Getting Started 6 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section explains how to st art using your phone by f irst configurin g your hardwar e, activating your serv ice, and then setting up your voice mail. Setting Up Y our Phone Prior to use it is ne cessary t o install both the ba ttery and SIM into their corresponding internal compartments.
7 Important! The plug-in S IM card infor mation an d its contac ts can be easily damaged by scratching or bending, so be careful when handling, inserting, or removing the card. Keep all SIM cards out of reach of small children. Carefully slide the SIM card into the SIM card socket (as shown) until the card locks into place.
Getting Started 8 R emo ving and Installing the Memor y Car d Y ou can use a microSD (SD) or microSDHC card to expand available m emory space if you de sire. This secure digital card enables you to exchange images, music, and data between SD-compatible de vices.
9 Installing the Back Co ver 1. Place the batter y cover onto the back of the phone and press down (1). 2. Press down along the edge of the back cover (2) until you have a secure seal. Note: Make sure the batter y is properly ins talled before switching on the phone.
Getting Started 10 Using the T r av el Char ger Important! Verify that the handset batter y is installed prior t o connection. If the ba ttery is not properl y installed and the wall charger is connected, the handset may power off and on continuously , preventing proper operation.

Getting Started 12 Configuring your Phone When you first turn on yo ur phone, you will need to set up a few things. 1. The Welc ome to A T&T Ready2Go! screen displays when you turn on your phone for the first time. The default language for your phone is English.

Getting Started 14 Creating a New Google Account In order to utilize your device to t he fullest extent, you will need to create a Google™ Acco unt when you first use your device. With a Google Account, Google a pplicati ons will always be in sync between yo ur phone and co mputer .

41 T o increase the size of a desired application window: 1. With the two applica tions shown in a split screen, locate the Border ba r indicating the edge of the ap p window. 2. In a single motion, touch and hold the Border bar then drag it to resize the desired window .

53 Making an Emergency Call with a SIM card The Emergenc y calling mode makes redialing an emer gency number a 1-tap process. Before you can resume normal calling operations, you should firs t exit this mode. 1. From the Home screen, tap . 2. Enter the emergenc y number (example: 911) and then tap .
Call Functions 54 Answ ering a Call When a call is received the phone rings and displays the caller’ s phone number , or name if stored in the Address Book. 1. At the incoming call screen: • T ouch and drag in any direction to answer the call. • T ouch and drag in any direction to reject the call and send it to your voicemail.
55 Dialing Options From the Home scr een and Application menus, you have the option to access the Dialer and initiate a call by tapping ➔ Keypad . From the Dialer and the Contacts screen, the following tabs are loca ted at the top of your screen: • Keypad : dials the current numb er entered using the on-screen keypad .

59 P ersonalizing the Call So und Setting During a call it may be necessary to adjust the sound of the incoming call by selecting an audio equalizer setting for the current call. 1. From the call screen, tap . 2. Confirm the option is enabled . 3. Select an available option .

63 Section 4: Entering T e xt This section describes how to select the desired text input method when entering characters into your phone. This section also describes the predictive text entr y system that reduces the amount of key stro kes associated w ith enter ing text.
Entering T ext 64 Changing the T e xt Input Mode - K eypad There are two main keypad layout keys tha t will change the on-screen keys within the QWERTY keypad. The available T ext Input modes are: Sym and Abc . Note: When in Abc mode, the Sym button will appear .

Predictive T ext By using the Predictive T ext option, you can have next-letter prediction and regional err or correction, which compensates for pressing the wrong keys on the QWERTY keyboard.

67 Entering T ext Using Swype Swype™ is a text input method that allo ws you to enter a word by sliding yo ur finger or stylus from letter to letter , lifting your finger between words. Sw ype uses error correcting algorithms and a la nguage model to predict the next word.
