Structuring the SDC 8200 system 44 Structuring the SDC 8200 system This chapter provides info rmation on how yo ur system can be structured and which components are required for the different expansion stages. Finally, this chapter also giv e s an ov erview of addition al audio equipment that can be connected to the system.
Structuring the SDC 8200 system 45 Note! In the following examples, the standard length of “3 m” is always given for the system cables between the co nference consoles. Howe ver, it is no problem to use other cable lengths or cabl es of differing lengths within the same string.
Structuring the SDC 8200 system 46 왘 Calculate the maximum cable length using the “Powercalc.exe” soft - ware (se e “Determi ning maximum cab le length s” on page 47) in order to ensure that all conso les are supplied with sufficient voltag e.
Structuring the SDC 8200 system 47 Determining maximum cable lengths In the preceding examples, the standard l e n g t h o f “ 3 m ” i s a l w a y s g i v e n for the system cables between the conf erence conso les. However, it is no problem to use other cable lengths or cables of differing length s within the same string.
Structuring the SDC 8200 system 48 Selectable modes between or within interpreter booths With the SDC 8200 system , you can choose between three “modes between booths” and two “modes in booth”.
Structuring the SDC 8200 system 49 Mode in booths: “Mixed” Interpreters who are seated in the sa me bo oth and inte rpret into the same target language can activat e their interpreter con soles any time by press- ing the MIC key – even simultaneously.
Structuring the SDC 8200 system 50 The below illustrat ion shows the relay interpretation proces s (auto-floor). If the original floor language is a lang uage of which all interpreters have a complete understanding and from which t hey work, you do not have to enable this function.
Structuring the SDC 8200 system 51 Using external equipment External audio signa ls can be fed to the conference and interpretation sys- tem and channels (floor channel and interpreta tion channels) can be out- put.
Setting up the SDC 8200 system 52 Setting up the SDC 8200 system This chapter provides in formation on how to set up and operate the SDC 8200 confer ence and interpretation system.
Setting up the SDC 820 0 system 53 왘 Slide the centra l units into the rack. 왘 Screw the central units to the rack. 왘 Adequately support th e central units at the rear. Setting up the central units 왘 Place the ce ntral unit s on an even, non-slip surface.
Setting up the SDC 8200 system 54 Interconnecting t he SDC 8200 system components Depending on the expansion stage of your system, you have to: y interconnect th e consoles (all ex pansion stages), y .
Setting up the SDC 820 0 system 55 Note! The entire conference and interpre tation system is configured, man- aged and controlled exclusively via the “master” central unit. All operating controls on the “slaves” are locked, exc ept for the F2 key.
Setting up the SDC 8200 system 56 Connecting additi onal equipment Via the two audio inputs AUX IN 1 and AUX IN 2 of the centr al unit, you can connect mi crophones w ith suitable pr eamplifiers or you can feed audio signals from additional audio equi pment to the conference system.
Setting up the SDC 820 0 system 57 tem installed in a separate ro om to carry out a remote conference. The par- ticipants of both conferences can th en participate in a common confer- ence.
Setting up the SDC 8200 system 58 Connecting an SDC 82 00 AO analog ou tput unit to the SDC 8200 CU cen- tral unit You can output additional i nterpretation channe ls via the SDC 8200 AO analog output unit’s transformer ba lanced XLR-3M audio outputs or via the unbalanced phono sockets nex t to the XLR-3 output s.
