Camer a User Guide The serial number of this product is given on the bottom face of the camera. Basic Operations If you are using the camera f or the first time, read this section. This section provides a basic overview of how to turn on the camera, take pictures and play back pictures.

47 1 ADJ. Button Functions Shifting the AE and AF T argets Y ou can shift the target for automatic exposure ( AE) and/or auto focus (AF). Available Setting Description AE/AF AE and AF are set t o Spot AE and Spot AF respectively and the target can be moved f or both simultaneously.

53 3 Shooting Mode T ypes Sports Use when taking pictures of moving objects. Landscape Use when taking scener y pictures with abundant greenery or blue sky. Zoom Macro The camera automatically zooms to the optimal z oom position to shoot at a higher magnification than in normal macro shooting.

Continuous mode can be selected from the continuous mode selection dialog displayed when the MENU button is pressed. Continuous Modes Continuous Mode This is the normal continuous mode.

60 3 Shooting Mode T ypes M-Cont Plus (2M) The camera shoots while the shutter release button is pr essed all the way down, but only the last 26 frames (about the last 0.9 seconds of shooting) are recor ded, creating a single multi-picture (MP) file. 63 3 Shooting Mode T ypes Dynamic Range Double Shot “Dynamic range” refers to the range of brightnesses (tone levels) that can be expressed by the camera. Dynamic range double shot creates a smooth transition from highlights to shadows f or natural contrast.
64 3 Shooting Mode T ypes The effect can be chosen using the [Dynamic Range Expansion] option when [Dynamic Range] is selec ted in creative shooting mode . If an option other than [AUT O] is highlighted when you press the ADJ ./OK button F , the menu shown at right will be displayed.

76 5 Shooting Menu Interval Shooting Y ou can set the camera to automatically take pictures at fixed intervals. Y ou can set the shooting interval from five seconds to one hour in increments of five seconds .
77 5 Shooting Menu Slow Shutter Limit The maximum shutter speed can be limited to the f ollowing: 1/8 second, 1/4 second, and 1/2 second. When this function is set to [Off ], the maximum shutter speed varies depending on the ISO setting.

95 6 Playback Menu Protect [Prot ect] allows you to protect files from being accidentally deleted. If [1 File] is selected, you can pr otect or unprotect the file selected by pressing the ADJ./OK button NF . If [Select All] or [Cancel All] is selected, you can protect or unprotect all files.

105 8 Direct Printing 8 Direct Printing About the Direct Print F unc tion The Direct Print standard enables dir ect printing from a camera to a printer by connecting them via a USB cable. Photos can be printed quickly and easily from your digital camera without using a computer .
106 8 Direct Printing Printing S till Images Y ou can print still images from the camera with a PictBridge- compatible printer . If a memor y card is inserted, the pictures will be printed from the memory card; otherwise pic tures will be printed from internal memory.
