Activating your ph one 13 Activating your phone Information on the SIM card To use your phone, you have a smart card call ed a SIM card. It cont ains all the information needed by the net work as well.
14 Activating your phone Installing the SIM card and in stalling the battery Switch off your phone and disconnect the charger. The SIM card is inserted beneath the phone’s battery. Turn your phone over an d slide the backcatch up. Take off the back cover, starting from the bottom.

16 Activating your phone Charging the battery Your phone is powere d by a rechargeable battery. A new battery must be charged for at least 4 hours before being used f or the first time. It r eaches its optimum capacity after a few cycles of use. When your battery has been di scharged, the phone displays the state (empty battery icon flashes).

My phone in 5 minutes 19 Setting time and date When you use your phone for the first t ime, you need to set the date and time. In due course, when the battery is completely discharged, or if it has been removed, you will be prompted systematically t o confirm date and time.
20 My phone in 5 minutes Receiving a call When you receive a cal l, the number of your correspondent is displayed when it is presented by the network. Press the Start key or the right programmable key to answer, and speak. To refuse the call, press the Stop key or the left progr ammable key .
My phone in 5 minutes 21 We want to familiarise you with the i nterface of your new phone, using a simple setting: choosing a ring tone and adjusting the volume. V olume and ring tone This menu allows you to allocate a ri ng tone to each t ype of event.
22 Phonebook Phonebook The phonebook allows you to store numbers that you call r egularly. These numbers can be stored in the SIM card or i n the phone. The list of numbers in the phonebook of the SIM card varies in relation to t he capacity of the card: the supplier company will tell you what this is.
Phonebook 23 Delete Select Delete . [ OK ]. Confirm deletion of entry wit h [ Yes ]. Call Select Call . Press the right programmabl e key to ma ke the call. You can also select the party to be called from the phonebook, and press the Start key to make the call.
24 Phonebook My numbers You can create the entries corresponding to your own numbers in order to consult th em when necessary. Select My numbers and [ OK ]. Enter the different detai ls and [ OK ]. Call groups You have the facility to group your contacts into call groups.
Phonebook 25 Sending a vCard It is possible to send a vCard from ea ch contact stored i n the phonebook. The availability of this functi on depends on the model of your phone. vCards can be sent to another phone using SMS. From a contact in the phonebook, select the Send contact by SMS option menu item.
26 Messages Messages The message menu brings t ogether the followi ng two types of messages: SMS and EMS (an EMS is an extended message, longer than an SMS with i mages and sounds added). It is possible to exchange dif ferent types of contents: text, call group icons, screen backgrounds, tunes, WAP bookmarks.
Messages 27 The Easy Message T9™ helps you t o c onveniently enter your short messages. Using T9 Mode Press once the key corresponding to t he letter chosen and make the word by cont inuing to press.
28 Messages Input modes The ABC mode is used to enter words that do not exist in the di ctionary. To obtain a letter, press the corresponding key several times, t he letters and the number scroll past. Mode 123 is used to insert numbers. Insert mode is used to insert symbol s, animations, call group i cons and tunes: the SMS then becomes an EMS.
Messages 29 When the text has been entered in the body screen, the right progr ammable key [ Options ] can also be used to access the functions of fered: - Send , Send and receive all, send later. - Insert to insert multimedia objects such as images, animations and sounds into your message.
30 Messages Inbox From the Messages menu choose the Inbox menu and [ Select ]. Each message contains information on type of message (in the form of an icon) and time (or date) of reception. Unread messages are entered in bold and arranged by arrival time and date.
Messages 31 Sending options Several sending options are offered. From the Messages menu choose the Options menu and [ Select ]. Choose from the proposed op tions (SMS or MMS dependi ng on model).
32 WAP WA P WAP (Wireless Application Pro tocol): protocol that tr anslates the Internet language int o WML language that can be read by a phone. The WAP functi on allows you to log onto certain Internet sites. You can log onto sites t hat allow you to download tunes, icons or animated screensavers to your phone.
WAP 33 Configuring W AP parameters Select the Advanced… menu, then the configuration menu. Choose from the sub-menus offered: Logon parameters is used to select or modify your access provider's logon parameters or confi gure the parameters of other access providers.
34 WAP Once all the settings have been entered, you can activate t he chosen access provider. Select hi m from the list. Confi rm your choice with OK . Inactivity t ime is used to choose t he time after which the call i s aut omatically disconnected if you have for gotten to log off from a service.

38 Background Background This menu allows you to customise your scr een by choosing the colour, background image, ani mation or greeting message. Colours This menu allows you to display the colours you want on your phone. From the Background menu select the Colours menu and [ Select ].
Background 39 Greeting message This menu allows you t o customise your greeti ng message. From the Background menu select the Greeting msg menu and [ Select ]. Enter the t ext that you want to see appear in t he greeting message (when you switch on) and [ OK ].
40 Settings Settings This menu allows you to customise the settings of your phone to make it as convenient as possible for you to use. Date / Time This menu allows you to set the date and time of your phone. From the Settings menu select the Date / Time menu and [ Select ].
Settings 41 Networks This menu allows you t o configure networ k preferences. From the Settings menu select the Networks menu and [ Select ]. Choose Preferred to view all the pre-registered networ ks. Choose Selection to activate (aut omatically or manually) one of the networ ks accessible in the area i n which your are located .

Choose from the options offered. Anonymous mode You have the facility to mask your number on the phone from the person you are calling.
44 Calls Blacklist The blacklist is used t o limit failures on automa tic calls (calls generated by t he automatic redial funct ion or by applications : data, fax f or example).
Security 45 Security This menu allows you to configure your phone's security settings. Keypad locking This menu allows you t o lock the keypad. From the Security menu select the Keypad locking menu and [ Select ]. Select Activate or deactivate and [ OK ].
46 Securit y Phone code The phone code is a secret code intended to protect the phone if stolen. The Phone code menu allows you to activat e the phone code so that it is requested and checked whenever the phone is switched on if a different SIM card is used.
Security 47 Call barring This menu allows you t o block the sending or reception of cert ain calls. Before you can use this service, a password will be provided by your operator when you take out your subscription. Access to this service depends on your subscription type.
48 Accessories Accessories This menu allows you to access the various accessori es offer ed by your phone: calendar, calculat or, converter, alarm, t imer, car kit, data parameters. Calendar This menu allows you to display a calendar. From the Accessories menu, select the Calendar menu and [ Select ].
Accessories 49 Converter This menu allows you t o convert one curr ency to another . From the Accessories menu, select the Converter menu and [ Select ]. Enter a value an d press the Up key S to convert from one currency to another , or the Down key T to convert back.
50 Accessories Car kit This menu allows you to configure your phone with a car kit. From the Accessories menu, select the Car kit menu and [ Select ]. Choose from the options offered (Automatic response, Switch off, Alarm timing, Hands-fr ee volume control).
Services 51 Services This menu allows you to access numerous services offered by your operat or. The list of these services wi ll appear in the menu depending on your subscription. This menu allows you t o access your operator's b asic services. From the Services menu, choose from the list offered.
