F or e xample: › If you drive 5,000 mil es in les s than six months, you should obtain maintenance at 5,000 miles — don’t wait until six months.
T o help you get started with r egular maintenance, Scion pr ovides your vehicl e’ s fir st thr ee oil changes on a c omplimentary basis. While they don’t have to be your initial three oil changes, the oil changes must be obtained within 3 years or 36,000 miles (whichever oc curs firs t) of your vehicl e’ s original in-service date.

20 ›› Explanation of Maintenance Items The following descriptions ar e provided to give you a bett er under- standing of the maintenance items that should be performed on your vehicl e. The scheduled maintenance log indicates at which mil eage/ time intervals each item should be performed.
Drive Shaft Boots Check the drive shaft boots and clamps for cracks, deterioration and damage. Replace any deterior ated or damaged parts and, if neces sary, r epack the grease. A qualified technician should perform these operations. Engine Air Filter Replace at specified intervals.
