10 11 CHARGING THE BA TTERY P ACK Battery packs for this tool are shipped in a low charge con- dition to prevent possible problems. Therefore, you should char ge them until the green LED on the front of the char ger comes on. NOTE: Batteries will not r each full charge the first time they are charged.
12 13 CHARGING A HOT BA TTERY P ACK When using the tool continuously , the batteries in the battery pack will become hot. Y ou should let a hot battery pack cool down for approximately 30 minutes before attempting to rechar ge. When the battery pack becomes discharged and is hot, this will cause the green LED to come on instead of the red LED.
12 13 WARNING: Do not hold chuck body with one hand and use power of the drill to tighten the chuck jaws on the drill bit. The chuck body could slip in your hand, or your hand could slip and come in contact with the rotating drill bit. This could cause an accident resulting in serious personal injury .

The drill has a two-speed gear train designed for drilling or dri ving at LO (1) or HI (2) spe eds . A slide switch is locat ed on top of the drill to select either LO (1) or HI (2) speed.
14 15 TORQUE ADJUSTMENT See Figure 10. When using the drill-driver for various driving applications, it becomes necessary to increase or decrease the torque in order to help prevent the possibility of damaging screw heads, threads, workpiece, etc. In general, tor que intensity should correspond to the screw diameter .

16 17 USING THE AUXILIAR Y HANDLE ASSEMBL Y See Figures 14 - 15. An auxiliary handle is packed with the drill for ease of opera- tion and to help prevent loss of control. 18 19 DRILLING n Check the direction of rotation selector for the correct setting (forward or reverse).� n Secure the material to be drilled in a vise or with clamps to keep it from turning as the drill bit rotates.� n Hold the drill firmly and place the bit at the point to be drilled.

20 21 MAINTENANCE CHUCK REMOV AL See Figures 18 - 20. The chuck may be removed and r eplaced by a new one. n Lock the swit ch trig ger by placing the directio n of rotation selector in center position. n Insert a 5/16 in. or larger hex key into the chuck of the drill and tighten the chuck jaws securely.
