ne xt”. Select “Connect directly to another computer” and click “Next”. Select “Guest” and click “Next”. In this window y ou assign a name for this connection.
Setting the IP address of the ChemWeb Server 18 Select the interface used for the null modem connection and confirm your choice by clicking “Next”. Select whether this connection is to be available for all u sers of this computer or only for the user currently logged on, and click “Next”.
Setting the IP address of the ChemWeb Server 19 If this windo w appe ars, click “Properties”, as further se ttings have to be ma de. In this window, click “Configu re” to go to Modem Configuration. Set the maximum transmission spe ed t o 57 60 0 bits /s.
Setting the IP address of the ChemWeb Server 20 Now type the correct user name and the matching password in the entry boxes. Test the created co nnection by clickin g “Connect”. If t he connection is successful, a correspo nding mess age will appear on the screen.
Setting the IP address of the ChemWeb Server 21 Start menu item “Find” in the “CHIP” menu. The program then locates all ChemWeb Servers connected to this network segment independen t of the set IP address and n etwork mask, and lists all set data.

Startup 23 Befo re startup , a co nnection to the Ch emWeb Server m ust always be established! This can be any connection ( see chapter 3). When starting the Internet Explorer f or the first time , the Internet connection wizard might be started.
Server Setup 24 Bus scan Under this menu item all bus user s connecte d are l o cated automatically, and the corresponding results are displayed. Click “Start Scan ” to i nitiate the “Bus scan”. After the message “Scanni ng done” appears, the Ch emWeb Server reinitializes all aspects of the traced devices.
Server Setup 25 Mail c onfig urat ion Under this menu item, the ChemWeb Server is supp lied with data from your provider for sending e- mails. Type the data y ou recei ved from y our provider and the r eceiver e- mail addresses in the corresponding boxes, and confirm t he entry by clicking “Send”.
Server Setup 26 Event configuration Under this menu item you can define results, which in itiate an immediate information e-mail, for each bus user. The symbol after the respective bus user signifies: Events have been defined for this bus user. No events have been defined for this bus u ser.
Server Setup 27 The entry box “Release value” sp ecifies the value at which the event initiates the inform ation e-mail. By clicking the selection box under “Activate”, the event is enabled. The entries are stored by clicking “send data”. By clicking “close window”, the window is closed without storing the entries.
Server Setup 28 Relay 2 ON / Relay 2 OFF: By clicking this command, relay 2 can be switched on or off. The s tat u s of the re l ay is not sto r ed in the case of a power failure or a reset! Change password s Under this menu item, t he individual us er na mes and passwords are defined.
Server Setup 29 After changing the FTP or PPP password th e ChemWeb Server must be restarted to activate the new login. Name configuration Webserver: Define the name and language of the C hemWeb Se rver in these boxes , and store the entries by clicking “Set”.
Server Setup 30 This menu it em shows a separate page listing all network configuration data of the ChemWeb Server. Disconnect the power supply of the ChemWe b Server. Then short-circ uit digital inputs IN1 and IN2 b y means two wire jumpers. Re star t the ChemWeb Server b y connecting the power suppl y agai n.
Operation and Data Access 31 Operation via Web Browser To handle and display the data, a Java-capa ble Inter n et Browser ( e .g. Inter net ex plor e r) must be installed on the service computer. A (serial, Intr anet, Internet or switched) con nection must be available to acc ess the ChemWe b Server .
Operation and Data Access 32 Online values The submenus of “Onli ne va l ues ” dis play all relevant measured va lue s, st atus messa ges, fa ults and other information concerning th e individual device. Configure The submen us of “Config ure” display all settable parame ters of t he respecti ve device.
Operation and Data Access 33 Trend The submen us of “Tren d” show all mea sured values of the respective d evice as daily chart. One group always contains three measured values of th e device. These measure d values ar e stored every 5 minut es in a log file on the C ompactFlas h board.
Operation and Data Access 34 Backing up log files The old data i s located in the co mpact flash card. If you have a stan dard card re ader for the PC, y ou can copy the *.txt files to your PC. The p ath is WEB ARCH. You can copy the Files with the name *.
