S ETTING U P Y OUR P RINTER 2. 2 During the storage and transport of your printer , adhesive tape is used to block some of the elements that may move or open unexpectedly and consequently be damaged. 1 Before connecting up your printer and starting to use it, you must remove all the adhesive tapes, as illustrated in the figure below.
S ETTING U P Y OUR P RINTER 2. 3 Installing T oner Cartridge T o install a toner cartridge in your printer proceed as follows. 1 R emove the toner cartridge from its packaging. 2 Open the top cover of the printer by pressing the button on the right side of the printer .

S ETTING U P Y OUR P RINTER 2. 5 Load Paper T o load paper in the tray , proceed as follows. 1 Pull the T ray1 completely out of the printer . 2 Squeeze the back of the rear paper guide and slide it to the desired paper size until it clicks into place.

S ETTING U P Y OUR P RINTER 2. 8 T o print from computer software, you need to connect your printer to your computer with a parallel interface cable. The parallel cable should be compatible with the Centronics R parallel interface and IEEE standard 1284.

AUTO(Factory Default) 1ST MP OPT(If the optional cassette is installed) MANUAL The TRAY setting identifies the default paper tray . 1ST means that the printer feeds print material from T ray unless it is empty or opened. MP means that the printer feeds print material from Multi-Purpose tray unless it is empty or closed.

M AINTAINING Y OUR P RINTER 6. 1 T oner Cartridge Do not remove the toner cartridge from its package until you are ready to use it. T oner cartridge storage The life of the toner cartridge depends on the amount of toner that print jobs require.
M AINTAINING Y OUR P RINTER 6. 2 T oner Cartridge When toner is low, faded or light areas may appear on a printed page. Y ou may be able to temporarily improve print quality by redistributing the toner . The following procedures may allow you to finish the current print job before replacing the toner cartridge.
