2 English DVR UTILITY SOFTWAR E FEATURES This software is a remote monitoring system for digital video recorders (DVR) and computer terminals that are connected via a network. It includes an extensive range of functions that are designed to make optimal use of the latest in technology and network features.
English 3 NETWORK CONFIGURATION This system consists of DVRs, monitoring cameras and computer term inals that are used f or remote monitoring. All devices in the system are connected through a dedicated local area net work (LAN).
4 English NETWORK CONFIGURATION SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS The following environ ment is required for the operation of this system. *1 If using at a resolution of 1024x768, you will need to select "Auto-hide the taskbar" in the Taskbar Properties menu.
English 5 TCP/IP SETTINGS TCP/IP (Transmiss ion Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) is a standard protocol that is used for the Internet and intranets.
6 English INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE Install the DVR Utility Software to the computer that is connected to the network. The followi ng procedure will install the h ardware key driver and the MP2 v iewer at the sam e time. 1 Insert the D VR Utility Software CD into the CD-ROM drive of the computer.
English 7 INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE 6 Instal lati on will begi n. Installation of the software will begin, and a progress bar showing the installation progress will appear in the “ Setup Status ” window. 7 Restart the computer. Click [Finish] in the “ InstallShield Wizard Complete ” window to restart the computer automatically.
8 English LOGGING IN/LOGGING OF F/DISPLAY LANGUAGE SETTING The user level for each user on the net work can be set to one of four levels. The user level is v erified by means of the user name and password that are entered when the user logs in. ■ User Le vel Different operating privileges are set for each user level.
English 9 LOGGING IN/LOGGING OFF/DISPLAY LANGUAGE SETTING ■ Logging In 1 Hardware key installation Insert the ac cessory hardware key into the USB port of the computer. If the hardware key is not instal led, the software will operate as the Lite version, and some functions will be disabled.
10 English LOGGING IN/LOGGING OFF/DISPLAY LANGUAGE SETTING ■ Logging Off Click on the toolbar to close t he connection. Make sure that you carry out this disconnect operation w hen exiting the software and closing the program window. ■ Display Language Setting This software uses English as its default display language.
English 11 BASIC WINDOW F LOWCHART When the software is started and a user has logged in, the main window for live image monitoring and recording/playback is displayed. The software lets you display a variety of operating windows and setting windows starting from the main window, as shown in the flowchart diagram below.
12 English FUNCTIO NS OF EACH M AIN WINDOW (MONITORIN G, RECORDING AND PLAYBACK WINDOW) COMPONENT The main window is the initial window that is displayed the first time the software is run. T his is the basic window for carrying out live image monitoring and recording and playback operations.
English 13 FUNCTIONS OF EACH MAIN W INDOW (MONITORING, RECORDING AND PLAYBACK WINDOW) COMPONENT ● BROADCAST (P.41) This displays the “ BROADCAST ” window. This window is used for issuing batches of basic commands such as comm ands to start or stop recording to the DVRs that are connected to t he system.

18 English INITIAL SETUP (SETU P WINDOW) (User Lev el: ID4) The “ SETUP ” window is the first window that is displayed after t he software has been installed.
English 19 INITIAL SE TUP (SETUP WINDO W) (User Lev el: ID4) 4 DOWNLOAD AUTHORITY (Default setting: ID2, ID3) This sets the download operation permissions for ID2 and I D3 user levels. Use the buttons to specify which operations are to be allowed for each user level and then click [ OK].
20 English INITIAL SE TUP (SETUP WINDO W) (User Lev el: ID4) ■ REG ISTER DVR t ab (Op era tion only po ssible a t master compute r) The operations in this tab are lim ited to t he mas ter computer only. They let you register and delet e DVRs that are connected t o the monitoring network.
English 21 INITIAL SE TUP (SETUP WINDO W) (User Lev el: ID4) 9 DVR attribute group entry box (GROUP) When registering a new DVR, type the attribute group (such as setup location) for the DVR in this box using 10 alphanumeric characters or less.
22 English INITIAL SE TUP (SETUP WINDO W) (User Lev el: ID4) 1 Select “ MANUAL ” in the “ TCP/IP ADDR. ” box. The manual setting m ode for addresses will be enabled. 2 Manually set “ IP ADDRESS ” using the “ NETWORK SET ” menu for the DVR.
English 23 CLOCK AND SYSTEM UPDATE SETTINGS (User Lev el: ID4) The “ CLOCK & SYS TEM ” window contains four tab s which can be used for tasks such as setting the time, updating the firmwa re and displaying system-related information. C lick on the menu bar to display the setting window and then c lick a tab index to selec t a t ab.
24 English CLOCK AND SYSTEM UPDATE SETTINGS (User Level: ID4) ■ SYSTEM UPDATE ta b Use this tab window to specify a f ilename to use for updating DVR firmware. 1 Click the “ SYSTEM UPDATE ” ta b index. The “ SYSTEM UP DATE ” tab window will be displayed.
English 25 CLOCK AND SYSTEM UPDATE SETTINGS (User Level: ID4) ■ INFORMATION 1 tab As well as dis playing DVR setting information and hard disk-related information, this can be used to initialize the hard dis k. Specify a DVR name in the D VR list i n the “ TA R GET ” window and then click , or double-click the DVR name.
26 English CLOCK AND SYSTEM UPDATE SETTINGS (User Level: ID4) 8 INIT IALI ZE H DD This initializes the hard disk s in the DVR. If you click , a confirmation dialog box will be displayed. Click [Yes] to continue with the hard disk initialization. • When a h ard disk is in itialized, all images that ar e stored o n that hard disk will b e erased.
English 27 CLOCK AND SYSTEM UPDATE SETTINGS (User Level: ID4) ■ INFORMATION 2 tab Shows inform ation such as the DVR usage time, power outages and t he firmware version. S pecify a DVR name in the DVR list in the “ TARG ET ” window and then click , or double-click the DVR name.
28 English MENU SETTINGS (MENU WINDOW) (User Lev el: ID4) The “ MENU ” window contains 7 tabs which are used to set the DVR operating conditions. Click in the menu bar t o display the setting window. ● Basic flow o f menu settings 1 Select a set ting tab.
English 29 MENU SETTINGS (ME NU WINDOW) (User Level: ID4 ) 2 DAYLIGHT S AVING (Default setti ng: NO USE) This sets day light saving time and w hether daylight saving is to be used or not . Available settings: USE: The softw are switches automatically to daylight saving time.
30 English MENU SETTINGS (ME NU WINDOW) (User Level: ID4 ) ■ REC MODE SET tab Click on the DVR to be set in the “ TARGET ” window to select it. The display color for the selected DVR will change to blue. 1 PICTURE QUALITY (Default setting: HI GH) This sets the qualit y of the images that are recorded by the D VR.
English 31 MENU SETTINGS (ME NU WINDOW) (User Level: ID4 ) 3 OVERWRITE (Default setting: ON) This sets what is to happen when the hard disk recording are a becomes full.
32 English MENU SETTINGS (ME NU WINDOW) (User Level: ID4 ) 5 ALARM MOD E (Default setting: O FF) This sets the rec ording mode for alarm recording. Make the selection from the drop-down list box and then click [APP LY]. Available settings: • OFF: Alarm recording is not carried out.
English 33 MENU SETTINGS (ME NU WINDOW) (User Level: ID4 ) ■ TIMER REC SET tab This sets the timer recor ding conditions for DVRs. Click on the DVR to be set in the “ TARG ET ” window to select it. The disp lay color for the selected DVR will change to blue.
34 English MENU SETTINGS (ME NU WINDOW) (User Level: ID4 ) 1 Select “ MON ” fro m the “ WE EK ” drop-dow n list box . 2 Use the [S TART] spin button to select [10:30]. 3 Use the [STOP] spin button to select [15:30]. 4 Select “ ON ” in th e “ SET ” bo x.
English 35 MENU SETTINGS (ME NU WINDOW) (User Level: ID4 ) ■ HOLIDAY SET tab This window is used to specify particular days as holidays. The ti m er recording operation on specified holidays will be the same as that for Sundays.
36 English MENU SETTINGS (ME NU WINDOW) (User Level: ID4 ) ■ DISPLAY/BUZZER SET tab This is used to set the display information and buzzer operation for the monitor connected to the D VR. Click on the DVR to be set in the “ TARGET ” window to select it.
English 37 MENU SETTINGS (ME NU WINDOW) (User Level: ID4 ) 2 BUZZER Select “ ON ” to set the warning buzzer to sound at the f ollowing times , or select “ OFF ” if you do not need the warning buzzer to sound, and then click [APPLY].
38 English MENU SETTINGS (ME NU WINDOW) (User Level: ID4 ) ■ MONITOR SET tab This sets the window settings for the monitor that is connect ed to a DVR.
English 39 MENU SETTINGS (ME NU WINDOW) (User Level: ID4 ) <MASK SET> 4 MASK SET (Defaul t setting: OFF) You can set the normal window and the playback window so that images from specified channels are no t displayed. Set the window display to “ ON ” or “ OFF ” for each channel (CH1 to CH4) and then click [APPLY] .
40 English MENU SETTINGS (ME NU WINDOW) (User Level: ID4 ) ■ TITLE/MOTION SET tab This sets the m otion sensor and camera title settings for each channel. Select t he DVR in the “ TARGET ” window. The selected DVR will change to blue. 1 Specifying a channel Select a channel f or motion sensor or camera title setting.
English 41 BROADCAST TRANSMISSION SETT INGS (BROADCAST WINDOW) ( U ser Leve l: ID3/4) Basic comm ands can be transm itted from a single us er terminal to all connected DV Rs in a single operation. This is called “ broadcasting ” . Clic k on the toolbar to display the BROADC AST window.
42 English BROADCAST TRANSMISS ION SETTINGS (BROADCAST WINDOW) (User Lev el: ID4) 4 CLOCK SET (User Level: ID4) This sets the dat e and time for all connec ted DVRs to the specified time. 1 Use the spin buttons to set the date (DATE [MM/DD/YY ]) and time (TIME [h h/ mm/ss]).
English 43 IMAGE DISPLAY WINDOWS This system allows monitored live images and playback im ages to be viewed in t he following three types of screen. ■ Display S creen Type 1 QUAD screen This is the m ain window for this s ystem.
44 English IMAGE DISPLA Y WINDOWS ■ Switching Displa y Windo ws To switch the display window, click the window select button on th e toolbar or use the sw itching operation described below. 1 QUAD screen → → → → MULTI screen • Click on the toolbar.
English 45 IMAGE DISPLA Y WINDOWS ■ Title Bar The title bars at the t op of each window have t wo levels, for the DVR and f or the cameras in order to show the relevant information for the images being displayed. In addition, you can specify a window in the multi screen by click the title bar for that window.
46 English MONITORING LIVE IMAGES (User Level: ID1 or higher) Live images from mon itoring cameras that are connec ted to the network can be viewed by specifying a DVR.
English 47 MONITORING LIVE IMAGES (User Level: ID1 or higher) ■ Monitoring with MULTI Screens Live images f rom up to a m aximum of 4 DV Rs can be displayed at the same tim e in a single scree n. 1 Click ( 1 1 1 1 ) on the tool bar. The multi screen is displayed.
48 English MONITORING LIVE IMAGES (User Level: ID1 or higher) ■ Disconnecting DVRs To disconnect a DVR, click in the main window. When you d o this, communication w ith the DVR that is being monitor.
English 49 RECORDING IMAGES Images that are being monitored can be recorded onto the hard disk inside the DVR. T here are three recording modes that are available: “ Normal rec ording ” involves u.
50 English RECORDING IMAGES ● Normal recording from the multi screen Images from multiple DVRs ca n be recorded at the sam e time from the multi screen. The oper ations for each window are t he same as for the quad screen. 1 Click ( 1 1 1 1 ) on the tool bar.
English 51 RECORDING IMAGES ■ Timer Recording (Setting r ec ordi ng conditions: User l evel ID4, Timer button operations: User level ID3 o r ID4) This automatically starts recording at the time specified by the timer . 1 Use the “ TIMER REC SET ” tab w indow in the “ MENU ” window to set the timer recording conditions.
52 English RECORDING IMAGES ■ Alarm Record ing (User Leve l: ID4) If an external alarm (sensor switch that is installed to the alarm input t erminal of t he DV R) or a motion sensor detects a problem, recording of alarm ima ges starts automatically.
English 53 PLAYING BACK R ECORDED IMAGES (User Level: ID1 or higher) When playing back recorded images, click the playback button in live mode. Playback of images from the specified DVR wil l start. ■ Playing B ack Record ed Images 1 Switches to live i mage mode.
54 English PLAYING BACK RECORDE D IMAGES (User Level: ID1 or higher) ■ Functions of Each Playback Contr ol Panel Component (Playback) butto n: This button is us ed to play back recorded images at normal speed. (Stop) button: This button is used to stop playback and to switch back to live mode.
English 55 SEARCHING (User Level: ID2 or higher) Normal recording images, timer rec ording images and alarm recording images that have been recorded by a DVR can be searched through using the computer and played back. The following t hre e search modes a re available.
56 English SEARCHING (User Level: ID2 or higher) ■ Alarm Search All alarm recordings made by the selected DVR are displayed in the alarm list in the “ ALARM SEARC H ” window. This method of searching lets you select alarms to be pl a yed back from the alarm list.
English 57 SEARCHING (User Level: ID2 or higher) 4 Select the alarm to be played back from the alarm list. The selected alarm will change to blue. 5 Click ( 5 5 5 5 ). A still i mage for the selected alarm will be displayed in the p review window. The display window will vary depending on the “ Alarm List ” tab s election.
58 English SEARCHING (User Level: ID2 or higher) ■ Alarm Thumbnail Search All alarm recordings made by the selected DVR are displayed as thumbn ail (compressed images) in the “ ALAR M SEARCH ” window. This m ethod of searching lets you select alarms t o be played back by referring to the thumbnails.
English 59 SAVING STILL IMAGES (User Level: ID2 or higher) Still images that are displayed during playback can be saved on the c omputer ’ s hard disk in JPEG format. 1 Playing back images in the main window Select the DVR in the “ TA RGET ” window and then click the play button in the playback control panel.
60 English DOWNLOAD (User L evel: ID2/3 or higher) Recorded images can be downloaded t o the computer or s ome other device. Download operation permissions for user levels 2 and 3 will be set to the default settings.
English 61 DOWNLOA D (User Level: ID2/3 or higher) ■ Functions of Each Download Window Element <Display area> 1 Preview window This shows thumbnail images of the still images at the start point (left) an d end point (right) for the specified image files.
62 English DOWNLOA D (User Level: ID2/3 or higher) <Basic operation area> The following comman ds can be used on the currently-selected image file. 4 FILENAME This sets the path f or the download dest ination and the filename. Normally the settings that are assigned automatically s hould be used.

68 English TIMER DOW NLOAD (User Level : ID2/3 or hig her) ● Timer downloa d procedure Set the timer download settings as follows. 1 Set the download starting ti me. Use [SCHEDULE] to set the weekday and time for starting the download. 2 Specify the DVR to be downloaded from.
English 69 TIMER DOW NLOAD (User Level : ID2/3 or hig her) 4 Specify the download destination folder. The download destination path and t he filename are assigned aut omatically. The default name setting that appears in t he “ FOLDER PA TH ” box does not need to be changed unless y ou prefer to use different settings.

72 English TIMER DOW NLOAD (User Level : ID2/3 or hig her) ● Basic timer dow nload operation and sp ecifications • When the downloa d start time specified in [SCHEDULE] is reached, the downloads will be carried out in order starting from no. 1. • Timer downloads require images to have bee n recorded during the image recording time specified.
English 73 TIMER DOW NLOAD (User Level : ID2/3 or hig her) ● Download Log If you click on “ STATUS ” in the “ TI MER DOWNLOAD ” window, the download log will be displayed, and you can then check the download history details for each DVR.
74 English TAMPER DETECTION (User Level: I D2 higher) This function lets y ou check whether images that have been downloaded from a DVR to an external storage device are the original downloaded images, or whet her they have been modified or added to in some way.
English 75 MP2 Viewer The MP2 Viewer is a special playback s oftware application that is used for the DSR-M804/800 series. It can be used to play back image data in M PEG2 format that has been saved f r om the DVR onto a recording medium such as and computer ’ s hard disk drive, a CompactFlash card or a CD-R.

English 79 MP2 View er ■ Saves a S till Image Still image data can be saved in JPEG format onto a different storage medium. 1 Displays a still image. Click while playback is in progress. 2 Click on th e t oolbar. Alternatively, select [Save As(A)] from the File menu.
